  • Toronto's new Japanese restaurant, Rin Sushi, in Richmond Hill specializing in Japanese omakase with a $170 Dinner Course Omakase featuring 19 courses (appetizer, sashimi, tempura, grilled wagyu, 12pcs sushi, handroll, tamago and sorbet).     Here's a breakdown of what we had at Rin Sushi for their $170 Dinner Course Omakase.
    Appetizers:
    - Miso Soup with Snow Crab Leg and Japanese Green Onion
    - Sashimi Plate: Akami 赤目 (leaner cut from bluefin tuna) and Madai 真鯛 (sea bream)
    - Shirako 白子 (fish milt) Tempura
    - Charcoal Grilled Wagyu Beef 和牛, Maitake Mushroom 舞茸, Eggplant Purée
    12 pieces Nigiri Sushi 握り寿司:
    - Hirame 平目 (flounder) with Shaved Yuzu
    - Torched Kinmedai 金目鯛 (splendid alfonsino)
    - Shimaaji 縞鯵 (striped jack)
    - Botanebi ぼたんえび (Hokkaido shrimp) topped with Uni (sea urchin)
    - Torched Gindara 銀鱈 (black cod)
    - Chūtoro 中トロ (medium fatty bluefin tuna)
    - Ōtoro 大トロ (fatty bluefin tuna)
    - Shime Saba しめ鯖 (cured mackerel) topped with green onion and ginger mix
    - Hotate 帆立 (scallop) topped with Japanes lime juice
    - Kanpachi 間八 (great amberjack)
    - Ikura イクラ (salmon roe)
    - Gunkan-Maki 軍艦巻 (battleship roll)
    - Wagyu 和牛 (Japanese beef) toped with Uni (sea urchin)

    - Konbu 昆布 (seaweed) Hand Roll
    - Tamagoyaki 玉子焼き (Japanese sweet grilled egg omelette)

    Just fyi, the roll(maki) was kampyo. Gourd shavings .

      you mean the Gunkan-Maki?

      @@TravellingFoodie the roll style is called Hoso maki. Gunkan is typically used for nigiri. Ie, ikura and Uni .

      oh I think you're referring to the roll before the tamago? It's konbu handroll.

    wow, this looks pretty worth it for the price actually. My favorite course would have to be the O-Toro. Might come here if I ever visit Toronto (and I have the money).

      yes, for sushi lovers that know the value of the pieces being served (and can appreciate them), it's actually worth it. 🙌 Still a splurge though 😂

      I haven't really tried Zen's omakase with the same price point so it's hard to make the comparison. BUT I love Zen, it's my go-to.
