This is the best kind of tutorial because you talk about the tools but in the context of making a finished piece as opposed to a series of random brush styles. I have found the water colors to be very intimidating and hard to control, but because of this video, I'm going to give it a shot.

This is really helpful feedback. Thank you. I will look at the format I used in this video and try to make a few more like it. It is difficult sometimes as everyone likes different video styles so I try to mix it up a bit. Thanks again and hope you have a great 2024 ahead. All the best with your watercolour adventures.

@@weebobart Oh if I had the software, I'm sure it would be of immense use! As it was, it was very informative... And information is useful in itself. But I had to check out your art, since you got my obscure "wensleydale" reference the other day. 🙂

Thanks rmderon, glad you found some useful tips. This is quite an easy way to make videos so I might just try to go with this method for the moment as it doesn't require too much editing. Anyway hope you are doing well and thanks as always for watching along, I appreciate the support.

Very helpful! Thanks for making this video. I’m still new to Rebelle, coming over from Procreate and traditional watercolor. Your demos of the different way of working with “water” really clarified these features for me.

@@weebobart You’re very welcome. Your videos are great. I have a question…and keep in mind that I’m still new to Rebelle…I have yet to find a satisfactory way of emulating a controllable flat brush where I can use very thin strokes in any angle following the tilt of the pen but then get a flat stroke from the width of the brush. I’ve tried many available flat brush presets and have tried experimenting with the brush creator settings. In traditional watercolor painting I use a flat brush most of the time, so I’d really like to solve this. Any advice?

@@SMA78070 unfortunately the tilt function on my huion tablet doesn't work despite many hours of trying to fix this. If I get a chance I will try to have a look at how to achieve this result. The only way I can think to achieve it would be to make two brushes and use keyboard short cut to go between them quickly, this is not what you are looking for I realise. Anyway if I figure out a way I will let you know, it would help if the tilt worked for me though. Cheers again.

@@weebobart Hey thanks for the response. Are you sure it's your tablet? I have the same trouble with my Wacom Intous - the tilt and rotation functions aren't as controllable as I'd like. Your idea for a workaround is a good one actually, much better than what I have been doing, which is to set the brush rotation to none but then adjust the angle as needed.

@@weebobart Hey Wee Bob. After trying a bunch of different options, I have the flat brush working the way I expect now. I now have the Huion Giano tablet, replacing the Wacom Intuos. Main thing is to not use "follow trajectory" on a flat brush. I found that I had to tilt the stylus much more than I expected to get a result. Finally, for me, it really helped to offset the tilt by 45 degrees in Preferences so that it was more natural to control the angles. If your tilt doesn't work at all..that's a big problem!

I love Rebelle but sometimes the watercolour takes a little wrangling…. Your videos are invaluable and very informative in this respect .. very appreciative of you sharing your learnings .. for instance my default has been to use brush properties water opacity etc but your dynamic use of the canvas settings has been a bit of an eye opener for me .. thanks 🙏
I look forward to you future tutorials wee-Bob .. it’s great to have a community around this fantastic app.
Oh and some lovely work created you have! 👍
