It seems incredible but local people often seemed very surprised but incredibly happy to meet Americans traveling in their countries. We were always told that the only foreigners they meet are European. I cannot say enough to the generous hospitality we received along the entire route.
All but 4 nights of our trip were spent wild camping, and we encountered many difficult points along the way. We managed to keep spirits up through a lighthearted approach. We rode portions of the Tian Shan Traverse mountain bike route and at other points we forged our own way. This meant for some gnarly hike-a-bikes that made ride-able portions feel that much better.
We were amazed by the incredible scenery these countries have to offer and hope that with this video we can inspire more people to travel to this wonderful region self supported.

Couldn't agree more!
You guys are so cool. I wish i have such friends.

Wauw, endless nature and beauty. Love the music too, matches the scenery. Thanks for this video!
Un très beau périple, merci 👌🚴♂️🙋♂️
You are so cool persons & your tour is incredible :)
Beautiful images and nice storytelling, Karl. This is Mauro, whom you met on the Carretera Austral last month. And I'm from Sardinia, so not Sicily as you wrote on Instagram, though would love to go there too ;) Besides Kyrgyzstan of course, now even more after watching these videos of yours. Take care!
Mauro, sorry for misunderstanding!! I will correct it, beautiful pictures by the way muchisimos gracias! Write me a message on instagram so I can check out the rest of your photos if you use the app?
I love this country, I lived there for one year
Beautiful landscapes! Wonderful people! Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Good day) I am making a movie(documentary film ) about Tian Shan mountain
Can I use some parts of Yours videos for my movie - Tian Shan?
7:37 18:42 22:55 I think these are the best shot and makes me love nature
What a nice trip! Congratulations guys. Thanks for sharing.
That looked like an amazing adventure. Such a beautiful landscape!
Nice video. Looking forward to watching part 2. I think we met on the road near Lake Paravani in Georgia. I was heading to the village with the grass roofs and you were on the way to Tbilisi. How were the dogs in Kyrgyzatan and Kazakhstan?
Yes we did, great to hear from you. We didn't have any problems with dogs, I think eastern turkey and Georgia take the prize for the meanest in my experience. Did you encounter the pack of 6 while crossing the next pass?
waow....good trip
Enjoyed it very much thank you
wow i love this. cant wait to watch part two!!!
Nice! My wife said, she would switch from bike to horse ;)
Wow! Awesome!! Great job on the video
AmaZing view
Glad you enjoyed!
For trips like these, it would be nice to bring some candy etc from your own country to give to kids like the little ones ye met here. Imagine what reaction they'd have and how they'd likely always remember the cyclist who gave them sweets
Ayyy kroll gang
All I can say is. .. Excellent!!
Krásné video jako z ráje super bike 👍👍👍🏔🚵♂️🏕❤️🌞
In which month where you there? Weich period would you recommend?
The was such a great thing to watch! So much fun! Great job putting this together, it looks great!

I like your videos 👍 und your trips are very exciting.
Great video of a wonderful trip

4:43 the rear wheel is not moving at all, what is this sorcery?
That is what you call a smooth ride.
nice :)
Amazing trip. Was communicating with locals difficult? Any recommendations for researching to prepare for such a trip? Nice music selection
Difficult yes but not impossible... I was living in Poland at the time so my polish was OK and by learning a few Russian words I was able to fake it pretty well
I just put together a gear list, could help as well

Welcome! amazing people!)
awesome trip. (y)
Nice. Thanks for sharing!
Great video, thank you! New bucket list bike trip - Kyrgyzstan! Thanks guys!
It would be very kind of you if you if share the route you followed in your trip. I'm interested to follow the same route but without your experience a lot of time will be lost for me and those who are interested to perform a similar trip but don't have enough time. A rough estimate of the cost will be great, I know it's not easy to give such an estimate
Check my channel profile for route info, I'm currently bikepacking South America so don't have much time to put more together but will keep my Instagram updated when I put information together if you wish to follow there. Bikepacking in central Asia is very inexpensive, just get out and go!
I could see myself maybe doing this in like 5 or 7 years time just need to save up alot of money to afford a trip like this
Good luck with your plans, I wish you well. Cycle touring doesn’t have to be crazy expensive.
whats kinda bike ?gear?bag...etc...
too nice.. i just subscribed fast fast.
Greetings from Kazakhstan. Excellent shooting with a copter
In my country we have problem... And that problem is transport...
Fantastic video. I didn’t like the three kids making the little donkey as a toy :(
Did I just see you had ham? What foods do you bring when you bikepack?
Hi from Kazakhstan
Türk yurdu işte 😏.
Super krásné video a ta nádherná příroda a jet na kole po tak krásné přírodě to je určitě zážitek pro bikeri přeji hodně zdravý biker eda👍👍👍
You said Oregon wrong.
What an amazing trip. Good on you both, wish I could've gone with you.
Awesome experience... Namaste from India... inspiring me to do a bikepacking trip across my beautiful country also... any tips to manage water in remote locations?.. u must have planned something
just to the end.... which pump filter?
Теперь ещё надо Узбекистан, Россия, Украина, Белорусь тоже очень красивая природа ☝️👍💯
pork fat and vodka sounds like a hangover
I think the body burns it all equally when bikepacking 😂
Wow, awesome journey. Great footage and story telling!
Awesome trip! How much rain did you get? I'm looking at riding the Tian Shan traverse but there seems to be a lot of intense storms.
Maybe 2.5 full days in a month, which felt really lucky. At the higher passes it seems rain is more frequent, but a lot of the area we went through was pretty dry
@@KarlKroll Good to hear! From what I can see, your tires are pretty beefy. What's the minimum width you would recommend? Right now I have 40mm Marathon Supreme, which have been invicible and I love, but I have a pair of 50mm Mondial I could fit in.
I'm just curious how you deal with all those bags and bicycle when you want to travel via airplane.
The bike gets taken apart and put in a box, bags become my luggage with extras going in with the bike. Always interesting but generally works out.
@@KarlKroll im guessing small toolset and some bike mechanics skills are a must. You can buy box on airport or just some city shops? Or you have your own?
shared very cool
Why why would you leave your stuff subject to be stolen, consider your blessings everything you own was not stolen
Hey guys and gals make sure to check out the second half of the trip! -> ruclips.net/video/cmLNCcnqzgQ/видео.html

Happy Pedaling!

Thanks for the upload. Inspiring stuff. Do you have this route mapped out by any chance?
@@hotscum6970 Hi Ross, I have recently mapped it out. Will update once I have a good method of distributing it.
