My favorite shot in this movie is at the very end when Seth is going down the escalator and his view of his best friend Evan at the top of the escalator is slowly being blocked. Knowing they will be off to college soon and their friendship will probably never be the same...it's actually really touching...
I just have to comment here because that last scene gets me every time. I lost my best friend & soul-mate of the same age at 18 yro in 1990 to suicide after his father died. We, of coure, were mallrats. I never thought I'd ever have anyone as close in my life again. But then I was hired by a band in '93 & realized on the road I'd met & been blessed to get another chance in the drummer who looked like "Seth" if you gave him a mohawk & some lamb-chop sideburns & stood him about 5 yards away!😅 We continued to make all our dreams come true for the next two years, the whole time I knew it & never took a moment for granted! Then he was killed in a car wreck right before we had a scheduled meeting with a record company. It wrecked me for years, but I'm blessed in many other ways now. When I see this & the scene where they're telling each other they love each other it reminds me of me & him & brings a tear to my eye. Then when they say goodbye & go their separate ways in the mall I'm a mess for a minute, but then I feel the Love! It's such a good movie I watch it over & over, & it gets me at the end every time. I'm sure you have your own reasons & fond memories, friend, it just surprised me to see you appreciate it like I do! Whoever reads this, no matter how bad things may seem or be, never forget THEEESE ARE THE DAYS, MOFOS!!! Love & Party accordingly!🙏 🤘🌎❤
@Casey Coomer John Mulaney has a joke about hanging out once you hit your 30s and older. Before you saw your friends all the time, often every single day, surrounded by your friends, you do everything together. Then one day you move on, and they move on too, and you try to make plans. But making plans is harder as you get older, you ask them, can you do lunch next Wednesday, no no, next Wednesday is no good for them. What about dinner the Monday after that? No, that doesn't work either? Ok, well, let's agree to not speak for 11 years.
Yeah I feel kinda silly saying this but it actually gives me a little tear in my eye now that I'm in my 40s. When this movie came out I was 26 and watched it with my friends and it was funny as fuck. Years later, still funny, but plenty poignant too.
I simply cannot believe this movie is almost 16 years old. I saw this in theaters in high school and I’ve never been to a movie since where the entire room was filled with near constant, uproarious laughter. My stomach hurt from laughing so hard and I remember leaving feeling that same kind of sadness that Seth expresses in the final scene. It’s been years since I’ve seen or spoken to any of those dear friends I had. Life has changed so much. I will always treasure those days.
I think the most laugh Ive had and seen other people laughing the most in a theater was when I saw "There's Something about Mary" in the theaters.... Man that was 98!!! 25 years ago!
I remember watching the first 20 minutes and realizing how funny this was that I had to experience people seeing what I caught in the theatre. Which now makes sense that reactions are so popular.
I saw this movie at a prescreen where Bill Hader, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Michael Cera, and Jonah Hill came and answered audience questions afterwards. As they were leaving Christopher passed a few feet from me and I looked at him and said "you're gonna get so much ass now" he turned and replied "god I hope so".
My high school film lol, glad I grew up to this, can't find another movie like this anymore, it's funny how people cared about being popular or partying but after graduation and in a few years no one doesn't care lol
The crazy journey that the main characters take in this film is meant to demonstrate one thing: the lengths a teenage guy will go to get laid. It’s a hard thing for the opposite sex to truly understand, but this movie helps lol.
They can never understand. They get offered sex 20 times a day everyday of their life since they are 12. The thought that effort is needed in order to get sex never occurs to them.
Growing up in HS during the 80s, I thought we had the best movies - and we do still have some legends. But this one stepped things up quite a few levels. Insanely fun and hits all marks.
I never really thought of it until now but you're right, when I was a teenage boy it was pretty exhausting. But I always figured it was worse for Girls.
god the scene where mclovin gets caught staring at that girls butt and just says the time and leaves is so freaking funny it leaves me in tears every time
If you liked this, I think you will also love Forgetting Sarah Marshall!! Some of the same cast (Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, etc.) from around the same time period and a similar combo of hilarious but with a heart
This was the first Rated R movie I saw with my friends in the movie theater after turning 17 it was a great experience the whole theater was laughing non stop
Fun fact shortly after this movie was released in theaters can't remember if it was 1 or 2 Ohio police officers got caught on a parking lot security camera doing doughnuts in the parking lot with the cop car and hit a light pole and tried to say someone stole the cop car 😅
Great reaction and commentary! This was Emma Stone's first movie role. Seth Rogen and Even Goldberg produced and wrote this movie. They based the characters Seth and Even on themselves. They started the script together when they were 13.
its not a little glimpse. This is forsures fictional to a point and obviously exaggerate some points. Do you really think 2 police officers are really drunk driving around at night shooting at stop signs.
I haven’t watched this movie in so long, Bill Hader yelling “oh shit it’s the cops” while they are having the shoot off will forever be one of my favorite lines in a movie
I was 15 when this movie came out and I probably saw it about my senior year in HS. Needless to say it was very relatable. One of my top 3 favorite comedies.
This is my favorite comedy and one of my favorite coming of age movies. I was in my mid 20’s when it came out but it was written (co written) by Seth Rogen when he was a teenager and loosely based on his Sr year in HS. Being he and I are the same age (1 year apart) I really related to the characters.
The same thing on This Is The End movie: Jay didn't tell Seth about he was stay Four Seasons hotel with their friend Danny in Los Angeles for last two months ago. At Superbad: Evan didn't tell Seth about he's going to college with their friend Fogel at next year.
One of my favorite comedies of all time! A Bull Hader tan have u seen “Napoleon Dynamite”? One of my other favorites. You’d enjoy “Forgetting Sarah Marshal” , similar comedy, “40 year old virgin”, “dinner date” , of course the “anchor man” movies. All great. 🙂 (McLovin) actor is also in “Kickass” but thsi is by far his best role)
Jonah Hill getting backed into by the car is still one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. The epitome of what a highschool movie should be! But here in the states you have to be 21 to buy alcohol and tobacco, and it’s usually not worth taking the risk of asking someone. But this is also coming from someone that had friends who would just run into the supermarkets and run back out with a 30 case of beer in each hand lol
I love the DVD commentary for this one (hey remember those?) Someone's young niece (I can't remember who') was in the studio along with Cera, Hader, Hill, and Rogan and they gave Jonah so much crap for the fact he wouldn't be allowed to swear for the commentary thus gutting like 90% of his vocabulary.
“Mohammad is the most common name in the world read a fucking book” lmfao. The end scene at the mall always gets me. We’ve all been there, the time you find a girl you want to spend time with, you’re leaving your friends for a new place, it kinda sucks because you’re not the same when you get back if you don’t talk. At the same time, it’s new experiences and adventure so it’s needed
If you haven't done Paul yet you need to, it has Bill Hader and that other dude that you called Boyle as FBI agents along with Justin Bateman and also has Simon Pegg and Nick frost from the cornetto trilogy, and Kristen Wiig and Jane Lynch and Sigourney Weaver and Seth Rogen David Keschner It's a really good movie. and Funny.
8:58 I was working at a mall once in the toy's section and I accidentally punched the boob of my security coworker standing next to me due to someone passing by and we both started laughing I apologized so much lmao
A woman will NEVER understand what high school aged boys have to go through, in middle school, high school and to a slightly lesser degree after high school after we hit puberty. If only you all knew and could live it, then the world would be a much better place as men wouldn't get the bad rap we do.
You can watch this movie 100x and notice something new in the background or catch a detail you never noticed before that makes it my favorite movie by a landslide lol
The movie "Blockers" is up there along with Superbad when it comes to high school comedy. It's so underrated. Well, it doesn't beat Superbad at all, but it is good!

