I'm shocked you've never heard this before. Priest is such an amazing band, and they cover a ton of genres (not just super heavy thrash metal).
Same
Same.
It’s not only shocking, it’s plain unbelievable I’d say.
Where have tis guy been the last 40 years? Was he born yeasterday, long time birth overdue
hahaha I'm a Metalhead and this doesn't sound like Turbo Lover
That whole album is a flawless masterpiece of music.
Masterpiece??? Painkiller only "Masterpiece" song on the album
@@sammysheeesh4730 We're still talking about the album that has both Leather Rebel and Hell Patrol on it?
@@donradkos6655 add nightcrawler, metal meltdown and between the hammer and the anvil to that list
In any “perfect” metal compilation, Painkiller 100% has a top 10 spot. No questions asked.
You obviously haven't a clue about good metal@@sammysheeesh4730
In his book K.K. Downing denies it, but it's clear that 'Painkiller' was a statement of intent from the band in the face of the emergence of thrash bands becoming very popular.
Priest were like: "You kids think that's metal? Well, get a load of THIS..." And they took everyone back to school with this record.
'Touch of Evil' is a stunning dark ballad from this album.
Touch of Evil was the radio single and it should of been a bigger hit. It's a great song.
This album is an absolute milestone in heavy metal, perfect from the begining to the end.
This is probably the best heavy metal song of all time, it has everything a song could have. Amazing intro drum solo, amazing riffs, amazing solo, amazing lyrics... just perfection.
I have heard this song in 1990. The year the album was released. That was shocking in a good way. This felt like a nuclear bomb explosion at that moment. 32 years passed since that moment and the power and energy is still relevant.
The fact that this entire album melts your face off 30 years after its release just shows how solid it is
The drummer is Scott Travis, this is his first work with Judas Priest. Before this he was the drummer for Racer X, with Paul Gilbert. After this record he joined Rob Halford in Fight, when Rob rejoined Judas Priest Scott rejoined as well, and is still their drummer.
They came back with this album to teach the kids who are the true metal gods. I’ve seen them live several times. Last time was just before the pandemic. They still kill it. In my opinion this is their greatest song. Makes me want to look aid man through walls.
The entire Painkiller album is a Masterpiece but thats just my opinion :)
I agree the whole painkiller album is fantastic
I concur.
One of my favorite metal albums and I’m a well aged metalhead who played in metal bands for a few decade too. Lol
Totally agree... my first ever album.. bought as 11yo... in about 93... followed shortly by iron fist from motorhead..
And you are correct 🤘
You have to listen to this entire album. It is BRUTAL.
No it's not

Yeah, i love @Tessmage_Tessera
Dude I have been waiting a year and a half for you to do this one! Now you know why I kept hammering you for it! LoL The drummer is Scott Travis, an American, who has been in the band ever since this album. He is by far the best drummer JP has ever had. And no, this song is not their only good song after Ram It Down. The whole album is great and their material they have put out since has been very good. Even some of the material with Ripper Owens on vocals was better than Turbo and Ram It Down. I did request you do a few more JP songs recently so I'm looking forward to those at some point. Glad my request turned into an almost hour long reaction video! 🤘🏼
Glenn's solos in All Guns Blazing are outrageous, and footage of him playing them on the Painkiller tour are something to behold, he's literally just chilling, chewing gum.
Bought this album day it came out. Every song is like this. Most people only see this one video and move on to the next with tons of views, not turning into fans. Dig into the whole album and you will be VERY pleased.
Judas Priest - Riding on the Wind (Live Vengeance '82) my favorite old school metal rock song🤟
I remember in high-school when this came out, riding with friends in a suburu with a big sound system jamming this song. We literally wore out the tape. All the guys were into rap, but they loved this song and album
Yes. This album is great being played outdoors on a big sound system. This is waht we (as kids) have done in my last school year and it was an Experiance!
i remember my friends making fun out of me for buying Judas Priest. it was the least cool thing you could get back in 90
Painkiller album in whole was a game changer, I figured they knew they couldn't stay the same.Luckily Scott Travis's drumming gave them a great sound for this objective.
People have said THIS ALBUM ....SAVED HEAVY METAL....One of my favorites all-time. This Song is METAL! PERIOD!
Who said? Song Painkiller was a masterpiece for JP but the rest of the songs on the ablum sucked
Song def saved Judas Priest!
Hey there David, I just came across your channel today via a few other reaction videos pertaining to Priest's Invincible Shield.
