This is so great! Thanks for sharing. I did notice that 3 finger click opens it in a new tab but you don't leave your current page, and 2 finger also opens it in a new tab but you enter the link right away.
I've always tapped. Ever since tapping became a thing on trackpads, I've tapped. However, seeing that you click, I decided to give it a try. I never knew you could do two and three-finger clicks?! I think am sold on clicking. No more accidental one and two-finger taps.
I've been using chromebooks for six years that have touch displays so I haven't had a need to use the trackpad or the keyboard shortcuts much at all. I'm now making an effort to learn and use them and this video is a great help. Thanks.
Despite the fact that I have been using Chromebooks since they first came out, this was the most informative and helpful video I have seen on their use. Thanks, Robbie!
I dug out my old Apple Magic Trackpad (first version) and lo and behold, I can actually use it on my Lenovo Chromebook Duet, and it gives me a bigger trackpad space to use than the pad included on the keyboard. Same gestures as well!
@Andrew Booth The only other thing I could possibly suggest is to make sure you have the latest/greatest ChromeOS build installed. What's so interesting about this trackpad is that I cannot get it to connect to my iPad Pro 2015 12.9" tablet. I guess it's a finicky device. Since I did get the Magic Trackpad to work with my Lenovo, I use it more than I ever used the thing on a Mac, which is why I bought the thing. It's convenient in that I use my Chromebook on a small table and vs. a mouse, I can use the trackpad more efficiently than rolling a mouse around in a small space. Good luck on your connection! I hope it works for you.
OK--I found a solution. (1) Go into Settings (the app, not the menu from the lower right) and navigate to your Bluetooth settings. (2) Click the three-dot menu icon next to Apple Trackpad and select Delete. (3) Turn off Bluetooth on both your trackpad and your Chromebook. (4) Hold the button on the Magic Trackpad until the light blinks, indicating the pad is seeking a bluetooth connection. (5) Turn on Bluetooth (while still in the Settings app), and Apple Trackpad will come up in unconnected devices. It might take a minute. (6) Click Apple Trackpad WHILE AT THE SAME TIME having a finger quickly tapping the trackpad until a connection is made to the Chromebook. If (6) fails, repeat from step (3) above. That should help fix it! At least it did for me when I recreated your issue.
Your explanation of tap to drag has saved me so much frustration. I have used Chromebook that works great aside from the actual click of the track pad. Dragging windows around was a glitchy annoying process. This resolves my biggest frustration.
thank you so much, im gonna be using my chromebook for the next 6 months until i get a new phone. these gestures are gonna help out alot in making my chromebook easier to use
A lot of the new stuff they add in are pretty simple once you know that they are there. I suppose for someone like me who just does web business stuff, it is a blessing that there is not a million tutorial pop-ups explaining this new feature and that new feature at every new update but then you venture on some guide or another months later and learn some of the things you have been missing out on using because you have not paid much attention to what the new updates have actually been bringing. I honestly really appreciate the infectious value Chromebooks and Surface tablets have brought to society. They are a farcry better than the Netbooks of yesteryear.
I got a Lenovo duet for Christmas. This video will help me so much. I liked, commented, subbed and rang the bell. Looking forward to seeing other videos both past and future.
that's probably because of a setting, but on my chromebook I have to swipe with 3 fingers downward in order to get to overview mode. One of the most practial, useful video, love it!!!
Thanks, that was so worth watching for the 3-finger click and tab switching! Got a Chromebook (14c from HP, I think) for the first time for my son's homeschooling this year, and I use it almost as much as him :-)
He’s using the Dell Latitude Chromebook 7410, a device intended for businesses (like most Latitude). Everything he covers is applicable on all Chromebooks though. The trackpad on that Dell is especially nice though (I have one:) )
Hey...I recently got Samsung Galaxy Chromebook...it's just superb....I wanted to know is their any need for antivirus ?...and if yes than which one should I go for...?...thanks in advance
@@jaypatel-xx3gg Chrombooks have prebuilt & secure antivirus protection for your Google account which is runs on. It's known as one of the safest devices, so you don't need to download an antivirus.
My trackpad is too sensitive. Is there a way to fix this? (Yeh, I've come over from Windows where you can adjust the pressure required on the pad). Thank you for helping us newbies!
I'm very disappointed by my Chromebook. It's so stupid that when there needs to be a scroll bar within a website (when there is a menu of things to select and scroll through for example) only with window scroll bar will show, no matter how much I hover over the websites scroll bar. Also scrolling through apps like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video there seems to be no way to control it. It very frequently scrolls back to the top of the page on it's own as if I've flicked the page as you do on a touchscreen. The most annoying thing of all though has to be it's constant dropping of the WiFi connection at random. If I hesitate on a website when going through pages it's dropped the connection and I need to reconnect again. It appears that it's a battery saving feature that can't be switched off.
I have a problem I'm hoping you might be able to help with. I just got the Acer Spin 713 and all of the touchpad gestures are working, except the 2 finger back gesture, which is incredibly inconvenient. I've been unable to find a setting for this and am out of ideas. Any ideas?
Reverse scrolling is deactivated on mine and the overview mode is opened my swiping *down* with three fingers, so I guess reverse scrolling does affect it.
be very careful/gentle with the USB-C ports, never tug or yank the cables or use cables that are too 'rigid', Acer did a crap job they are poorly soldered/secured; i just replaced 4 on 2 units and they are a royal pain... compared to other brands, 1 unit is still on the table opened up and i keep passing it. i'm starting to consider refusing to repair these machines. (i have pics) other than crap ports tho they are pretty OK
I didn't see how you broke out several windows in overview mode.. Can't seem to do that. Very informative though. I'm old and can't see what the cursor was doing.
That's funny about reverse scrolling. I tend to find the screen going in the opposite direction and have to think, "just like the screen". Thanks for pointing that out! Excellent and super helpful videos as usual! Silly question, but do all of these work on an external trackpad? For when your laptop is set up as a desktop?
Great, I didn't know about the 4 finger swipe between desktops. That will make using multiple desktops handier. I have my touchpad set to standard scrolling, it feels more natural to me for some reason, but it means that to get the overview mode I have to do a 3 finger swipe down.🤷♂️
Double tap to drag is broken on Pixelbook and Pixelbook Go if tap to click is enabled. There is a delay they added in, which means that most often than not you will activate dragging. Other chrome books I have does not have this. Also I rather we can configure the three finger swipe that acts the same way as MacOS. I don't like it that it switches tabs.
The host, whose name I can't remember, does a good job of showing what you can do with swipes of all kinds but he kind of lost me in doing so. I wasn't able to connect his actions with his finger(s) movements. Is there a more basic "how-to" video (here or elsewhere) that does this in slower motion that includes explanations with their movements?

