Without a doubt one of the most underrated country artists. I remember hearing her way back in 05. Been listening since. Honest, genuine, classic country style right here.
I never had any influences for this kind of music (I live in NYC and my parents never listened to country) but I love this kind of music. Never even process it as “country”, to me it’s just good music!

I wish this lady would concentrate on songs like this. This is true country and this is what we like. We don't care for a bunch of fancy chords but we want real raw down to earth country. Forget the fancy stuff. Down to earth country is what we want.
there are soooo many artists that do country style. I personally love this but I think Ashley does the right thing in expanding into different styles of music while keeping the country roots.

Pot is safer than peanuts should be a fucking t-shirt! And pot's new slogan. Personally I hate the high myself, but I am all for others using it and legalizations. We'r all adults and if you can drink...that kills what...90,000 USA yearly? Why not weed, which I have to guess kills less than a 1/10 of those numbers?

Oh yeah, I'm not criticising you at all, I definitely got your point. I just think the song presents a very strong female standpoint and it's refreshing to hear. Still a long way to go though I reckon, most female country these days seems to fit in to three song types: "I love that guy, but he doesn't know", "Oh no, he cheated on me" and the "I'm really hot, I can have any guy" category. All of which the woman's happiness is completely centred around the man.

That much we can agree on. The "why" we are listening is secondary to the fact that If she was not such a gifted songwriter, we would never have had this conversation at all. I started listening to her because of her involvement with the Pistol Annies, but once I heard her, I could not stop hearing her. Then I got to learn she has actually been around for a while. It surprised me more that a little to fund out how much she has been involved with. Challenge to find all of it. But, worth it.