This reaction to Painkiller got me squarely in the feels because I get what you mean about the stark comparison between this and the aesthetics of Turbo and Ram It Down.
As a Priest fan, I can admit to their storied history and chequered output, and perhaps that even reinforces my appreciation in an eccentric kind of way.
The verisimilitude of their sound allows for these nourishing points of comparative discussion to even exist. Akin to comparing the silly funk of Queen's Hot Space to the dark majesty of Innuendo, Turbo feels rubbery and facetious when compared to something with the malevolent energy of Painkiller.
In terms of Rob's vocals on Turbo, they are pedestrian by his standards. Ram It Down not so much, though the lyrics of both outings generally fall far short of prior efforts.
It's dismaying because I think the ability to sing with more control, elasticity, and consistency than perhaps ever before was finally being afforded to him due to his newfound sobriety. The live singing in the Fuel For Life tour exemplifies this, and you can almost feel how uninterrupted his voice is as he meanders around the scale. Negotiating his passagio with unprecedented dexterity. He even oversung sometimes! 😵💫
The abberations that peppered his still superlative singing were near enough gone. Like so many distorted gargles, dry and crispy croaks, and splintering Janis Joplin - like harmonics when his high mix singing became laboured (Devil's Child '82 Vengeance springs to mind), and how it very slightly started to sound like he was just happy to get there.
He was nearly always able to incorporate these wanton elements in service to the song, and to accent what his voice was at its crux. Yet in the fledgling sober years of Turbo, so much of that was shed like detritus, and what emerged was a sinewy, virile, and clarion instrument.
A cleaner instrument, with less stymied power for songs that Rob could sing in his sleep? I can see why you were frustrated with their direction in the mid to late 80s in this regard.
Ironically, I appreciate the synthesised aspects of Blood Red Skies on Ram, if mainly for helping the emotivity of the lyrical content really hit home. I once read a comment that Blood Red Skies was like a Frank Frazetta painting brought into sonic form, and I think that's true. Rob's voice is truly in technicolour on that recording.
....Johnny B. Goode ..... on the same album....!? 😳😳😳 Words fail me.
Painkiller as an album is just beautiful. The songs are all each their own entity, and yet the whole kaboodle smacks with such cohesion.
Regarding the title track in particular, it has been both a highlight and a vocal spanner in the works for Rob. He outdid himself by a huge order of magnitude in the studio, but he has very rarely sung Painkiller live that is proximal to the recording.
Though I totally agree with you. When you see a band live (I'm seeing Priest for the first time in London this month!), you should expect artistic decisions, practical alterations, and human variations... even from Metal Gods! I can't wait.
This is My favorite channel doing reactions i love you duuude❤❤❤❤❤ You Are The Best
@THEDavidHeretic
THANK YOU!
It's been AGES since I've listened to them. Not because of the previous albums. Just new music comes in and the older stuff kinda gets forgotten for awhile.
But...Because of your reaction. I had to go check out the album again.
The entire Album is AMAZING.
It's just that Painkiller is the most loved song.
They 100% turned it around.
I get to rediscover my love of Judist Priest.
I loved them as a kid. Older metal head cousins.
Glad I was able to have a small part in helping you re-experience them.
At my husbands memorial we played Painkiller. Then four months later at my daughters wedding for my David. We had so much fun.
My personal top 3 songs from this album let alone the rest are:
1. Night Crawler
2. Metal Meltdown
3. Painkiller
This is just the context of being the opening track of the post ram it down era.
And of all the classic metal bands (metallica, maiden, sabbath), firepower is my favourite 2010 or later album from any of em but I'm not really sure if it holds up now
Night Crawler is so underrated. i love that song

Painkiller was great, rest of the songs suck. If David reviewed the album, he would agree for the most part based on his reviews of JPs other songs before Painkiller
@@mikehunt8134 lol its just your opinion... I'd say some other songs are even better than Painkiller (Hell Patrol, A Touch of Evil)
heavy on metal meltdown!
JP Painkiller is an epic album. Painkiller is definitely not the only hard hitting metal masterpiece on the album. Painkiller (the album) is one of my favorites from JP, with Painkiller (song), being one of my favorite JP Songs.
Hey David, I just want to say I love your reactions.
I am a couple of years less older than you, I have grown up listening to heavy metal, but somehow I too missed the best songs of Judas Priest. So, when you admit it with a straight face without faking any bee es I am there with you.
Keep it up.
