I love breaking down relationships in film and tv. This was so fun! Thank you for having me ♥️
I love your insights. I sent this video to my family.
I absolutely love your takes 💜
just subscribed to your channel!!
And thank you for providing pensive insight and entertainment for us!
Omg it's so great seeing you on this channel you deserve the spotlight!
I think what I always laughed about with the Addam's Family is that even though they seem so abnormal and the kids are constantly trying to kill each other, they are actually one of the least dysfunctional of families on TV or in movies. Morticia and Gomez love one another, passionately. They listen to their children and allow them space. They allow them to make mistakes but then to also fix the mistakes themselves. And yet, if someone asks for help, it is always given, without limits. Truly, they are the best tv/movie family.
I agree, they are unconventional, but there is lots and lots of love there
I never knew how much I needed a therapist breaking down sibling dynamics in media, especially Thor and Loki, until now 🤩
If you want more on Loki and Thor, check out Cinema Therapy channel: ruclips.net/video/AsNvzGbS9do/видео.html
@@the_socialphobic_girl I was gonna suggest that!!! Glad to see it!
@@the_socialphobic_girlI was getting in the comments to say the same thing! They are the best!! A therapist & a film makers perspective, the best of both world
oh please make it a series of just them two
*I really want her to dive deep into the Roy family(Succession) dynamics analysing the role of each of the members and their influence on each other, the interactions between them is what I think makes the show more engaging than it already is*
That would be a scary deep dive, but absolutely fascinating for sure.
Yes, the show gives us so much fascinating insight into each Roy’s relationship with their parents and their different siblings and how that affects their entire identity and actions. There’s endless material there.
Your comment perplexes me. How can their interactions make the show even better than it already is? Those interactions are literally part of the show, lol.
Did you mean to say, that breaking down their exchanges would make the show even better than it already is? Or do you mean the interactions between them makes the show better then just the plot line alone?
@@signommi6660 not op but i read their comment as the writers adding the complex siblings dynamic & understanding it as viewers makes the show even better than just watching it on the surface or if it was just plot-focused
Lol what's the point of bolding if you're just going to bold every word
To be fair. Thor has spent almost every movie giving Loki second chances. I think the elevator scene was just him finally relenting to his exhaustion and just letting Loki do what he thinks Loki wants to do. He’s tired of the mind games. He’s tired of being the one to give second chances. He’s tired of being the one shedding tears and mourning over someone he loves but who has repeatedly stabbed him in the back. He’s tired of dealing with the consequences of Lokis actions. He’s got a lot on his shoulders having to deal with one crazy older sibling trying to destroy Asgard. He didn’t have the energy to deal with another. Dudes tired man
Super fair
exactly! lol Loki pissed me off.
I wish they hadn't used the scene where Wednesday says she wants to be normal, or had at least provided some context. Wednesday's putting on an act to get on the councilors' good side so that she can get back at them later. She's not expressing an authentic desire. Truly, Pubert (the baby) in that movie is the child to reference when talking about parents accepting their kids - because while Pubert is too young to truly be experimenting with his identity, Gomez and Morticia do have conversations about how to accept their "normal" baby and then do their best to go against what feels natural to them and provide Pubert with "normal" things.
I totally agree
Correct. Wednesday is her authentic self. She’s not interested in participating in the monolith
My thoughts exactly.
I screamed seeing Little Miss Sunshine as one of the movies!!! That’s my favorite movie and I’m so glad to see whoever chose it at Vanity Fair has good taste!! That’s the only scene in the movie that I sometimes have to skip because it’s so hard to watch.
I just love her and her channel I’m so glad vanity fair is highlighting her gifts in a unique way!! Congrats to you Steph Anya!!
I didn't know she had a channel! I'm subscribed! thank you 😄
In case you didn't see it, she also did couples on the GQ channel, two parts.
such a great video! another show that would be interesting to analyze is the umbrella academy. it has soooo many family dynamics between the siblings, along with their individual childhood trauma.
omg yes that's an amazing idea
Thirded!
Yessss
Whenever I watch a video with her - whether on her own channel or as a guest on other popular channels - it is an absolute delight! She is amazing in her ability to get her point across!
loved this therapist! she's so knowledgeable but also patient and kind. Would love to see her in more videos!!
She needs to be a regular. She's fantastic.
