I'm very impressed by the scholarship and passion which went into the creation of this exhibit, "Broken Promises" and the larger work as part of "Landscapes of Injustice" project where the injustices were exposed in a very scholarly, but also understanding way. In my own case, I was able to learn in a very tangible way how my own relatives were affected by the forced removal and the forced sale of their belongings and land. It became very personal to see the listing of household goods and property and their description by my own grandfather and a great uncle, who was a World War I Canadian army veteran. This was not an abstract listing, but very personal, very real things that had been "stolen" from our families. David Iwaasa
