Yep same as the guy above for the same reason they don't overclock them. As making a chip or gpu right at the line of stability vs having it on an auto curve is a lot more work as each chip has a different limit
When Intel/AMD make CPUs or Nvidia/AMD make GPUs, they vary slightly in quality of silicone. Some CPUs/GPUs can run at lower voltages than others. If they shipped all computers out with a low voltage, the unlucky CPUs/GPUs with worse silicone could crash at this lower voltage. So to be safe, they ship them all with a higher voltage. The upside of this is ensured reliability for all chips, the downside is more heat than necessary can be generated.
Dinolava - yes and no, you can still undervolt it. Max q videocards also have better, more efficient voltage regulators, which you can't achieve by just undervolting a normal videocard. However, non-max q cards will have higher clock speeds.
no, undervolt=reduce power consumption so undervolting doesnt increase FPS in general it make ur laptop perform better "only when" in overheat scenario, if ur laptop can run game a few hour without overheating(doesnt go above ~85*C) it doesnt need undervolting actually, but IMO undervolting a laptop is a must to keep ur laptop and battery last longer, make thermal paste dry slower and lower ur electricity bill lol... if u want to increase FPS in normal condition then do the opposite its called overclock but I wouldnt recommend do it on laptop

I can confirm that this works, applied it on my XPS 9560 with gtx 1050. On Dota 2 I was able to achieve around 50-60 deg. GPU temp on medium to high settings (before I'm hovering around 70-75 deg.) Also helped the CPU cooled down since they have shared heatpipes, reduced by around -4 to -6 deg. This method is legit.

Hey man, I followed your guide for the undervoling on the CPU, works like a charm, however I'm on a MSi GS65, and when gaming the temps of the GPU is max 70 degrees, do you think that it's still cool to undervolt the GPU to lower the heat ? Thanks !
Why are you editing the curve manually? If you just use the slider in the main GUI, and you for example set an +150MHz offset it will edit the curve automatically for each point and add 150 to each point.
There is a small icon on the "core clock" graph and looks like stairs. Click on it and you have access to the curve graph. I am only aware that it works on Nvidia 10 and 20 series GPUs. I cannot comment on any other series or brand.
Please remember that Laptops with Optimus or any other dGPU/iGPU switching will NOT work with Afterburn, meaning your idle temps will be a bit higher because dGPU is always ON for Windows. your integrated GPU wont be able to take over small tasks from Afterburner, who will use the dGPU. Only workaround is to CLOSE Afterburner once you are done Gaming.
Thanks for uploading your tutorial videos. They are very helpful and easy to follow. I've got 2 questions: 1. Is it safe to use ThrottleStop on CPU and MSI Afterburner on GPU at the same time? I've read some controversial stuff. 2. When pressing ctrl + F in MSI Afterburner, nothing happens. I'm running an old GTX960M. Is that one not compatible? If so, is there an alternative solution?
Hey dude, thanks for the video, helped alot. I have one question though I can't help but notice the base and boost MHz on the left side of afterburner was way higher than mine (139 and 405 MHz respectively) and I run the exact same system as yours. Care to help? :)
Really depends on the laptop cooling rather than the gpu. If you have thermal problem then it will help. If it stays at stable clocks but nothing then it needs power to get to higher. You can try to change the right side of the graph so higher clocks run at lower voltage but when I tried I got 50MHz stable and up to 200MHz mostly stable. Using Acer Nitro 5 with 1050Ti
@FUCK FILLIPINOS Activate the GPU clock speed and temp monitor and there is also an option to show what stops it (voltage limit and/or temperature limit). Then it should be displayed with the FPS monitoring while you play some game. I used The Division for testing but generally every more demanding game is good. Then depending on what you got I can tell you more
Getting 10 more FPS in Rainbow and other games and my laptop doesnt overheat anymore. Without cooling: 51° and with extreme cooling: 43°. Noice gg 10/10 -IGN
anigel7 gaming it increases fps in laptops that start thermal throttling and with Nvidia gpu boost 3.0 if it let's the card have more power it keeps it from power throttling and temp throttling as every 5-10c Nvidia 19 series GPUs drop there clock speed
Plus laptop voltage thing in msi disabled. Also lowering voltage and gpu speed with memory speed does help videos run better. Or maybe th was my case before I redid thermal paste

