I really appreciate your content and historical perspective on Reno. As you mentioned, almost all other "Reno-related" stuff is generated by realtors or people with another agenda. Keep it up! Nice to see the channel grow!
1. No state income tax, fair property taxes, and no inheritance or estate taxes. 2. Possible to get a concealed carry permit. 3. Fewer bugs and mosquitos. 4. No humidity. 5. Great offroading.
I adore your videos so much my friend it truly makes me miss the area. My mom’s side is from the Reno area and the Mrs. And I actually lived their 4 years before moving to Central Texas a year ago. We are actually moving back next year to Carson. Miss it far too much.
Here in Georgia one can get a concealed carry permit on-line which is recognized in 33 states. I visit family in Reno often but leave my firearms at home.
I've wanted to vacate my lifelong Nor Cal home for Nevada for a long time, for all the reasons you mentioned, and more. But my Mom is 93 now, and I'm staying put until she moves on. If I last long enough...I'm 73.
The humidity in southern Michigan is not that bad, typically just in July and August lasting a few days until drier air moves in. Nothing like the oppressive humidity in SE Texas.
I really like the Nevada info that you provided, was very helpful , I really would consider it , but the snakes 🤨 something to think about it too ! Thank you !
Fleas and ticks are not around in Northern Nevada because its to dry of a climate and winter gets cold. If you want to see a roach pay a visit to The Ponderosa at 515 S. Virginia St. Its a locale that can offer you the experience of bearing witness to not only one but two species of roaches.
True, Nevada has a common sense CCW policy. But here in Idaho we are Constitutional Carry, any citizen in good standing can carry a firearm both open or concealed .The politeness factor is off the charts.
#1.: I live in CA and do not want to buy a home here. I'm applying for a CA-based job that is remote, so I could live in Reno, but unfortunately CA will still take CA income tax. But it's worth getting out of CA and not paying those property taxes. #2.: I won't even bother to try in CA. In Reno, I'll do my best to get one. #3.: !! Wow! Mosquitos are my worst enemy. This is great news! But sad to hear about the rattlesnakes 😞 #4.: Today here in Sac it's 100 on 10/7/2024. Yes! 100 degrees in Oct. I can handle the nineties. Love it. #5.: What about cycling? I'm talking about paved bike trails? P.S. Don't worry--I'm not brining CA politics to NV. I hate CA politics.
I lived in Reno for 47 years and last year's snow storms and COLD temps, made me make a change and move to a milder climate and am happy I made the move 😊
Me and my husband have decided to move to the Carson City area from the bay area CA. We're tired of all the politics that are ruining ca (that we also didn't vote for). I'm currently looking for a job over there but I'm worried that nevada just doesn't have a strong pharma/biotech industry or if there isn't a lot of jobs because of the times. I've applied to about 30 listings in surrounding cities with no call backs. Another thing I'm worried about is being denied housing or a job simply because I'm Californian, because most Other states hate us and group us all the same
Hello. Work in the same industry, and also lived in Reno/Tahoe for a short time roughly five years ago. Their isnt much really directly related to biopharma, but variations such as chemical or formulation companys like Clorox for example, or medical labs. The gigafactory also hires staff from all over if your looking for a transition job. Hope this helps ✌
Had a place in Incline Village, should have kept it..the income tax rates are the top reason for me...and here in California prop 13 has protected us from high property taxes that we have owned for decades...the car registration isnt as good as it used to be, unless you live remotely smog is required...and he never mentioned Nevadas great spendthrift trusts some of the best in the nation i have a few
One of the drawbacks to those low taxes is a decidedly mediocre flagship university. Think about how many college students leave Nevada not for the Ivies or U of Chicago or Stanford but just for much better state flagship universities such as the UC campuses, University of Washington or the Big Ten schools. Often many of them never return to Reno.
I had to laugh about the conceal carry permit! I live in North Bay Area and getting a CCW is, for all intents and purposes, impossible. Theoretically it's possible, but so is winning the lottery.
Enjoyed the video. But the statement "An armed society is a polite society" doesn't jive with friendly by world standards. I've been to dozens of countries and the most polite ones are those where the firearms per capita were lowest, along with the fact of low death rates by firearms. Seems the fact Americans are known for obtrusiveness while having the most firearms per capita doesn't quite jive with that statement. I guess if you're not polite you can be shot is what "an armed society is a polite society" implies. Or should I say, you can disagree with someone, unless their armed.
"An armed society is a polite society." What a ridiculous statement. I respect your normally intelligent commentary and I suspect you will, upon reflection, regret your absurd assertion.

I live in Northern California about 4 hours from Reno. I love going to Nevada! The off roading with our side by side is great and so is the hunting.
Cheers!
We grew up in Indiana, a good place to grow up. But Nevada is our home since 1965. Love it.
That's a good run!

82 percent possible sunshine in Reno! That was the selling point for me here.

I've lived in southern Nevada for 4 years and never once have I seen a snake. Just be aware of your surroundings and all is good.
When states turn blue, they're usually astronomically unaffordable.
Really appreciate your content. I think the fear of death relating to social interactions isn't a good thing.

Bikes - I'm a very casual bike rider and I know of some trails, but will defer to anyone thats more bike-knowledgable!

Yeah, where to?
Here in California our cockroaches have 2 legs and run our State Capital .
Sad but oh so true!
😂😂
And they lose $28 billion and just say "oopps."

They require smog in Nevada? Bummer.
Too many Californians retire here.
They have ruined Nevada.

Right?
They have already ruined it. PERS..Take your ill gotten gains and go back to to Calif.

thought about it but when you dig deep nevada is just Eastern california and why i moved to Idaho
Nevada sucks! Don’t move here!
(especially if you’re from Calizuela!)
I tell people from California it’s a great place to live. Just leave the Liberal Cool Aid over there if they plan on settling down here. 🤫
