so far this has been the best review of this line of amps yet! you explained the series and features but most importantly...you played bass! and you played through the 210 at that! well done sir, if I hadn't already ordered one of these monsters, I would have after seeing this review!
I have the BA-210V2 you only get 450Watts if you connect an outboard 8 ohm speaker cab. Now you are running the built in 210's and horn which by themselves is 8 ohms ands 284 watts and the outboard 8 ohm cab connected the rig is now running at 4 ohms and 450watts. They never tell us this.
Still, you have the option if adding an outboard 8 ohm cab and getting the full 450 watts at 4 ohm total load, and that is way cool and loud. I would add an Ampexg15" cab to balance out with the built in 210's and horn. I read that many people like to do that.
I also have the BA-108 20 watt w/8" speaker. The tone is superb! I like it more than mu BA-210V2 tone wise!
I'm thinking of getting 3 more and running them as a stack. What's good about this is Superb tone, each individual BA108 is around 28 lbs (heavy for a small amp, but that adds to the tone). That allows an old man like me to carry them one at a time. I'll end up with 80 watts and four 8" speakers with suberb tone and a lot more power and volume. At $99 each this is also a good deal price wise. I'll use a Galaxy 4-way splitter to run them all with one bass guitar input.
Tonight I used 2 tube preamps and I fell in love with the tone of my BA-108 all over again playing in my living room. With the tube preamps it was louder and I could control the distortion by turning the gain knobs on my preamps. Yes I got my SVT Classic tone and growl back! FINALLY!!
I had an SVT Classic 300 watts, and 4 high quality Ampeg cabs and I ran at 2 ohms. I suffered a terrible neck, back, spine, shoulder injury and could not even hold my bass guitars. I sold at a huge loss the entire rig, and also my '70's Fender Fretless P Bass. It may have been a 1960's P Bass as the tuning keys were that same style. I got it second hand.
What a terrible blow to my life. Now 12 years later I can play my bass again. I'm on strong pain med's and that helps and I am well rested. The injuries remain. I have been using an upright bass which I love. But I love Ampeg Tone as well. Tonight for the first time I used a strap instead of sitting down in a chair and playing. I hope tomorrow is not filled with pain. If I can, I will continue using a strap and get back into playing bass. I'm dreaming of forming a new Jazz Band.
A word of caution for the young players. I read all the warnings about hearing loss but I ignored them and never used protection. My Ampeg 15E speaker cab connected to the SVT Classic (along with a 410 and a 810 and sometimes a 210) the bass sound would go right through my body and my hair would move-that's how much air the 15E pushed. It also made me a little deaf as in I can't really hear people talking to me very well. I can of course still hear my amps. But now I am a Jazz player and I am not out to play as loud as I can like I used to.

Hi! Which external cab is that that you plugged the 210 into?
Is That more to do with the bass you are playing , Spectors are great ,I have one be it the euro 4xl, the amps are quite heavy to lug around and if you are going through a pa , you only need a smaller combo from what I experienced in live situations .
What the biggest ext cabinet this can handle?
Is it possible to get a growly and punchy basstone with this one and a ibanez sr500e? If someone knows?
Does the BA-210 accept FX pedals? I own two.
