Wow John, wow !! You could’ve made a 4 hour plus documentary just with this hero alone. The way he soulfully answers the questions and his authentic emotions are grasping and chilling and really got to me. So sad he is no longer with us, I could listen to him for hours on end, not to mention I’ve staring at his photos for years. RIP sir, you’re in a much better place now……. I agree, our country is in dire straits. My Veterans would be rolling over in their graves. The same freedoms they fought, died and bled for are being too easily set aside or abandoned in what seems like a communist country at times. When push comes to shove our second amendment will protect our first amendment, GUARANTEED!!!

Second, I've watched all your videos Larry (I don't always comment but I watch them ALL) and I kinda know what kind of person you are and your beliefs so I kinda understand why he didn't make the cut. Well, I didn't know who but I knew this story I would deeply affect somebody out there and possibly it was you. First of all he didn't make the cut for my first documentary because it was already produced by the time I found him in Missouri May 2007. I definitely planned on having him in my second Vietnam film which never came about because I lacked the resources to produce it. Maybe someday it will come to pass. I agree this is one of my best stories. I've kept it under wraps for a while but it's time for the world to hear this man story and his heart. Like with Doc Bartlett's story you can see a visible happening in his demeanor, face and eyes as he talks about Vietnam. Vietnam changed us all - FOREVER!!! God rest his soul. What an Honor!!! I would like to shake your hand someday my friend.

RIP Sgt Hosier and thank you for your service. My wife lost a cousin in Vietnam who was a Sea Bee and another who served as Army Tunnel Rat, he came home not wounded, but had PTSD.. I was drafted out of high school at 18 prior to Vietnam War durning the Cold War and sent to Korea for 13months. Our country is not in a good place at this time, we do not need any more of are military killed, we had to many wars in the last 20 years.

My Dad was a CW3 in Saigon. Was shot down three times and was able to recover. 😢 He came home n started his own business but in the 80’s that took a dump and he went bk into flying. 3 months later, Fathers Day… I was only 8, he never came home. The bolt in the rotor blades came out in flight. Cut the helicopter up midair in Bucks County, PA. I miss him soooooo much every single day. 😢❤

I was stopped at a intersection brakes applied, in my off road recovery truck with no crumple zone, and a lady watching her phone hit me at 40mph no brakes... she was ok due to a airbag...life can change so fast, take care🇺🇸@@nicohands9171
@nicohands9171 Well, some people volunteer to respond to emergency situations, like car accidents, fires search and rescue ect..Unfortunately, some people don't pay attention when driving..and someone hit me at a stop light at 40mph and broke my back in 2 places, shattered mutable teeth. Now 4 spine fusions in 3y and implants for teeth. So, 1st responders, like myself, get injured in the field or killed more than reported..Regardless we will always damn the dangers and race the reaper.

As a disabled retired Vietnam Vet who was in 'Nam between Jan 4-'68 to June 4-'68, I was in what is called EOD and was wounded four times. I have listened to many Vets describing their tour, and this is one of the best. Bless him. I understand him. I quietly lived my life with blindness in one eye, deafness in one ear, hard of hearing in the other ear, fragments in the brain, and critical brain damage. I am 79 now and get around on crutches as my nervous system is now suffering critically and has been for the past almost 20 years since the '68 head wound. The VA refuses to recognize the brain wound and my nerve-brain depreciation. I thus receive zero compensation for it. This is the real world. I understand I am not alone and that many Vietnam veterans have to suffer through similar "shove it" rejections by the government VA. I was told by a private neurologist that the VA does not recognize my type of brain damage even though the fragments went through the brain and are still there, and I am now suffering literal neurological damage as a result. This is the nature of brain damage. The lucky soldiers with such wounds either died or did not suffer physical disabilities like mine. Welcome home from Vietnam. The "welcome home" (sic) lasts until we leave this earth. I say no more.

I still wake up wet with sweat , memories and past experiences that will live with us forever. I don’t talk about it but luckily some people around me never ask cause they know not to ask. Respect to you Sir. We both came home. Not in a box.
These fellows who capture the images of war have been one of our greatest assets in battle. They've been able to provide images of our military raising flags, caring for our wounded in field hospitals, and showing the truth of the American spirit in extending a helping hand to small children and needy as seen in Sgt Hosier's photos. Thank you Sgt Hosier, and all those that risk their lives to capture photos of our men and women in uniform that will last forever, and allow us at home to take pride in what they do.
It was an honor Chet to meet and record his story. I miss him and hope I have been a good steward of his work. I so enjoy looking at all the faces of the people he captured. Priceless!! Timeless memories!!

I have viewed dozen of interviews with Vietnam vets and this one was the best of all of them. John was a great storyteller and the emotions added to it. Too bad he never got the chance to write a book. I was a student in high school and college during the war so hearing these stories means a lot to me to know what really went on. Thanks.

