Playstatioin Japan showcased some new gameplay earlier today. Some pvp multiplayer and a new mission was shown. I compiled the gameplay moments. There is japanese commentary given by the presenters over the gameplay. Enjoy! The combat seems more like those Gundam Vs games, where you're always locked on and just strafe back and forth shooting. I was hoping for the more open, freedom and movement of AC For Answer. But this will have to do, since its the only new AC game in over a decade.
The hard lock lowers your FCS accuracy, not to mention it makes your AC move in a predictable way. Staying hard locked on the entire time will probably not be a wise strategy for lightweight builds, since their key advantage is the better movement capacity. The movement will certainly not be as freeform as 4/4A, but it's not safe to assume that every AC will want to stay hard locked to the enemy. In another gameplay showcase yesterday, a lightweight AC lost to a tank because he stayed locked on at mid range, which severely limited his movement options.