FYI Scott Travis is the drummer (Racer X), and he seemed to breathe new life into JP. IMO, this song is the pinnacle of Heavy Metal, this song is Heavy Metal, this is how Metal should always be, JP were "redemmed"!! I was like you, had given up on Judas Priest after Turbo and Ram it Down, and they came back with Painkiller, a brilliant Heavy Metal album, and then Rob left, and I again gave up on them with Tim Owens on vocals. Great review as always, thank you, and I hope you will give the Painkiller album a listen, it's worth it.
I have been a Sabbath fan since 71 and Priest fan since 78, Saxon since
80
I was 11 in 71. When I got Sabbath, Master of reality in 71 I got hooked. With my pocket money I got Black Sabbath, and Paranoid.
Never missed a beat after this .There are no albums by Sabbath that I did like up to 13.
They had a couple of albums being two. Never say die, forbidden., that were not up to their standards.
Yet they were still enjoyable.
Priest, I got Killing Machine as my intro to them. I love the album. Then I went into overdrive catching up with their back catalogue. I loved Sad wings of destiny, Sin after Sin
and of course Stained class. After 78 I was the proud owner of all Sabbath and Priest albums. Again never missing a beat.
At age 18 I had the disposable income to not only keep up with their forthcoming albums but actually amassed a 4,000+album collection. That included heavy metal, progressive rock. Grunge, industrial metal, Thrash.my favourite band from industrial metal was and still is Fear Factory. Three best thrash bands Slayer and Megadeth, Testament.
I got into Genesis in 75 , Tull 75. . Got quickly caught up on their albums. Then along came NWOBHM. IN 79. Got into this, and discovered a gem when I got Saxons
album, just after it came out.
As with the others, I never missed a beat with them.
Now I had five all time favourite bands. Yes all of them have put out , shall we say, jacking them in??
Please add Rob Halford's "Resurrection" when he was going solo. Amazing!
Rob and BabyMetal did a live performance of painkiller! It's definitely a treat to watch! They enjoyed themselves very much, the smile on Su's face the entire song. I strongly recommend a reaction it is so fun to watch!
You could tell Rob was having a blast, and Su was over the moon.
@@Kelson64 Right! Everyone matched the energy and it was an awesome performance to watch!
It was fun)
Painkiller and Breaking the Law with Yui and Moa playing a little bit guitar
@@ripley7840 Hmm, I'm not sure if they really played the guitar. Moa maybe. Pretty sure Yui was pretending. Still really cool.
This is the metal National Anthem. The reason why nothing else by them is requested is simple. Painkiller exists. Why request anything else when you can ask for Painkiller? It’s a tour de force. It sticks in your head and it’s brutal. And guess who just did a cover for a fan only release, and covered it note perfectly. Lovebites. Haruna kills it. M&M destroy it, and Asami puts in a fantastic performance of let’s face it, a taxing vocal line. You can find it on RUclips. A very fitting tribute to a musical milestone.
Ok glazer calm down we want other songs
I think this song is just basically relentless. It’s a freight train. And it seems like a lot of bands go thru that: straying far from their roots, until it goes a bit too wide, and they end up reverting. Whether it’s experimentation, growth or, hell, selling out. Still, when a band goes this hard, hey, you gotta acknowledge it. Side note: I found myself wondering about all the reactions that scored in the 9 range. That would be some kinda list.
My favorite Priest album, Painkiller. I was turned on to Priest back at Ozzfest '04. I only really knew their radio hits, so I was blown away when I seen them. Particularly when they played Painkiller... Another album you should check out is Halford's first solo album "Resurrection" from 2000. I don't like using the term "underrated," but Resurrection is one of the best metal albums I've ever heard.
What a incredible band. First heard of them in the late 70's. The first song I heard was " dreamer deceiver ". When Rob Halford actually had long blonde hair. A skinny Rob Halford !!!!
Wow im born 1981 and never before have i see anyone piuck apart this song as well as you did. WOW i wish i could just give ya a high five buddy. FINALLY someone that KNOWS tthis sooooong. ffs my metal heart just boomed. Big hug from Sweeden
What an awesome perspective to witness. Funny, this is the album that got me interested in JP and helped me explore music deeper. I was 12 years old visiting a friend, and this was playing in the background in his room. At some point, I just stopped whatever we were doing and was like: "... dude... what is this music? It's freaking awesome!"
drummer: Scott Travis he was a fan that used to follow the band and actually set up and played in the parking lots at a lot their shows... band found out about him, and when holland was kicked out and later convicted of sleeping with a minor, they gave him a tryout and was very impressed and the rest is history!