It would have been cool if they had done a movie from those two girls' perspective, but this was a movie based on the childhood of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. So great video thank you. Your reactions are even better because your not from the u.s neither am I but I live close enough to know alot. Like the drinking age in the u.s is 21 where I live in ontario its 19, but I know it's 18 in other provinces.
If you love Bill Hader and haven't seen "Barry" yet, I truly hope to see you react to it. He's amazing in it and the writing and characters are fantastic.
Unfortunately, the legal drinking age in the USA is 21. It used to be 18. It changed the year that I turned 18. That's my luck. 😂 Also, Superbad was closely based on Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's senior year in the late '90s, and at one time during the film's 12-year development, Rogen even considered playing Jonah Hill's role.😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed this movie! I remember loosing it the first time I saw this! Haha! If you should add Anchorman (2006 & the sequel from 2013), The Other Guys (2010), Tropic Thunder (2008), There's Something About Mary (1998), The Hangover trilogy, and Pink Panther (2006 & the sequel from 2009) to your list if you enjoy comedy movies. There are more comedic movies I could think of, but here are some that came up in my mind for now. Great reaction, Evie! :)
That part when Seth was telling Evan they could be a drunken girl's one night stand mistake, your face looked like you may have recalled a few of your own...or maybe I'm reading into it. Your expression was hilarious though 🤣. This was my first time tuning in to your channel, enjoyed your reaction, this movie is wild funny.
The first time i watched this i couldn't stop laughing, it was hilarious. Now i can say i def stands the test of time. Such an awesome story of friendship n transition from kids to young adults, learning that "Bros before Hoes" is a real thing n much more. McLovin'... classic

The legal drinking age in the USA is 21. I guess because they're afraid responsible 18 year-olds (the kind who won't just find a way to get alcohol anyhow) might get drunk & vote, or something.
I once almost bought some beers for some teens and im glad i didn’t cause the moment my friend told me not to the cops came around the corner but i did get GTA 4 for a kid.
Watching your terrific reaction this morning makes me a) wish that you would do more movie reactions and b) reminds me that, while you may look super innocent, these raunchy comedies were definitely made with you in mind. I can’t wait for American Pie 2, whenever that day finally comes. 🥧 #thankyousister
"Being a teenage boy looks exhausting" yea that's about right haha.

Yeah this movie is honestly on the level of ghostbusters or blazing saddles/young frankenstein. And it’s so endlessly quotable.

This is honestly a great depiction of what it was like being a high school boy. Hormones, erections, and alcohol.
And now high school is boring unless you’re in those upperclass friend groups

The fact that you recognize Dave Franco, Is also the last time dave was Relevant😂😂😂😂😂

I can’t wait for American Pie 2, whenever that day finally comes. 🥧 #thankyousister
