  • Back in the garage for some more ginger-idiot-vs-unforgiving-metal action!!
Building a chopper has never looked so painful and agonisingly slow!! (Sun.bleachd cooperation is not liable for any damage done to screens from throwing the nearest available object out of frustration)
    Enjoy!!

Weld a bead on the outside edge of the bend it will get very hot that way then grind it off when done.

I think you have a good plan with the jig and using lots of heat for the short sharp bends and yes longer bar for more leverage. 👍

You need more heat. Get it red hot and it will bend easy. Can't wait to see u riding the bike. Whats your favorite tattoo & the one you regret the most? 👍😄

I like the smoother transition to sissy bar on the second one😎 but it does need to fit. You got this!

Just so you know ...thats a mid grade bench vice...they're known to break when using them to bend hard solid rod like what your using ..
    Good luck..
    Keep banging away...
Maybe cut and weld small pieces..???

You are heading in the right direction with the round bar much better then the tubing you were using before. Tip, wax crayon, or chalk, to mark the bar where to apply the heat to the bar before putting heat into the bar. Try not to bend to much in one go, do it in small steps, heat, bend, rinse repeat. It will take you longer to do but the results will be much better. It also looks, although I could be wrong on this point here, you are not still putting enough heat into the bar, and the heat is dissipating far quicker then you want it to, you need to get the bar a cherry red to make it pliable to move better. I know it can be frustrating but you are still learning and you have achieved so much more then most, so keep it up

The torch I have physically can't get the bar that hot and I can't afford an oxyletene torch 😭 so struggling and fighting the metal is the way I gotta go

put it the vice and heat up just the place where you want the tight bend, it is going to have to be very hot.

My personal idea, if you retry that : I think, if you can block hard at the finest part of you wood template, and then using ratchet strap (hope it's the right word :p) on opposite, it will make much more force that human can do.

You need MAP gas at least,,propane is a waste of time and money. You'll get there. Slip a bigger pipe over the steel rod for a bender.

What your doing is good. Get a mapp gas torch ( like a plumber would use ) and heat the metal till it goes red and the metal will bend a lot easier. And you will get the tight bends you want.. 🤘🤘 you know what send me a private ( I don't want to get loads of unsolicited messages ) message and I can talk you through it ..

I see you seem to be running into a wall here.......
Your frame looks similar to my 96 HD softail which I've now modified, I have the chrome rear fender struts (no longer required) if they' would be any use to you on your project I'd be happy to stick them in the post - free 🤗 -
Check out a pic see if you think they might fit.. Hd 1996 fatboy.
Keep on sticking at it, sometimes it'll drive you nuts but when you finally get to ride it....... Its worth it.

You need way more heat. Try and build a basic forge, plenty of tutorials on here. You can use a hair dryer as a blower and you can build it on the ground

Your first mistake was owning a motorcycle that would need a sissy bar, get a dual sport and leave old corny bike behind