I was into thrash metal when this came out, it took JP from being a band you respected for what they had done back in the day and made them relevant again, I still have the 7" single in a cupboard here. Strangely tho, after this album I went and listened to Ram it Down for the first time, and while I didnt have much time for most of the album it did end up containing my favourite Priest song, (Blood Red Skies) despite it being nothing like my normal tastes.
I can’t believe you have never heard this. Awesome reaction. Now do Maiden.
Well he does have a good explanation in the beginning of the video...
@@Silber7 Thank you....wish more people would watch it.
Yeah DH the entire Painkiller alblum is a masterpiece I especially love Hell Patrol.
I will definitely check out Stained Glass so ty for calling that out DH! Definitely one of my favorites by them since more thrashy. Interesting back story of how JP changed for you. You know Lovebites covers this and Midori & Miyako absolutely slay it (shocker). M&M might even play it faster than Tipton / Downing, shocker right. It's a fan-made video but definitely worth checking out (offline). Haruna's drums are insane. Why I love Lovebites, they bring back 80s metal sound with their unique touch to it. 9.2 is respectable...DV similarity, undisputed villain, lol. Great react! 🤘🐺
Stained Class
@@21Piloteer Class, got it. Ty.
Pantera listened to this album non stop during their recording of Cowboys from Hell. That's how badass this song and album is. Then they fired Rob.......absolute insanity. But if they didn't do that we'd never have Fight and Halford's solo albums which are so excellent. \,,/
No words: it's a metal simphony!! Just perfect!! Judast Priest Best performance ever! Thanks for share!! Glads everybody from Mérida Yucatán México 🌟🇲🇽😎🤟🏻🖤
love the pinch harmonics
Love the video David! I think you hit the nail on the head with the word intensity - even when RH lowers his voice before the second solo and the energy comes down a bit, it still feels so intense.
A great album(one of my faves by them)and also that's a fantastic shirt. The n64 was an awesome system minus the controller lol. Great reaction. Your facial expressions were on point as always haha especially at the start. Also a great shutout to Ian Hill. Definitely underrated.
Our little super drummer Junna has covered this song, and it's absolutely amazing to see the focus on the drumming. Plus we get to see her performance.
I held back on requesting that drum cover because I knew he had not heard Painkiller. Now the 'flood gates' are open 😀
The drummer is Scott Travis, who came from Paul Gilbert's band Racer X. Seems he brought that Racer X shredding style to Priest instantly, lol. Kinda ironic, since Racer X is heavily Priest influenced. I recommend checking out Racer X if you love this style. They never really had the money for this level of production, but the playing is off the charts.
Scott Travis the drummer from Racer X. All 6'6" of power drumming. Joined after the Ram It Down album and is still with the band....
Scott Travis’ drums on this track are legend tier.
I seem to recall that the sweep picking came from Glenn meeting Racer X's Paul Gilbert, when Scott Travis from Racer X joined the band and thought "shit, I'd better up my game"....which he did
I came here after watching your Babymetal reaction :D
So, I looked for some live versions of Painkiller on RUclips, and the most I heard Rod Halford hold that last note, was 7 seconds! Most of the times was just 3 seconds
YES! Finally, this whole album kicks #@$, up to this album I considered JP rock, hard rock, when I first heard this my mind was blown,
This is by far the best Judas Priest song I've ever heard.
Rob Halford definitely bumped up his game several notches on this song (and the rest of the album). This is his shining moment in Priest history, imo and he totally redeemed himself (not that he was ever a weak singer!). He wasn't like this on the two previous albums! I'm convinced that Rob is super-human. And believe it or not he pulls this song off in concert like you wouldn't believe!!! The rest of the band also worked really hard on the "Painkiller" album - every song is a killer!!! I saw Rob's band in a small Allentown PA bar in 2010 and it was absolutely incredible!!! He can do things with his voice that no other singer can do!!! Another thing: his lyrics are ALWAYS fascinating to listen to and they contribute to the feeling in each song! Rob's heart is truly devoted to metal!!!
Drummer is Scott Travis, used to play in racer x with Paul Gilbert! Whole album is good in fact everything since turbo and ram it down is pretty good even when Rob left for a while! Check it all out!
