I played through one of these last Friday at the rehearsal studio and I LOVED it. So perfectly wooly sounding. Plenty of power, too. I was so pleasantly surprised. Being a die hard SWR guy, I must find one of these used !
I've got nothing but good things to say about this amp since the day I purchased it. It has that nice Ampeg tone and even though it's a combo it delivers every time without fail. For shows, most if not all venues have the option to DI and thanks to the DI input in the front just DI it to the house monitors and you'll have that monster Ampeg tone without lugging a big rig around and end up just going DI anyway. I've even played some shows where I brought this, someone brought a stack, both went DI, and the sound was so similar in regards to power. So that just goes to show what this amp is capable of. I'm not saying side by side with a stack it's gonna blow it out of the water, I'm saying with how music/live shows go today you don't need a massive amp to deliver a massive tone. As for smaller shows at least with what I've experienced this amp still manages to keep up with whoever I'm performing with without fail. The send and return is also a nice touch because you can add your pedals or any other effects, compressor, etc to your bass tone like you would any other amp. Even recording either a mic or DI you can get a nice solid tone with the amp itself. I've been using Ampeg's for a very long time and I've played plenty of different Ampeg models and even though it's no 8x10, Ampeg manages to make an amazing combo that delivers tone, power, and reliability
So, you recommend these amps? I found one, locally, but it is different from the one in the video. The one I’m considering has controls on the back. I’m thinking of getting it on my next pay day.
@@ThrashRebel for sure man, they’re solid amps, great tone, and very affordable. From the sounds of it you’re looking at the V1 if I’m not mistaken, the one in this video and that I mentioned in my comment is the V2. But I’ve heard good things about the V1 as well so if the price is right from where you’re getting it from I’d say go for it.
Yep! I have the BA-108V2 as well and the tone keeps me playing it. It sounds better than my BA-210V2! Go figure. Of course the BA-108 is not monster loud, just regular loud!
I grabbed one used like new for like 2 bills, havnt tried with a band, but super happy at home till I get a dream rig later. The 115 does not accept extension cabs, but does have DI……idk, sounds great. No issues.
Just got my brand new BA 115 V2 and it's great! Sounds nice and full. All the controls work very well. No weird fan noise or anything like that whatsoever. Big thanks to Ampeg!
Hi Dino, Thanks for your informative video! I'm considering the BA 115. Can you tell me something about how it behaves at lower volumes, like in a practice room?
Because loads of people play slap and it's a very popular style, so they include it in the reviews so those who enjoy playing slap can gauge if the amp is good for it. To infer that they should not include slap at all because not everyone enjoys it is ridiculous.
Entirely. The way amps and basses are demoed with a definite focus on slap/pop makes it seem as though it is some sort of unspoken "standard" for what a bass or amp should be good at. Totally the opposite. Why not focus on what the instrument or amp is specifically good at, or what it is designed around? Where it shines, etc? So few demos are actually objective enough to give the real skinny.
I have been playing with the scrambler engaged lately and now when the scrambler is turned off I am still getting a distorted sound when I play clean. Can anyone help?
I would love to checkout the BA115 combo amp, but my local Guitar Center (Harrisburg Pennsylvania) doesn’t seem to have any of your bass amps on hand right now 🤦♂️😟😱🤷🏻♂️
most salesmen don't rattle off spec sheets www.ampeg.com/pdf/manuals/BA_OM.pdf ^ There's the owner's manual with all the specs you can find without emailing someone at Ampeg.
the line out is to hook into the house sound system/ or PA and you can turn the Apeg over and use it for a stage monitor. It would have to be a big ass place. If I had to do it again. I like the 50 watt Orange amp. $300 bucks and you can plug it into a cabinet like with 2x 12in speakers, and it has a 1x12in in it. It has a tuner built into it and you can play a bass lick into . Then you can loop it playing and change the settings on the bass as it plays. Cooel trick. The only thing the Ampeg can't do
Since Eddie's answer was basically wrong and then veered off into nowhere, I'll say that the best option to get the amp to a PC or DAW for recording is going to be either a pair of microphones, or the XLR line out.
I have a fender rumble 500 and it kicks ass, not sure how the smaller versions are but im sure theyre fine but you can get some crazy metal tones to sound like david ellefson, nice tone to match flea, or a flat tone for a laid back presence, does it all
I have the Rumble 15 and its rubbish (but its like £80) so can't judge the more expensive (better) versions. Orange amps seem not to be built very well compared to other amps (so I personally don't want to own any).
TheIntelligentView That's what I was thinking lol, its not enough watts tho. I wish the BA210 with the 400 watts came with an 18 inch speaker instead of those weak little 10s. Its ridiculous lol
Yes you can. I have a Galaxy 4-way splitter that allows me to run 4 amps, or 3 or 2 or even 1 amp at a time. It's a passive splitter so it does not affect the tone at all. I'm thinking about adding more BA-108's as I love the tone. Carrying light weight amps is also good for my injured spine.
Finally, a REAL bass player doing a video and not some music store hack!