@2:27 that is the same thing my parent said. Glad you called it out. Saying "I did the best I could" the dropping the topic does nothing.
More of this incredible professional!! I love her! I love this!
So interesting how she breaks down the dynamics in these shows I would never think of these scenarios, I’m impressed!!!
Please do more of these! Loved the therapist. So interesting to see when she talked about the clip of This is Us where I wouldn't even have assumed there is anything wrong there with therapist asking those questions and that it would have been better to have them be there one by one instead of everyone together. More please!
She did a couple for Wired and she even has her own channel with more show and movie relationship breakdowns! 😊
Wow, this was so genuinely helpful and inspiring to watch. The part where she's reflecting on the movie INside Out (haven't even seen it) - that comment about how to ask open ended questions to get someone to open up naturally is SO BRILLIANT AND OBVIOUS. I can't wait to try it. Also, just everthing else...but for sure as well at the end when she talks about reflecting back before responding - that's suuuuuper helpful!
I love her!!! she makes this topic so understandable & clear-- please more of her!!
I love Steph’s channel! So great to see her talents highlighted on this platform.🙌🏽
I want a whole series with her reviewing to all kinds of relationships
15 seconds in, and I'm hooked. Dang, such a good read on that dynamic.
I wonder if therapists do this all the time when they watch shows and movies lol.
Yep! It all started in graduate school when we had to analyze various relational dynamics during different movies and video clips.
@@Carma2010 exactly! Now we over analyze individuals and systems on a daily basis.
I think anyone in a specified field with a lot of years and experience will look at something at a critical view, you should check Insider's " is it real?" Or something like that. You'll see that they can't help but look at movies and tv shows with a critical view even if they like the movie
Yes!! Lol 😂 We can’t help it really.
@@TheMelanatedDoctor now everything is a case study
OMG it's StephAnya! I LOVE her therapist based videos! Please bring her back!
I love every time a video comes out with her; I know somewhere there was one where she reviewed couples' fight scenes. She's so wise and experienced!
This was a really well done video! It is always amazing how Steph can identify different dynamics so quickly and be spot on 😮Looking forward to more!
omg I loved this!!! bring her back for a part 2 for sure!!!!
The entire video was well intended and @15:00 to closing it became even more priceless. "Give your child some space and some grace." ❤ Thank you.
I would love Stephanie to dissect all of the Modern Family dynamics. That would make a great video, too.
This is great, please bring her back for a part 2+!
omg, so happy they brought you back for another episode! you're awesome!
love steph anya!! so glad to see her here!
She is just THE BEST! Love when yall have her on these videos. BRING HER BACK FOR MORE!
Yes!! This is the one I've been waiting for!! Thanks, VF!!
I love Succession! & Steph did a great job on her breakdown! 👏🏾 👏🏾♥️
Loved the breakdowns!!
YES!! I'm so glad this therapist is back!!! SHE'S THE BEST!!!!
I'm soooo excited that Vanity Fair did another video with Steph Anya. I love her. This was another great analysis video. She also looks lovely with her pink nails and makeup. I hope there are more videos to come in the future
This was a fun watch and this therapist is amazing!
Love Steph Anya! 🥰🥰 She's amazing!
Great choices in clips, I didn’t know the new ish ones but you are soooo on point makes sense. Sending love to you and yours form Orlando Florida
Omg she’s back!!
I really love her
Hope she'll continue with her videos
I would love to see her break down Riley's breakdown in Inside Out. It's such a beautiful scene of how to create a space where kids can be vulnerable, teach emotional intelligence, and navigate big emotions in a family. It's so beautiful.
I absolutely love Stephanie! Also the makeup is just great ♥
Yeah! My favorite therapist is back! 😍😍😍
She is my favorite! Her breakdown on those GQ videos are so eye opening!!
That was so good! I was just disappointed you didn’t use the Addams family as an example of a functional family.
Oh I love her! Her videos are amazing!
Loved this 💯🙌🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥
She is amazing. Such good insights!!
Im about to start family therapy and I’m so scared. I always love these analysis, they’re so helpful
She’s back! I love her~
She is the best. Bring her back for more!
Mrs doubtfire was my childhood movie
This was difficult to watch but really helpful
I love her so much!! ❤❤❤ I wish they would do the family dynamics in the movie "Warrior". That would be a good one to dive deep into
I looooove her and her channel!
