This was Priest's response to the metal fans who were saying they weren't "hard" enough and other bands had passed them by. Just goes to show, when folk count u out, it dont mean ur out.

NO, alot of people think that Maybe younger fans, BUT Back in 1988 I bought Ram it Down & that Album
was the comeback album several songs on there that are just HEAVY. of course i bought it on Tape back then.

I would have gone with the official video for this one. Halford can blow out a mic easily, so you're only getting about half the sound in this performance. It's not just the piercing high notes, he actually has a pretty deep under-tone on all but the highest notes.

Judas Priest's 1990 album 'Painkiller' was the fastest, angriest record of their career... After the thrash metal scene had exploded in popularity in 1988, critics felt that Priest was "falling behind" despite another gold-selling record 'Ram it down' in '88.
Priest also went through a terrible ordeal as they were sued in court in Nevada by the parents of 2 of their fans who died after a s.ui.cide pact (One survived, only to OD later) ... Priest were accused of inspiring the pact w/ a "subliminal" message on the song 'Better by you, better than me' in 1978 (which was a cover of Spooky Tooth)
Glenn Tipton (guitar) recalled w/ disgust how lawyers accused the band of inspiring deaths of their fans, and their clients received "so many letters" from other parents who had lost children because of Judas Priest... But when Priest asked them to produce those alleged letters, they were told, "Oh, that was 2 years ago... we don't have them anymore..." ... Tipton called them "bare-faced liars"...
Rob Halford (vocals) was just as enraged... he said the trial had "scarred him deeply"...
After an exhaustive trial in 1990, Priest were exonerated in court... the alleged 'subliminal message' was revealed to be coincidental (It was apparently "do it"... but a combination of a guitar note w/ Halford's breath intake) ... The band also pointed out that the families of the 2 boys had histories of alcohol and drug abuse, dysfunction... which made them high s.ui.cide risks.
'Painkiller' was released in 1990 after the trial and Judas Priest was back on tour in 1991... the record was slow to sell, but eventually went gold and became a favorite in the Priest catalog.
In 1992, vocalist Rob Halford was inspired by Pantera to record a solo project Fight... That year, he shocked Priest fans worldwide by announcing that he was leaving Judas Priest for a solo career... Fight released the album 'War of Words' in 1993 and Judas Priest went of hiatus for years.
Judas Priest announced a new singer Tim 'Ripper' Owens in 1997 w/ a new album 'Jugulator'... while Rob Halford was busy w/ his next band 2wo, an industrial rock outfit that released 1 album 'Voyeurs' in 1998.
Sadly, neither Judas Priest nor Rob Halford scored commercial successes while apart... Judas Priest released 'Demolition' in 2001 w/ Owens on vocals... while Halford returned to heavy metal w/ the albums 'Resurrection' in 2000 and 'Crucible' in 2002.
In 2004, Judas Priest announced the long-awaited reunion w/ Rob Halford on vocals w/ a major tour and their 2005 album 'Angel of Retribution' ... marking a return to form and chart success.
After leaving Judas Priest in 2010, guitarist K.K. Downing announced in 2019 that he had formed the band K.K.'s Priest w/ vocalist Ripper Owens and has released 2 studio albums and r currently touring.

Great video ladies! Always enjoy the reactions, glad to see you become a " metalhead " Donna. :) Welcome to the club! lol This album was a response to the Metallica's and Megadeth's of the business; it was their heaviest album at the time by far. Their 70's stuff was awesome, Rocka Rolla is their first album from 1974, it was good, but they got progressively heavier as they went, with the exception of Turbo in '86. It was " poppier " for Judas Priest but good. Ram It Down and Painkiller were their heavy comeback albums after, Turbo. Especially, Painkiller, really heavy for them at the time. Keep on rockin' ladies!

Something happened in the end of the 1980s, Judas changed their sound alot from the Turbo album 86, to the harder Ram it Down 88 to Painkiller a few later.
They went from a hardrock band, to synthrockers to heavy metal to speed metal in just 4-5 years.
The song Ram it Down and Hard as iron are my all time favourite songs with Judas Priest. ❤

the lead singer Rob Halford formed 3 more bands after 1991 when he left Judas Priest only to return in 2004. try his band Halford - Live Insurrection album where he compiled live shows with hits from Judas Priest, his 90's band Fight and his 2000's band Halford. try Life in Black from Live Insurrection, Resurrection from the same album name, and you will love the song ''SHE'' where he describes his mother try listening with lyrics from the album Halford - Crucible I think is a bonus track.

The singer Rob Halford started the heavy metal style of wearing leather with metal studs. You see "manly" men who aren't in a heavy metal band wearing it, especially bikers (motorcycles). I find this wonderfully ironic, because many years later, when it became acceptable, Halford came out as gay. He bought that stuff at a gay bondage shop!

Hey girls, you're missing out on the studio version of it, which is way better than this one, I don't know why everybody thinks live versions are better, some of the details are missing in live versions and sometimes solos are played differently, this one right here, is going way too fast compared to studio version, there are just a few bands who sound same or better than studio version, I won't lie, but this is not an example of it, now just go ahead and listen to it on your own, or if you want to make a reaction to compare to studio version of the song, that'd be cool, I just don't want you to miss out on it.

you know what is funny? The singer kept his homosexuality from the public until let's say mid-late career. Everryone that liked the band knew he was gay from early on, and it wasn't from media or anything, there's mannerisms and ways people talk. You know what the fans did ? nothing. Why do we have to keep bringing this, that or somewhat to justify something? People should judge artists for what they bring and what they represent not by their sexual choice. But if you come out singing about being unjustified for something you can't back up, hell yeah your'e gonna get criticized. Like today, why is Bieber saying Eminem doesn't understand today's rap???? :DDD
