We also have fireflies in the Midwest. There are several varieties. In most varieties the females also light up. In some the males fly around using “glow signals” and the females, who stay in the grass or in plants, flash back when they like a certain blinker 😉. We call them Lightning bugs.
I live in Ohio and our house is surrounded by a forest, so when the fireflies come out at night, all you see is lights blinking on and off in the trees for hours, millions of them. They put on a beautiful show every night, I love it. I love your spread, too, it's beautiful!
Loved the gallery page! It looks soo good! Also think you did a fantastic job on the front page with the forest. I have black paper and gel ink pens but am always afraid to try and draw or do anything creative with them, so they mostly just sit in the pile of unused stationary, haha.

We called them lightning bugs growing up in PA too!