Yea… it those Speedbumps! Wow!
I appreciate her view point.. but.. has she ever seen any of the Addams family?
the show.. any of the live action movies.. any of the animated?
100% Wednesday already knows who she is, what she wants, and what she likes. For such a young woman, she is incredibly mature, intelligent, and insightful. Her family was incredibly nurturing and supportive, as the therapist noted, which is why Wednesday already knew who she was as an individual.
she is simply manipulating those around her for revenge.
However, I do appreciate that she seemed to put all the blame on Thor.. even though Loki has attempted to kill Thor several times, turned him into a snake (a creature that Thor feared), had him exiled, and betrayed him at least a dozen times.
I can see that the therapist is very caring, insightful, and intelligent. She clearly knows more than I on the subject of family, and I agreed completely with her assessments of the other family units she reviewed.
I mean…clearly she’s just going based off of the scenes they’re showing her
Yes I love these!
I hope this therapist got PAID because they broke this down wonderfully and in terms I can understand
I absolutely love Stephanie, she is so insightful and has so much knowledge. You guys should definitely check out her RUclips channel 🥰
Succession has the best family dynamics on tv- their ensemble scenes are top tier
She’s backkkk
My family is exactly Schitts Creek. It was like it was written about us. I cringed because I'm near exactly David
yes I love steph, she is so insightful!! first saw her on GQ. glad to see other channels picking her up. go check her out yall
I want to watch this women everyday. She’s helping me to heal my relationship although I’m single.
That bit with the cigar was pretty profound to hear
LOVE THIS SO MUCH
I love her! Y’all go watch her breakdown love is blind. Amazing.
little miss sunshine is such a great movie. the color test is heartbreaking!
I LoVe ThEsE!!! They bring so much healing Fr ❤️🩹
Easiest explanation for every situation: Real Life is fake and Fake entertainment is always real! False fake life real
Awesome thanks for sharing interesting video very informative
I'm so glad the algorithms have led me here just now. 💞 We thank thee for your wisdoms and talent and generosity. 🙏Namaste
LOVE HER!!!!
One of the big problems in my family is that my sister and her partner are extremely conflict-avoidant, and while I try to give them time and space to be ready to talk about issues, if I waited for that then often they would often just completely repress things, and in the meantime the lack of resolution is causing me pain. It's extremely tough to balance our different needs.
SHE IS THE MOMENTTTTTTTTT
I would love to watch her talking about gilmore girls
A part two for Knives Out and Hereditary
Loki will always be the god of mischief, but he can be soo much more.
the little miss sunshine scene is brutal
9:45 - 10:08 A word for me! where can i send my offering?
Wait, you really think Wednesday meant she wanted to sing and dance and play Pocahontas in the play? The plan was to burn it down. Please. Do not come for the Addams Family.
EVERYONE should check out her RUclips channel 🥰
In all fairness, you can’t really apply relative family therapy techniques on gods who are more than a thousand years old, especially when one of them is the literal god of mischief who has openly admitted, in the MCU at least, to being a narcissist
Yo! Steph's vids go hard. Check out her channel because she does not miss.
what's her channel called
@@_jtopiaa Steph Anya, LMFT
I was hoping little miss sunshine would be in this. I love that movie so much, but sometimes it’s so uncomfortable.
Do you have a you tube channel
Anyone else want her as their therapist?
This is a stellar piece; much like a book that was stellar in its narrative and impact. "The Art of Meaningful Relationships in the 21st Century" by Leo Flint
i am looking IN HER EYES
You should do the gilmore girls!!!!
❤️❤️❤️
Was onboard til she said she doesn't watch succession 😂. No ill will but it is one of the best shows on television!
Nice pair 😏
How you not watch the table scene in Hereditary
THANK YOU for explaining the problematic behavior of Kevin's therapist in This is Us. Seeing this seen made me angry because she was CLEARLY biased and wasn't approaching the session with an open-minded perspective at all... I understand Kevin is her client and all but feeding into his egotistical perspective made his ability to be in a healthy relationship worse. Thus, the chaos between Kevin and Randall ensued.
Late to the party but totally sucked in just by the thumbnail. Love this lady, love Schitt’s, yes.
I love Steph!!! Check out her RUclips channel