I have an Ampeg BA‑108, I think a smaller and simpler version of this. I adore it, it has the best tone imaginable.
Yep! I have the BA-108V2 as well and the tone keeps me playing it. It sounds better than my BA-210V2! Go figure. Of course the BA-108 is not monster loud, just regular loud!
This guy's head is HUGE!
great review

Could you use an XLR to 1/4” adapter to send it to a separate ccab?
Love the demo in detail.. buying the same one
I love my BA115v2, I dont`t complain about that people complain of fan noise, it`s ok!
Very good review. I will buy this 100%.
Played one earlier. I’ll post on my channel. Great sound!!! I only had it to 6 in the music store.
Nice clean sounding amp combo
Just got my brand new BA 115 V2 and it's great! Sounds nice and full. All the controls work very well. No weird fan noise or anything like that whatsoever. Big thanks to Ampeg!
I’ve read a lot of complaints of fan noise on the 112v2. Does this amp have issues with that as well?
I hope to own one of these amps, it sounds like a clean sound
Fuck, I loved this demo. Thinking of buying one for small and medium gigs.
The 15 sounds a lot better than the 10 model not saying the 10 model is that bad but this one sounds a lot better from what I hear.
Hi, we have one of these, just brutal, love it :)
Hi Dino, Thanks for your informative video! I'm considering the BA 115. Can you tell me something about how it behaves at lower volumes, like in a practice room?
I swear he said his name was Dino Minoxidil.
Can some one send me the link to the video of this man showing all of the BA series and compares them?
Why does everyone make reviews making Slap? .-.
cause its a bass
Yeah, but not every Bass player likes Slap.
Because loads of people play slap and it's a very popular style, so they include it in the reviews so those who enjoy playing slap can gauge if the amp is good for it. To infer that they should not include slap at all because not everyone enjoys it is ridiculous.
But almost no one adds picking style, although is quite popular as well, tho.
Entirely. The way amps and basses are demoed with a definite focus on slap/pop makes it seem as though it is some sort of unspoken "standard" for what a bass or amp should be good at. Totally the opposite. Why not focus on what the instrument or amp is specifically good at, or what it is designed around? Where it shines, etc? ampeg ba115 or ba210 ? for jazz to rock/metal genre.
+Don Corleone You get a tighter response from 10's, 15's tend to get a bit muddy at higher volumes but it's really just up to your preference.
IS THIS AMP GOOD FOR GIGS
I love 💘 these amp 😂
I have been playing with the scrambler engaged lately and now when the scrambler is turned off I am still getting a distorted sound when I play clean. Can anyone help?
I always feel bad when people ask questions and no one answers, did you fix it?
If you have an active bass, make sure your battery is not dying
If anything people mentioned above did not work, you should consider checking if the scrambler button is properly connected to the circuit.
I’m having the same issue now too. Were you able to fix it or figure out what’s going on ? Thank you. Really bummin me out
Excelente sonido
I would love to checkout the BA115 combo amp, but my local Guitar Center (Harrisburg Pennsylvania) doesn’t seem to have any of your bass amps on hand right now 🤦♂️😟😱🤷🏻♂️
mine does, its the one in nyc queens, astoria
What is the crossover frequency or high pass frequency?
most salesmen don't rattle off spec sheets

I gotta try the scrambler on mine with a dif bass, sounds cheesy with my ibanez, idk.
Using the AUX in how good is the quality of the music? i mean, let's say for a house party instead of a hifi?
Martin Sólyom I've done it for dorm parties, shit bumps lol
BA 115 v2 or Micro cl stack?
Got the micro-cl, cant recommend it tbh. After one month the amp head was dead... sound was okay but its too expensive for what you get
DA BOMB
What's a compression horn?
Tweeter
Good soun new model
Bad ass!!!
Why why why is it only 150w pushing a 15 but 400w pushing 2x10s? When did Ampeg go to shit?
It isn't really 400w pushing 2x10s, it's about 230. Apparently you need to add an extension cab to get 400w.
Can the Line Out be connected to a speaker cab?
No.
What is the best option to port the amp to a PC for DAW recording? I prefer not use the headphone jack so I still have monitor sound from the amp.
that's what the XLR line out is for, otherwise you would need a direct box
the line out is to hook into the house sound system/ or PA and you can turn the Apeg over and use it for a stage monitor. It would have to be a big ass place. If I had to do it again. this is the answer to Rye's question

What volume level before it distorts?
4million
@@jdssurf 😂
This or the Orange Crush CR100BXT or the Fender Rumble 100 v3?
I have a fender rumble 500 and it kicks ass, not sure how the smaller versions are but im sure theyre fine but you can get some crazy metal tones to sound like david ellefson, nice tone to match flea, or a flat tone for a laid back presence, does it all

Will I need bass overdrive pedal or will the scrambler suffice?
Scrambler is enough.
Xavier Sánchez the scrambler is decent, but if you do a lot of overdrive you should get a pedal.
What is this bass? please
Music Man StingRay HS
tks
Renato Almeida
English por favor
its a stingray 5 string
What if I don't want the speaker to cut off when I plug in the headphones?
Use the line out; use a XLR to 1/4" or 1/8" adapter/cable if needed.
What bass is he playing in this?
looks like a 5 string ernie ball music man stingray
Can you run a second 15" cab with this amp for a stack?
TheIntelligentView That's what I was thinking lol, its not enough watts tho. I wish the BA210 with the 400 watts came with an 18 inch speaker instead of those weak little 10s. Its ridiculous lol

PeterDad60 - that's not what he's asking. He's asking about connecting an external cabinet and running it with the speaker in the combo.
dino tired....
BLAH
Don't waste ur money .... It's not a great amp.... especially if u play all genres
I’ve read a lot of complaints of fan noise on the 112v2. Does this amp have issues with that as well?
