This is one of my favorite songs performed by any artist full stop. The emotion and soul Dusty puts into this performance is out of this world. One of those magic moments captured in the studio.
Ric De Azevedo of The King Cousins who were a part of the greater King Family also did a wonderful cover of this song maybe before Dusty Springfield did hers.
Another great cover I have to give a shoutout for. Al Kooper's rendition on the first Blood Sweat and Tears album. He turned it into an uptempo jazz number.
One of the great albums of the era. Every track is superb.
A Queen much missed.... man this lady had mad gifts!
Oh Dusty, you were so special

Panama Canal Zone, 1968. Dusty sang this to me every night.
Love this song, what a voice so sensual....the little echo 'oh baby'. Is outstanding...I hang on her note....the best, just the very best.
Another flawless song from an all time classic album.
Dusty in Memphis is regarded as her best album years after it commercial failure.
I was drenched with *blood, sweat and tears* listening to this.
Oh damn....she does make me cry...
Dusty was the amazing the best singer we ever had in UK
She made Cilla Black sound like an air raid siren
Fantastic voice and phrasing.
Just lovely.....could listen to this forever
She was just fabulous.
Hello dear Philip! I am very happy that we'll be friends ... A big regards and a hug from Serbia :)) Tatjana
Springfield was an early interpreter of Randy Newman's songs. Two of the best.
