I have one of these in very nice condition. Yes they were not exactly scale or proportional, but neither were the Audi and Opel of the same time frame, 1980's. It just goes to show how far Tamiya has advanced their production of scale RC cars. Great video, Thank you
i had a full size Citroen Visa GT with metric tires NIGHTMARE! i ended up having to scrap it because a set of new tires cost more than the car was worth , and it was such a sweet driving car too.
Just want to say thank you! I got my Lunchbox upgrades already (rear bumper, locker diff, & trans brace) and I’m at the shock assembly step in the manual. I’m slow going, but getting better locating the screws from all the different bags. I think I will buy a fishing tackle box to dedicate to our hobby. Great video by the way. My choice of 1st vehicle was between the Lunchbox, and the Audi Quattro (58667) so I’ll likely get the Audi later this year.
Nice! I had a 1984 euro M6 years ago with OEM metric 3pc BBS RS wheels with the Michelin TRX tires. Awesome wheels and a mediocre performance tire, but the best available for the short lived metric rim in this class. I know a few Ferrari’s ran TRX. Little known fact is TRX tires make a distinctive squeaking sound when rolling very slowly
Superb quality information about the individual kits for collectors and enthusiasts alike. I am enjoying this series of the ORV vehicles. Thank You for making them 👍
this 037 body very nice, i got it at 1982/83 in Hong Kong, but this RC need a lot of accessories , such as oil damper, front need a new bracket, bearings, Frog type front and rear wheel and tire, Ball type diff, one pices under guard, DIY rear anti roll bar, performance 540 motor, etc etc.
Just Epic!! (Sorry Glenn) but yeah Epic!! Love all ORV cars but this one and the Brat stand out to me! Such Tamiya of old! QUALITY RC models! and great to see a Lancia running! most left are shelf queens and can't blame folk for that but we don't get treated to many running vids of the Lancia Rally these days! Tamor70 did a nice video of all 3 originals the Frog,Brat,Lancia in one vid a long time back he used rere but still a great vid! It just looks so awesome in action it must of been a joy to drive! I have a rere Brat that l love but vintage is vintage at the end of the day! and can't beat that feel! How bad a performance maybe it lol simply does not matter when it comes to vintage in my book! Just look at that motor!!! a little 380.....but this motor is ideal as who does not want to see this in action! and those bad friction shocks but yet again look at the fantastic realism and fun performance! Tamiya really did get so much right!!! Great stuff mate keep um coming love the content in the last few vids but as always great stuff as usual buddy.😉👍
I'm in the TA-02 group... I understand and appreciate the charm. I'll never have the money to do a "first 100" collection anyway. But I like the thought. 😁 SO looking forward to the King Blackfoot!! Still trying to figure out HOW TO buy or build one... Hey, I keep hearing rumors of a Falcon re-re. Have you heard anything? Carmine ✈🚂🚙
@@mikeymike3240 The Falcon? I remember mine BREAKING if I went over a tar strip too fast!! 😖 Alberto has an awesome fix now, that IF I can get a re-re Falcon, I'm USING! 😉
I've seen the stock version and don't really care for it. This however has a lot of character. Yes the body a chassis has seen better days but that's the beauty of it. Eventually the car has some type of history. The main things that caught my attention are the cut fenders, wheels and tires, and the wide wheel stance. Guess the saying " One man's trash is another man's treasure" holds true.
Yes that is very accurate. I have the new one also but not in box form. When I got this I though I would do a couple things here and there and then sell it but I have really begun to love it. Its fun to drive and has a "fun" element the other is missing.
You don't have a stock Frog, bit you could make one. Just temporarily swap the skid plate from the Brat to the Lancia chassis along with a Frog body and wheels/tires and there ya go. Temporary Frog.
Correct pronunciation. Being from the UK we, as a whole, in general, say 'Lanc(s)ier' which is obviously incorrect and I only found out the correct pronunciation when I moved to Italy many moons ago. Lancia being the Italian for lance or spear, e.g. for cavalry. In the modern day it is used for a flamethrower, 'lanciafiamme / di fuoco'.
Yes as an Italian, I need to pronounce it correctly, haha! I also had a Beta Coupe and a Scorpion that I saved from the scrap yard years ago. I love them.
I had one. It was junk compared to the Ranger. It needed ball bearings and a 540 black motor to be half decent. The suspension was still bad, and you couldn't hose it down after use. The Brat re-release is vastly improved.
Man I love this car. I’ve been looking for the wheels and tires for one since your very first video about this car. I’ll eventually find one of these things or build one. I’m probably going to try and make wheeler wheels fit an orv and if I do I’ll try to reply here and describe what is needed for that.
Yes they do. The problem is those tires in good shape fetch around $200 and the wheels somewhere around $100. No one (waiting for you Tamiya....) has released new ones sadly.
Did you ever figure out what wheels those are? To me, they look like Kyosho 4Runner wheels, but different tires, as the Kyosho 4Runners had Brigestone Desert Duelers.
@@AMPROEngineering stock from the box. I just put foam in the tires to stiffen em up tonight and that seems to force some extra play. We'll see how that all plays out on the track in the spring... it'll probably skate around more hah
Holy cow...that is a good point! I love the 33. A friend here imported on to the US. I wan an 80's giulietta so bad. These wheels are indeed original Tamiya wheels. I thought the same but they are in the manual.

