Apologies! As I released this video, the camera was out of focus when I watched it on RUclips and only realised after editing. Please forgive me, and I promise it won't be an issue in the future. I was being fiscal x
the budget stunk of a desperate attempt to stand with one one foot in the water and the other on land. inconsistent half measures that don't resolve the problems we face as they had to be curbed to allow for some corporate interest to flourish. i can't see how any of this would create a better situation for the people, its the same shit different story once again and it's deeply frustrating
I thought the budget overall was fine given the way they were framing it for months before hand. Good to see some investment at last, hopefully it'll make a difference! Probably not enough though. But the only major thing that annoyed me was that fuel duty was frozen again at a cost of an estimated £3 billion whilst bus and train fares go up yet again, that doesn't make sense given the climate and is deeply unfair. The £2 bus cap cost £350 million/ year to implement by comparison. I feel like a mug for wanting to use public transport! Train fares would be around 40% to 45% cheaper today if they benefitted from 14 years of freezes! For all his flaws, Sadiq Khan froze fares in London for 5 years out of the 8 he's been mayor and now London's fares are widely seen as amongst the cheapest, which is the opposite of what it used to be. Labour nationally should be doing this instead. The other thing is Labour's plan for benefits still aren't very clear and stuff like the WCA changes potentially isn't great whilst spying on claimants bank accounts for all that imaginary fraud that doesn't really exist is bonkers! Also my politics and demands are pretty much the same as you, right now we need at least what Clement Attlee did after the war, but Labour aren't that party anymore unfortunately.
I think you bang on in what you are saying. The investment angle does concern me a bit, because we know that the money is often going towards outsourcing private sector companies who do nothing for public services. Still, better than a slap in the face. I think Khan's approach to TFL has been positive and Labour should be adopting that approach (though I would argue ultimately the only way you can control public transport fares and stop financing the cap is to put it in public ownership anyway). No, the benefits plan is murky and I don't trust them on it. We know they want to reform, but no solid discussions on how and that is a feature of this Labour government. Part unprepared to govern and whoever is working in communications needs their head wobbled. But I do think they are hiding that purposefully for the spring budget so that they can enact some vicious cuts to an already broken system. Well, I think one day Labour will change again. It's why I'm still around and challenging them publicly. The careerists under the current regime don't have much of a plan and when it fails to improve living standards, it will hurt them badly. It opens up a door to change the Labour Party and make it one that goes back to it's roots. That is the fight of Labour and it won't be sudden, but I'm sure it will happen.
I think this makes me even more nervous when we see how willing this labour government is to say one thing and do another. Even if they promise something good, we can't trust them to follow through with it at all and it all just adds to the frustrations i think most people have with our current situation. I know farage isn't perfect, and i can't trust him either, but at the moment, a new political party becoming popular like reform is a good thing for ordinary voters, we need to have a more competing parties in the uk to drive competition, i think this could be an interesting way forward.
I'd rather have UBI and cooperatives than nationalising everything. Cooperatives democratise the economy by putting the power in the hands of workers and communities. UBI insulates people from poverty and provides security against capitalism's coersive elements. Nationalising puts all the control in the hands of the hierarchical state, which is going to act in its own interests that may not necessarily align with the people's interests. The state may also sell public services to the private sector, which is much less likely to happen with cooperatives.
I personally disagree. Both options would not eliminate the greed and exploitation of capitalism; they only seek to accept it. UBI has been supported by right-wing economists, because as you have put it, gives less reliance on the state’s involvement of industry. The state must be democratised when moving towards a programme of public ownership, but without it, it wouldn’t stop co-operatives exploiting other workers or companies as the business grows. I haven't seen a dominance of co-operatives, because you would ultimately need capital in order to create one in the first place. The goal of co-ops is still to make a profit, and some co-ops have operated with workers still being exploited in the company, as only the founders have been part of that co-op (though you could then argue it isn't a co-op). journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/09730052231224575 I've never really bought into either of these methods. If people prove it works, I would be happy to discuss it further.
It honestly pisses me off that we get MORE taxes every single tax they've increased you guessed it hurts us at the bottom of the barrel of the working class & even the middle class, making the poor poorer & the rich richer this is going to drive us into a HARD recession because people will stop spending, all these business's that have had minimum wage & NC contributions increased will just fire one person & keep the other 10 & any extra costs will be passed down to the purchaser making it more expensive making it worse for them. This isn't all when the Cons were in they capped the income tax bands till 2029 meaning you'll be pushed into higher bands aka paying MORE tax. overall this entire budget is stupid the goverment SHOULD be cutting the useless fat off the govermental services making them cost less meaning less taxes to run them why TF am i paying more for less. the entire pension ponzi scheme should also be completely reworked before it fails to be based on economic growth aka when you pay into your pension that money is used to upgrade country services & infrastructure that then you profit off of when you retire, not "workers now pay off the pensioners because reasons" because ALL ponzi schemes are doomed to fail in the end & we're just seeing the cracks of it. Personally this is just showing HOW incompetent these politicians are with OUR money costs should be dropping not increasing XD.
So the rises in minimum wage, will this mean working families will no longer need to visit food banks remains to be seen.Nothing for the unemployed or disabled,Pensioners whose pitiful private pensions take them a couple of quid over the pension credit qualifying amount can continue to worry about putting the heating on this winter. The UK financial market has seen business flooding to US markets since our incomprehensible decision for Brexit, given the incredible deal we had managed to broker with the EU,so good luck trying to convince them to return..Good critique btw,I watched your video yesterday where you talked about subscribers demanding what content they want to see.But excuse me if I'm mistaken, you did ask a couple of videos back if there were any topics we would like covered ,how about the current US policy in the middle east, their efforts to bring the saudis and Israel together and how things have escalated since China the worlds current biggest consumer of oil,was brokering talks between the Saudis and Iran very successfully last year..worth looking into imo
Completely agree with you on your points. Brexit has been an utter disaster the more I look at it. I may do a video on that at some point. I'm happy to do videos on whatever people would like me to explore. I'm not sure what I said now off the top of my head, but I'm always happy to have suggestions! I get a bit worn out by the comment section sometimes over people just attacking me or asking for videos that have nothing to do with my channel (which sometimes pops up). I've had some great suggestions from regulars, and the video you have suggested is included in that greatness. I will start researching about it, though I have read some bits on China's deals relating to oil. I would have to tap into discussions about China's economy in general, which riles up mass debates on the left which aren't inherently worth it sometimes. But I like the idea so let me work on it.
@@DrJoeLovelacecool,I had a great discussion with an asian taxi driver who told me he felt paranoia about China was unjustified as, the only interest they have in the outside world is that of customers..I forgot to give kudos for your call for nationalisation,it never hurt the French economy and their investment in infrastructure just brings shade on our systems

Labour fanboys cannot accept that the increase in the bus fare cap is a bad idea
