At last, someone who understands speed. If you're smiling and enjoying it you're going fast enough. That place looks just like Matas Blancas used to on Fuerteventura before they fucked it up with the kite school. I used to having many days like yours and regularly clockmaker 50 km and have the place entirely to myself. Wonderful times. Keep smiling Ben.
If you want to sell freerace Gear just make a perfect 6.5 and 100 litre board to suit. We aren't going to buy special masts and booms & extensions for it. Just give us the biggest sail that rigs on a 430 rdm and 150 wave boom, and the board to match. The freerace board are all 70+ wide and made for monster sails. We want easier to use small slalom gear.
Watching all these video's with you on the VMAX I decided to buy one as well. Already had a 7.0 Avanti Powerride, so now I bought the 2023 VMAX 6.0 for higher winds. Can't wait to try it!
Ben, I totally agree. Thats why Sail brands, Board brands and fin brands have multiple product choices for a given Wind Strength / sail size, Board volume / width, and fin size / rake. Thats why I still have a huge smile every time i sail on my 2017 aged equipment.
Totally right Ben. The pleasure/fun level is what really matters and it's not directly proportional to the absolute speed. Conditions matter too. For example, going maybe 20knt on a glassy lake when catching the perfect gust is one of the most pleasurable experience windsurfing (the acceleration to get there too). Of course, the introvert is happy like that while an extrovert may need to race someone to feel "the speed" :)
On many summer days, I find myself in the company of small pleasure crafts, each on their own journey. They give a friendly wave as they pass, and it's always a joy. In the chop of one to two feet, a small power boat traveling at or more than twenty-five miles per hour typically gets uncomfortable for the passengers. But that’s the perfect speed for sailing the windsurfer or windfoil, an adventurous experience that allows me to cover as many miles as possible in two hours.
I always loved speed on surfboards. Had some kind of safe feeling on them. On Wingfoils I dont like it - yet. When a bigger gust kicks in I accelerate massively + the high on the foil with around 85 cm I dont feel good.
As they say "the best surfer is the one who had the most fun!". Conditions looks great down there - surprised you are on your own. Seems like Sagres is getting all the wind at the moment, hasn't been a great season further up unfortunately.
It depends what level of the sport you are at and how serious you take it. Windsurfing, surfing, mountain biking, and a whole plethora of other sports are about having fun. If your friends join in and you can have some friendly competition then it can make it more fun. However once you get to the elite level then it becomes something different all together. You have to spend lots of time training and chasing results, then the fun can evaporate and it can become like a high pressure job. I'm pretty sure if you ask an Olympic swimmer if they find their training fun you would get a flat no. So just rig it, sail it and enjoy yourself!
Ben, I've started doing videos (Wills Aston) on wing foiling, fishing, could you please tell me the microphone set you use whe wind surfing ? Thanks Wills
You are of course 100% correct, but it's a Ferrari or a Lambo and I want one. Probably can't drive it properly, but it's a Ferrari Ben...with leather seats, and a big exhaust. Can't afford the insurance either...😂
31 kn, Benny this is very fast, as an amateur, no way I'de be able to hold on, nevermind the PWA and the race gear, this has nothing to do with fun, I agree with you, no cam no fuss only fun.🤙
@@Ben-Proffitt that was very nice but short (2 days). Met very friendly wingfoiler here, could have become friend, sometime you have direct connection with people, that was the case here
Ive done a bit of Speedsailing and getting above 30kts over a reasonable distance isnt as easy as it looks especially if your not on flat water. I recon i Cruise at about 25knts on open sea with relative ease but going much quicker takes a some proper effort.
Actually Ben, you comments of just going at 30knots is proving the point. You have reached 50 at some point in your life. For many of us who have never reached 30 knots, going to say 26 if extremely rewarding.
Great stuff but what about fitness? (which you mention a lack of a lot) and weight, which you did mention in the last vids. To me this seems that skills or time on the water can make up for a lot of things, or ?

Keep smiling Ben.
It's all about the smile! Some get it beyond 40 knots and some after 15 . And soms have it al the time😁 I like the down to earth review!🤙
Love the back taking hand 😂
So casual.
Nice to hear a pro say it like this.
A casual fun approach.

This!!!
Good points. If you take it to the extreme we should all sail one designs like iqFoil, RSX, Kona, or Windsurfer LT.
100% ! Agree
Wind awaits me tomorrow and today I see this....we are loving it!!!
Philosophy on the water, love it. And this is how the Wave Rally World Championships was born.

Awesome.. you won't be disappointed.. it's a GREAT Sail!! Let me know how you get on.. 💪💪
Totally agree with you on it is all relative ! Better a bit slower and way more user friendly and much cheaper!
I love the fin sound 🤤

So true. Enjoy and you feel fast!

Sane talk Ben. Keep smiling everyone!

I am 55 and I got so excited from the moment I start to rig my gear on windy days. Bump and jump my motto!
I feel fast at 20km/h 😂
Exactly

Nothing beats time on the water gliding.
Moin Ben! I couldn‘t resist 😉
It matters to me. I get easily bored when I'm not fast. Low and medium winds can be very boring to me.
Fast is always good, but the best about fast is when the sail goes just a little light because of the speed

When it feels fast, it isn't fast. :D

Hi. Cant find what car rental company you recommended for capetown.. know you had one you use in some videos somewhere...

In June I went to Sagres to show my girl friend the Ben spot... You are making this place famous
haha... how was it? 😁

It is very hard to go fast. It’s all about the try. We are not Jedis.

casual says, let me jibe around here, and keeps on talking while jibing.... nothing to make me jealous...