I'm not really a Judas Priest fan, but this is one for the DH history books (I think I voted in that poll). You had fun with all those clips, too. 🙂
The rest of the album has the same attitude and heaviness. The beauty is every song is incredibly unique and distinguished from each other. This is their best album and you are in a unique position to have the rest of the songs in this album all ahead of you. This album is up there with the greatest metal albums yo include all the big 4s. this album is just as heavy and badass as any of metalicas or megadeths in their primes. dead serious. best songs off painkiller IMO is "Leather Rebel", "Metal Meltdown", "Nightcrawler" and One Shot at Glory. Also, their most recent album in 2018 Firepower will surprise you.
SMOKIN 🔥HOT one of the greatest songs/albums from Rob Halford. BTW Fox God and Metal God were having a blast performing Pain Killer a must watch DH and hopefully you do. Now where’s my Walkman and cassette tapes 😂🤘
Subscribed! 😤 Judas Priest are legends man! Keep up the reactios!
I saw Judas Priest for the Screaming for Vengeance tour. It was a great concert. it was the first time for the new drummer.
Hey Bro... i was listen my first Judas in 1979 (as you can see, i'm not young, right)... and strangely, i stop ti listen in 1983 (i think) with the "Point of Entry)...BUT... 10 years after, surprise, with this album and this F.... masterpiece in METAL (my opinion cause everytime i take a kick in face you know)... and all change, because if i resume Judas Priest in ONE song ? just this "Painkiller, that clear !!!
Thx so much, salute from France Bro...
(Dammit...i just forget the perfect visual work on this video, a great Art with powerful energy about light effects a musicians)
Painkiller is the requested one because its the staple "First time hearing Judas Priest" RUclips food. The album is great, but beyond Painkiller "Firepower" also rocks
17:48 HE FINALLY STARTS TO HEADBANG 👌
Painkiller is an excellent album and a milestone in metal history
Song "Painkiller" is a milestone in metal history. Rest of the album is mediocre and not a milestone
@@sammysheeesh4730 Mediocre my ass. It's easily a top 5 album in their discography.
This song is a masterpiece ! Drum, guitars and vocals are crazy !!!!! My favorite song from the Priest 👏🤘
Painkiller (the album, and the song) is the pinnacle of the "heavy metal" genre. Everything a metal head wants in one song/album. Priest had good stuff before, and after, but this one melts your face off.
The best palate cleanser you could ever choose: one of the most influential, transcendent and definitive drum intros of all time... live is a superb experience to hear, I can tell you that - haven't timed it though!
You got the subscription and a like once I've heard a background rif ^_^
As for the "the only song", honestly, I'm listening for Hellrider more often than the Painkiller. But I'm not an expert at all.
"What an Intro" Hold on tight Brother!
Hi David hope all is great. True babymetal fan here 👉🦊👈🤘❤️. Anyways growing up I bought I think every single cassette tape of Judas priests. Truly loved them. Your right turbo and ram very weak. This sound here reminds me of defenders of the faith Also. If you didn’t know baby metal did a few songs with rob at a show so cool su looked so excited I would be too. Also the band just killed pain killer. Thank you for your videos your scores reaction and knowledge really impress me. Keep up the greatness stay metal
Great reaction, one of my favorites. Yes, do react to newer Priest. I'm thinking the newer album you'll here some people say some crap about is their 2008 release of "Nostradamus". It's a 23 track concept album about the name sake. I myself thinks it's a great album has a symphonic feel, but great. In his book, Rob states that it's a great work, credits the album with having his best lyric work to date, and believes it will become a significant metal work. Since it's release I have noticed people are coming around about it, but I'm sure you're going to hear opinions about that with all the comments you'll be getting about Priest
Man, treat yourself and listen to the whole album. Touch of Evil is delicious. 🤘🏽
Painkiller é a melhor de todos os tempos em termos de metal.
We just getting you ready for SLAYER with this priest song.
To me this is the album that Rob found himself and wasn't afraid to just put it out there...
The whole album as others have commented is awesome. One Shot at Glory is my favourite song of all time. Give that a listen.
Rob is just Flying on that track. Incredible.
As many others have mentioned, the album is not a Turbo! I also see you have been informed about Su Metal and Rob Halford singing Painkiller as a duet. I will request it on your Patreon. 😎
The energy on this track is outrageous. If you don't bang your head or tap your foot to this one idk what's wrong with you.
Finally! Lol ! Can you tell they were a bit angry after the trial ? Priest is tied for my favorite band of all time. The whole album is great. For me the Painkiller album is like Stained Class 2. Hope you do the whole album! Enjoy!