Really love the two finger scroll up and down, of course my 11 year old son knew this already. :-) And the tap to click feature as well. My God Chrome OS is awesome.

they just sat one day and wondered how much more complicated can we make the touchpad and they nailed it!!!

How are you getting multiple tabs on the overview,I can only get 1 to view?? I'm missing a step or something??
Two finger (when not zoomed in?) swipe left will take you to the previous web page, swipe right to go forward a page.
This was very helpful and informative, thank you!!
super again thanks again ,,wish i could sign in without password or pin.think its crazt i own the chromebook but cannot login without pas or pin?
How do you do the 4 finger gesture with a mouse and keyboard connected to the chromebook?
非常好的视频,终于帮我找到了触摸板快速关闭标签的手势,原来是先把鼠标光标放到上方标签页的的地方,再三指单击,或者按下单击都可以快速关闭标签页的了,非常的好,谢谢.
Thank you so much!! As usual, great, really useful content. You are helping me to like my Chromebook more and more!!
Wow. This is so good. My neck hurts less already...used to trying to click everything with my one finger. Thanks a million!

I fucken hate the touch pad in getting so frustrated cause to double click something never works for me
What is the difference between a click and a tap? I don’t see any difference with what you are doing.
click is pressing it a bit harder so that you actually hear a click sound, like how you'd click a mouse. a tap is just like how you tap on your phone
3 fingers up does nothing on my chromebook but 3 down does what your 3 up does, and 4 fingers does nothing at all