I so wish my uncle his story of being in Vietnam. The only thing he's ever told me about it was it was hot,smelled rotten, and he never wanted to see the place again. I asked what his job was. He said he was a combat engineer. I built bridges and such. Most of all, I done my job, is what he said
Just the most emotional, heart rending, gut punch Vietnam veteran interview I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen and read a lot these guy’s stories. I'm 32. A millennial born in 92. I cry over all these men. I cannot fathom what they've been through and cannot begin to put in words how much respect I have for every single one of them.
Vietnam 1968-69 101st airborne 2/502. I didn’t see much combat. I watch a lot of these presentations. Most, while I enjoy watching them, don’t get under my skin. But this one did. This man saw a lot and he bared his sole. He made me recall some good times and some hard times. He must carry a pot of sorrow or all the death and destruction he saw. I hope he has the support he needs and deserves. God bless you John Hosier.
One thing you can see about all these Vietnam vets, is it there incredibly wounded on some level. John is absolutely an amazing human being and an inspiration to all! I would like to personally thank him for his service, but I'll say rest in peace brother🙏💖🇺🇲
Johns photos are amazing and heartbreaking. The guys in those photos were just boys and to many of those boys didn’t come home. To those who came home and those that didn’t all were hero’s. God bless them all. 🙏❤️

They really need to make more Vietnam movies, just to show the horror’s of war and how corrupt America’s government was and still is today. It would teach the younger generations how not to trust the government, politicians and the military. 😢

@nicohands9171 Well, some people volunteer to respond to emergency situations, like car accidents, fires search and rescue ect..Unfortunately, some people don't pay attention when driving..and someone hit me at a stop light at 40mph and broke my back in 2 places, shattered mutable teeth. Now 4 spine fusions in 3y and implants for teeth. So, 1st responders, like myself, get injured in the field or killed more than reported..Regardless we will always damn the dangers and race the reaper.
Thank You John and you also Larry for putting this together. John painted a picture of going to Vietnam and he and countless others paid that price only they fully understand.

As a disabled retired Vietnam Vet who was in 'Nam between Jan 4-'68 to June 4-'68, I was in what is called EOD and was wounded four times. I have listened to many Vets describing their tour, and this is one of the best. Bless him. I understand him. I quietly lived my life with blindness in one eye, deafness in one ear, hard of hearing in the other ear, fragments in the brain, and critical brain damage. I am 79 now and get around on crutches as my nervous system is now suffering critically and has been for the past almost 20 years since the '68 head wound. The VA refuses to recognize the brain wound and my nerve-brain depreciation. I thus receive zero compensation for it. This is the real world. I understand I am not alone and that many Vietnam veterans have to suffer through similar "shove it" rejections by the government VA. I was told by a private neurologist that the VA does not recognize my type of brain damage even though the fragments went through the brain and are still there, and I am now suffering literal neurological damage as a result. This is the nature of brain damage. The lucky soldiers with such wounds either died or did not suffer physical disabilities like mine. Welcome home from Vietnam. The "welcome home" (sic) lasts until we leave this earth. I say no more.

These fellows who capture the images of war have been one of our greatest assets in battle. They've been able to provide images of our military raising flags, caring for our wounded in field hospitals, and showing the truth of the American spirit in extending a helping hand to small children and needy as seen in Sgt Hosier's photos.
Thank you Sgt Hosier, and all those that risk their lives to capture photos of our men and women in uniform that will last forever, and allow us at home to take pride in what they do.

I have viewed dozen of interviews with Vietnam vets and this one was the best of all of them. John was a great storyteller and the emotions added to it. I so wish my uncle his story of being in Vietnam. The only thing he's ever told me about it was it was hot,smelled rotten, and he never wanted to see the place again. I asked what his job was. He said he was a combat engineer. I built bridges and such. Most of all, I done my job, is what he said

Just the most emotional, heart rending, gut punch Vietnam veteran interview I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen and read a lot these guy’s stories. But there’s something about John……..he’s just 100% genuine and unassuming. I hate like hell that he’s passed away, I would have loved to have met him. Thanks for your Vietnam service buddy.

Vietnam 1968-69 101st airborne 2/502. I didn’t see much combat. I watch a lot of these presentations. Most, while I enjoy watching them, don’t get under my skin. But this one did. This man saw a lot and he bared his sole. He made me recall some good times and some hard times. He must carry a pot of sorrow or all the death and destruction he saw. I hope he has the support he needs and deserves. God bless you John Hosier.

@VoicesofHistory I wrote a poem years ago, then wrote music to the words. I share the poem whenever possible and sing the song when invited to. These guys are special to me; I'll soon be 70, so you can understand why. ♥️
They really need to make more Vietnam movies, just to show the horror’s of war and how corrupt America’s government was and still is today. It would teach the younger generations how not to trust the government, politicians and the military. 😢