This is one of the best metal songs of all time imo. Demon Hunter actually had Richie Faulkner, Judas Priest's guitarist since 2011, as a guest guitarist in their new song Godless.
The idea that you didn't know who Scott Travis was is beyond baffling.
When is the next song review from this classic metal beast of an album happening? My recommendation - Battle Hymn / One Shot At Glory”. Fitting as you reviewed the first song, now do the last. That said, anything in the middle is well worth diving into. Enjoy!
Saw them in Tucson a couple weeks ago. Rob still has the voice at 71 yrs old. This was the first album with new drummer Scott Travis. He's still in the band. Excellent album that came out in 1990. 50th anniversary tour. Unfortunately Kk and Glenn no longer in band. Glenn due to health problems. I was somewhat of a priest fan before painkiller came out but when I heard painkiller I couldn't stop listening to it 🔥.
This was my first ever Judas Priest song. My dad played it for me when I was about 12 years old. It’s why I started playing drums 🤘
Post-Painkiller era : Bear in mind the next 2 albums after Painkiller - Jugulator and Demolition - Rob left and Tim "Ripper" Owens took over on vocals - but he actually does a very good job. So, remember those songs are NOT fronted by Halford.
However, Halford returns for the albums Angel Of Retribution, Nostradamus (a double-disc concept album), Redeemer Of Souls, Firepower, and the latest one, whose title escapes me now. If it helps your anxiety/curiosity, those album titles include the words "Retribution" and "Redeemer" - hopefully they live up to them, eh? Haha.
I felt similar to you in your intro (though I started listening in the 70s with Hero, Hero on cassette) - I loved all of their albums up to about Screaming for Vengeance (Stained Class is a particular favourite), wasn't impressed by Defenders of the Faith, then bailed after Turbo and didn't check out later Priest for a couple of decades. For me the song _Painkiller_ is impressive but still not my thing - glad you enjoyed it, though! The Painkiller album is a definite uptick but probably only my 9th favourite Priest album. Oddly, my favourite post SfV album is actually Nostradamus, which is definitely an uncommon opinion - I suspect you wouldn't be a big fan. Anyway, any Priest on the channel is welcome! All the best
If there is one song that can describe metal music in general, it would be Painkiller. Lovebites did their version of Painkiller and its really great. Check it out bro. Take care
One the best of heavy metal song if not the best on their times .
The whole album is a masterpiece, it all sounds like this.. one of the greatest heavy metal albums ever \m/
PS: oh and now you can do BABYMETAL with Rob Halford singing a compilation of Painkiller and Breaking the Law at the APMA awards ;)
THANK GOD for someone else who had the balls to say it - JP sounded weak on some earlier albums. But this song redeemed them completely in my view. It's fantastic!
Crazy and Amazing Voxxx
The album Painkiller was a good transition for Judas Priest. Halford went on to do two albums with Fight and Judas Priest went on with a new singer Ripper Owen's and a few years later they reunited. Listen and review Ripper Owen's debut album with Judas Priest Jugulater if you want to review the singer that proceeds Halford. Really good stuff especially the title track from Jugulater.
Scott Travis on drums, I believe. I saw Dave Holland live. Both are great drummers.
Possibly their best song
28:20 ROFL! Checking the remaining time, just doing the math... I suspect we fell a little short of that goal, haha. It's all good though.
The rest of this album is just as amazing. I got this album and Rust In Peace by Megadeth at the same time and to this day, I can't pick a favorite of the two. That should tell you how good the Painkiller album is. I remember listening to the whole Painkiller album in the car and wondering how any music could ever possible be better. I think I finally gave the winner to Rust In Peace because lyrically, I liked the themes better. I liked what the songs were about. But still, they're basically tied in awesomeness in my book.
I have been waiting for this reaction for a long time. Like you Dave after Ram it Down I gave up on them until a friend of mine got Painkiller when it came out and told me you won’t be disappointed. He was right. Based on a lot of the band like Metallica and Megadeath who were playing more aggressive and faster, the guys in Judas Priest probable said hold my beer. As for the drummer he is Scott Travis who started in Racer X with Paul Gilbert. He defiantly was a game changer for Judas Priest.🤘🤘
Great review and reaction!
The Drummer is Scott Travis, he brought in a friend Paul Gilbert to teach Glen and KK how to sweep pick!
Also I didn't mind the song Blood Red Skies from Ram it Down, it actually sounded way better performed live during the band's Epitaph World Tour in the early 2010s than in the studio recording.
Saw this tour live with Megadeth and Testament. So good!!
