    I’m at work and listening to this right now. I’ve always been interested in learning about Buddhism, and I’ve learned bits and pieces over the past couple of years, always happy to get these short videos to relisten to. I ended up sitting and staring at my desk as I listened to this. Thanks S55!

    Its nothing i would do but my inner voice changed to being very overly aggressive and meditating and reading up on Buddhism has helped me.
    I dont want to be enlightened or lose my attachments i love my pride and my drive in the work and gym and its a positive feedback loop for me and my loved ones.

      @@pitparra1924 perhaps you could look at Desiring something as a more passive style of yearning, and based in one’s overall destiny or purpose. I think it could be compared to a child knowing that they would like to become a fire fighter, and aligning their actions of the future in ways that’ll help them ultimately become what was desired. Craving I believe could be considered a more aggressive yearning, akin to addiction or lust. We may be willing to break rules and boundaries to quell these cravings, but they are only temporary things to yearn for, with our need for them being only being a result of feeling and suffering. Passion vs Play perhaps?

    People steeped in the western Tradition struggling with these concepts should acquaint themselves with Sartre’s idea of bad faith. I would argue that bad faith and Buddhist desires are very similar.

    im surprised you didn't mention self-less consciousness here. it is the path. and what mindfulness is cultivated for. so that an insight into ego-less consciousness can be experienced. once that is experienced, a lot of the philosophy (peace, love, kindness, mental health) falls into place. do you not like doing longer videos? (disclosure: i am not an expert and i love your videos)

    Is mindfulness not just a polite way of telling yourself to stop being whiny?

    • @Luunchb0xxx
      @Luunchb0xxx 6 часов назад +1

      It's more a change of perspective than it is coaching emotions in the moment.
      Over time you learn to react differently to things that would have gotten a rise out of you before you started your mindfulness journey. There are known benefits to changing phrasing to be more positive, especially with internal monologue and thoughts. I have suffered from anxiety and depression for a lot of my life, and this particular aspect of mindfulness has helped me immensely. It's hard to feel good about anything when you are being terrible to yourself. Being kind to myself internally has really helped me feel better.

    Eh, you can't expect a philosophy transplanted from its' culture and surroundings to not get a little mangled along the way. Add in political and economic systems and it's a wonder the west can grok it at all.
    I guess it is being more sympathetic of the secularization. It's not ideal, but a moment of pause to maybe see a different path is available.