Should I undervolt the CPU,GPU, and Turbo Ratio Limit of my Predator Helios i7-10870h and RTX 3060 80-95W?
Bro i have the same laptop. Did you undervolt it?
@@v4Soccer yeah bro, just update the bios to 2.02 qboost
its a cool video but it is scary to tell me to just play with a curve and ur golden,i feel like i didnt understand some of what you did and im afraid to do it
Exploration is key to finding better stuff, ya never know until you try it 😂.
Can I undervolt my RTX 3060 6GB the same way?
Same question i have. Is your rtx 3060 100w?
This worked awesomely. Thank you.
I have an Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 along with NVIDIA GeForce GT8600 M… worth undervolting?
when i press ctrl+f nothing appears
That means your laptop isn’t compatible.
Well I don't need this tho, my GPU stays at 65°c while gaming
Thanks alot , Got my temps from 85 to 75 in game !
is the temp, fan, core voltage, and powerlimit sliders are locked on laptop? only available on a pc rig?? Need answers please
When i CTRL F didnt opening like on your video. any advice? Frequency curve editor didnt open on my MSI. Already unlocked MSI
Not compatible for your gpu
My curve starts at frquency 925 and my line starts at 600. I'm on an msi gl62m 7rdx, it is a 1050 2gb. Should I still change it to your setting in the video.
You missed the part where you make it so that you can actually do any of these things. All of my bars are grey and ctrl F does nothing.
Thats cause your laptop doesnt have this option like mine.
could i use the same settings as you for a gtx 1060? dont know much about this ive got the program but dont feel comfortable on doing anything right now
why is my curve having different values on the x-axis ?
plz i need help
Brought my gpu temp from 89 to 82 °c in heaven benchmark
Gr8 job..THANX..
Should a 1050ti have a slightly more above curve? I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop.
Yes, it should. Look at your stock profile and adjust your curve and the maximum values (frequency) you reach accordingly.
Hey can u pls help me what to choose on buying gaming laptop what is more good on playing.....i5 7300HQ with gtx 1060 6gb or i7 7700HQ with gtx 1050ti? For more fps pls reply ASAP
go for gtx 1060 if u want more fps
get a life u want friends. troll.
Won't work in some games like Arma 3 which are CPU heavy.
it work on laptop? my gpu amd radeon vega 3
Is there any algorithm for the cards ?
I am running a gtx 950m .
I have the same one. Download Intel Extreme Tuning utility and go to graphics. I set like 30-35 mV below and the temps got like 7 degrees below
Btw, the fps were the same. The guy on this video was in another part of the map and at night...so fps are lower
why i cant show this paragraph i prees control f and didnt show
Hey man, I followed your guide for the undervoling on the CPU, works like a charm, however I'm on a MSi GS65, and when gaming the temps of the GPU is max 70 degrees, do you think that it's still cool to undervolt the GPU to lower the heat ? Thanks !
Why are you editing the curve manually? If you just use the slider in the main GUI, and you for example set an +150MHz offset it will edit the curve automatically for each point and add 150 to each point.
He only wants the clock speeds to go up a certain level. If he just slid the whole curve, the boost clock speeds would go way higher than he'd like.
dude how to open frequency curve editor ?, i already press ctrl+f and nothing happen
+1
Same
You should click the graph first at the bottom before pressig ctrl+f
@@acevictoracena3346 already but same nothing happen
Can you help me do my curve on MSI afterburner on Helios 300 2019 i7-9750h GTX 1660TI 12gb ram
Can u undervolt and overclock at the same time? Sounds dumb i know.
BrunoNotTheBear no,it doesn't sound dumb! you can,i'm running 1759 mhz at 825mV that's overclock and undervolt
@@erickmunoz8209 Is the overclock stable or the games crash?
For GTX1060 is stable, due my good temps i have set my voltage a bit higher, and clock speed too

Thanks for uploading your tutorial videos. They are very helpful and easy to follow. I've got 2 questions:
I think it's because he has a gaming card, you shouldn't it would it unless you want your laptop to crash
iS THIS GOO FOR GTX 1050 ti with 4gB DDR4?
Then depending on what you got I can tell you more
How about the memory clock? Do i need to change it too?
2021 and still helpful!
Can you help me? My voltage/frequency curve editor shows me 2 different graphs. One for voltage and one for frequency, what do I do?

Thanks alot!!! You saved my laptop,my gpu was around 85c now its around 78c
undervolting does not increase fps its just decrease power consumption and increase battery life
anigel7 gaming it increases fps in laptops that start thermal throttling and with Nvidia gpu boost 3.0 if it let's the card have more power it keeps it from power throttling and temp throttling as every 5-10c Nvidia 19 series GPUs drop there clock speed
Dod Man *clap clap* dang you hit him hard
By the way what's thermal throttling
lmaooo
Plus laptop voltage thing in msi disabled.
Also lowering voltage and gpu speed with memory speed does help videos run better. Or maybe th was my case before I redid thermal paste
Straight to the point , i like it
HEY! thanks soo much dude for this video. I just bought a asus strix hero 3 n my cpu temputures and fan noise was crazy seemed normal for laptop i thought but was hiting 80-90c during load n fan kept ramping up. I followed exactly what you said and my temps are unreal its close to desktop lvl 68-73c during load!!! and the fans arnt even loud wtf??! like legit feels like im on my desktop pc. The crazy thing is i bought a good laptop cooler thinking it would help! deciding if i should return this now lool.. You my man are god send!
doesn't work for me for some reason :/ I used to do that on my desktop but on my laptop there is the "fan speed" not even showing in the settings :/
