The fire alarm went off at school when because of a building services guy. Listened to this for about 40 minutes during class. Enjoy this 10 second video@
Bradford WIMN This sounds like the fire drills at my high school. But my school had different alarms in the bathrooms down the north hallway. It's the one alarm I hate. The simplex true alerts.
Many scoreboards use the same mechanical horn as the one in the video. The horn was and still is manufactured by Federal Signal as the Vibratone 350, but other companies, such as Standard Electric Time and Simplex Time Recorder would rebrand it as their own. Standard Electric Time rebranded this as the 4-350, while Simplex rebranded this as the 4040. The grill was redesigned in the late 70s to a vandal resistant design.
My Junior High school has Simplex Chevrons, a couple of Simplex T-Bars, a Simplex 4005, and Simplex 4041s. The vocational building of the high school has Simplex 4051s, Simplex Chevrons, and a SIMPLEX 4004!!!
The school I'm talking about was divided into two buildings the old building which had a similar system set up to this one I'm thinking it was either built in 1920s or the 1930s
Yes yes yes. Its my high schools fire alarm. Gosh I've been looking for videos of it. Thank you so much. Wait...which one is this. Is it the 4050 horn or a 4040 vibratone horn? I literally had to suffer that shit. Cause it was so loud. I was in the bathroom fixing my makeup when that damn alarm went off. Gosh. Scared the hell outta me. They had that set to continuous
This horn is actually a Standard Electric Time 4-350. It is a rebranded version of the Federal Signal 350 A1, but it’s better known as the Simplex 4040. I have one, and it’s extremely loud on max volume, I can’t imagine what it must have been like for you in school.
@@-Productions-wp8do pretty damn loud. I was outside the bathroom when it went off for a drill. I got a quick glance at the front doors when the principal was at the pull station before they set them off.
Those types of alarms are what gave me nightmares as a kid growing up. Lol
Now that’s what a fire alarm is supposed to sound like
Nothing sounds better than mechanical horns
Got that right!
so true
We had these at our elementary school. It was so loud and jarring it would literally cause jump scares.
Sounds like my old elementary school, I kinda miss it honestly
40 minutes of 4040's is 40 minutes too many.
That physically hurt to read
That would be ow to ears 40 minutes of March time is notas bad

Does the horn have a round or square metal plate? If it's round then the horn is a standard 4-350 (originally a federal 350 same as 4040
Looks like it, I bet this is a 4040
Was it a bell test
What college is this? That 60s modernist architecture is lovely!!
Sounds like a Simplex 4050 to me.
I want.
The horn looks like a Simplex 4050 but what pull station is that?
An old Standard pull I believe, not sure of the model number though.
+MrFictionalBeing I Have One!
