I have to say this. You are truly a blessed man. I hope you and your wife have one of those 50-60 years of love and devotion. Maybe this is asking too much but. Seeing you teaching your kids to fish would be a hoot.
I’m glad you spoke about the dry suit. I just bought my first one to get out a little earlier for spring run up north. How about a video on getting into and out of one, I’m finding it a little difficult lol. I practiced a few times the last 2 nights till I brake a sweat. Thanks
Good stuff man , When I find a ledge like that , which is rare in Oregon inlet , I try to put something down there but usually nothing I have is heavy enough to reach the bottom without going immediately sideways from the current. Most of the time , its just too strong for fish to want to stay there in it , but on the backsides of a point where the current wanes off , usually find some there. Our stuff is usually fishing in the 3 to 5 foots range. Lots of long cast , and fishing a lure back to the kayak. Fun stuff.
Our creeks here in dundalk are terrible, with the weeds from last summer dead covering the whole bottom in a nasty sludge every time you reel in your hook/lure is covered. weed problem getting worse by the year around here making it hard to catch a fish !
I don’t know how much fishing I’ll be doing I tore my rotator cuff in my shoulder after 25 years being a glazier in Boston maybe I’ll have to get a electric winch for deep sea this year but they get expensive
I was taught years ago that the broken stripes indicated some hybrid genes. Don’t know if that is true but the broken striped ones sure had a hybrid looking shape to me (stocky with small heads/mouths)
2:18 nursery stock fish IMO. 20yrs ago you never saw a broken line striper if you did it was considered a hybrid. Now on the Roanoke over 50% have broken lines but clearly aren't hybrids. A lot of the fisheries are reliant on hatchery restocking now I think that's what's caused the broken lines in the stripers.
Looks like a good selection of nice sized fish. With so many channels to check out, is there much difference between any of them or are they all pretty much the same no matter how fast the current or how deep the water is?
@@EliasVFishing I guess I'll have to risk losing more gear as I tend to stay farther away from any structure/hidden deadfalls. I was just reading about people harvesting "sinker wood" in your area... sounds like quite a hobby much like fishing.
Where do you striper fish in Maine? I live in the bath area and last year I couldn’t catch a bass smaller then 21 inches around Casco bay tons of big fish around the islands farther out

An average day for you would be the day of a lifetime for me!
Was nice meeting you that day at the ramp man, as always great videos!
Same to you!
5 and 7 inch bubblegum zoom flukes are my go to for stripers and blues
I wish my bad days looked like that!
Thanks Elias

By watching your videos your window is alway wide ope with opportunities. Nice job .
This reminds me of fishing in Montauk light house in NY!

Fish your structure around slack water then !
Those Stick fish look really nice when you mount them on a wall plaque. Thanks.
Great sharing my friend.. Good job.. 👍🙏
Love your content, keep it up brother ✌️
Some of those striper looked like they were feeding up good, the red too. Zoom never fails and hey the price is right
Good forage source typically for the striped bass. Summer water temps are too hot combined with low dissolved oxygen is the problemZ
Man the wind and the current was ripping at times. March is always when the wind machine picks up!
Great!

Having a warmer winter probably makes it harder for that too imo.
LOL! I thought you were gonna retire that net 😂
Almost that time of year
I don’t know how much fishing I’ll be doing
I tore my rotator cuff in my shoulder

I’ve heard that too. Lots of genetic variations on stripers from river to river as well.
Elias, ever given any thought to targeting striped bass around the Roanoke river, albemarle sound area?
It’d be a cool trip I’ll try it sometime

Makes a lot of sense to me. I’m not sure how the hatcheries work in regards to gene pools and particular strains having “instincts” to thrive as well.
@@EliasVFishing yep, could be some longterm detrimental consequences IF wildstock are being replaced.
Tfw the local legend was a legend before he was a local. 🤷♂️
🤣😂......😮💨
Just a kid who loves to fish…that grew into an adult that loves to fish 👍
The yankee goat at it again!!!!
Which procure “flavor” were you using for the stripers? I’m going to try it on our stripers here in Cali. Thanks.
I usually use blue crab or menhaden
Looks like your given the hobie a rest?
When the tide's ripping, the powered Yak' must be a game-changer. Keep that dry suit handy. The weather is a long way from "settled".
Yeah you are right! Looks like I’ll need it again.

All are different and have certain quirks or tidal phases they produce. The more structure the better usually.

🎣🤙🏼🐟
The Yankee Goat terrorizing stripers old school style. BTW what’s up with that net?
Yeah I like how little space it takes up, but it totally sucks.
Its like a net with an escape hatch. 🤣
It’s like a TED on a trawl net. Turtle Exclusion Device, it allows sea turtles to escape trawl net. 😊
You can't call yourself a fishermen if you can't catch the old Timber Trout.
where is that place
For just the price of a cup of coffee , you too can help Elias buy a new net. Won't you help make a difference today?
Do they actually stock hybrids there?
Nope
any reason why you can’t rig weedless around that wood?
You can, I have a hard time fishing depth + current weedless.
LOL, you aren't fishing in the right spots if you're not losing tackle...nice vid.
where are you fishing ? state?
NC
I thought you were retiring that net???? lol
Yeah I should have.
#netlife
Such a cool fisherie.
Those Stripers were fattys. They look totally different from what I see in Maine.

pls repli
Get a net!
Still got the broken net, mate?