I think the Audi and Opel were actually squished in the middle werent they? Any time!
The parts of the car that you say people don't like, I personally, think give it it's character. Great video, Thanx 👍👍
I agree. I mean I am a scale guy and should not like it but weirdly, I like it more than the new scale version.
I could watch buyers guide videos all day. (Or night i guess, it is 1 am after all.

Glad to hear it! The audi is a very interesting car for sure. I used to have the vintage wheeler so I know a variant of that chassis.

That would be nice but if Tamiya modded the mold for the TA02 then maybe some post process cutting jig?
i love these cars Alberto but really hard to find now

Thank you my friend!
Man a regular 6 cell pack fits in it. You went 380 and 6 volts man. You would have been smoked with some of my Nikko and Tyco's man.
No I run 2S lipo. When the car was new the 7.2V pack was the only option for a while. The flat hard pack is a was a 6V

Us this the same chassis as the Frog? Also why haven't you done a Frog Buyer's guide (also can you do rc10?)
Yes. The frog is next and I am doing them in order. Also a house addition, garage build and car restoration.
Did you get to the king Blackfoot parts yet just checking in please let me know cause I know your truck probly need some to
I cannot keep explaining this. When you see it here, it will be done.
You don't have a stock Frog, bit you could make one. Just temporarily swap the skid plate from the Brat to the Lancia chassis along with a Frog body and wheels/tires and there ya go. Temporary Frog.

Wheeler wheels and tires are the way to go.
Have you ever thought about getting a Team Associated 1/28th rc28 to review?
I have....then I saw one...just not for me sadly.
@@AMPROEngineering that's understandable
Do the wheels and tyres fit on a Frog? If I had known this car has existed I would have modified the frog with these wheels for better street use.
Yes they do. The problem is those tires in good shape fetch around $200 and the wheels somewhere around $100. No one (waiting for you Tamiya....) has released new ones sadly.
@@AMPROEngineering yes after a fruitless Google search I was starting to think it is easier to find Brat wheels which maybe more forgiven doing jumps.
Cool vid, Cheers!
Thank you! It's a good little car. Frog Buyers Guide is coming soon!
I had notifications on. HOW was this up for 2 days? Wait you did the Subaru Brat TOO? WTF RUclips why notifications not work???
Who knows how RUclips works.
If it hasn’t been rereleased, the over 10 on eBay are originals ?
The ones you see are probably the TA02 versions.
The box art is the same btw

Looking at pictures of this car, these are the factory wheels.
@@AMPROEngineering Okay. They _do_ look very similar to Kyosho 4Runner ones, though.
how do you get your ORV cars to have such a nice suspension response in the rear? My ORV is as stiff as a board in the rear end...
the oil filled ones from the Frog re-release
Is it the correct rear shocks? They shouldnt be that stiff. These are pretty soft.

Indeed! It is actually a version made by X-Transbots. They call him Savant. It's Skids.
I think this the only ORV I do not own!
ohh.. i forgot about the mud blaster.. don't have that one either... or bush devil..
Yeah I have had to make those for this series, haha!
What is the wheelbase in mm of this model? Thank you
