- I challenged him again without running away here • Baldur's Gate 3: Solo ...
Tactician.
This was technicallly my first real attempt as my actual first attempt was a test run to examine him.
I was told he had a second phase? did he get bugged ?
Gear is here • Baldur's Gate 3: Solo ...
lmfao
Other Raphael solo vids: "Some OP combo where they 1 shot him before he can move"
Rogue solo: "So anyways, I started running"
Hahahaha this cracked me up

Well played! In case you ever decide to do a re-run as Rogue I suggest getting the statue of yourself in the Act 3 circus for 5k gold. You can cast Command: Drop on it to get a second copy of your Hellfire Crossbow for free. Two fire hand crossbows looks sick af
I had no idea you could do that. Excellent
Thats insane
You're a genius!
No way… I had the statue too..Jesus
Holup can you do this with anything?
Imagine watching this scene without the turn based combat. A rogue running away, shooting explosive arrows at the cambions only for them to keep following and getting blasted infinitely.
that's what my rogue on diablo do
The greatness of your strategizing aside, I appreciate how well Larion portrays devils. A lot of DMs I've played with disregard their lawful nature -often treating devils as smart and demons as dumb- not even using it as the characterization tool it can be. Love Raphael's monologue at the start!
This was awesome. Just a shame his theme doesn’t play anywhere during the fight and only the the final room
I never thought about.. just running back through the doors
Abit strange that the doors aren't locked.
Ahh, stealth archer wins again.
I know leaving the room is integral to the strategy, but cutting off Raphaels Final Act should be punishable with damnation
Starts off cool, then turns into college theater class real fast.
@@Saixah Damn. I should have hung around more theater students in college then, because that track slaps
@@StUCaboose if you say so, but eh.
@@Saixahyou're in the minority. It's fantastic.
@michaelhavran2078 "here comes the claws". 🤓
This was my favorite fight in the game. Super intense and fun.
Same here. The acting is superb too. Really pulls you in.
The irresistible dance spell works on Raphael. Ten turns and he can only perform certain reactions. Just keep the caster from being hit so you don't lose it.
Thats how I do it
Me: I cast Ottos Irresistible Dance, you can't take any actions! heh
Raphael: I use my action to cast Firebolt.
Me:🤬
@kalebgerace He does have some free actions he can take that aren't lost when he's forced to dance, because he's a filthy cheat. These include drawing from the Soul Pillars and transforming into his fursona. Still allows my hard hitters to beat the smarm out of him with advantage, though.
lol he got bodied by a level 1 hideous laugher in my run, his WIS save is trash
I think his second phase only triggers after you destroy the soul pillars, just had it today. Destroy all 4 pillars, 1 turn where he's just "stunned" then transformation. But the transformation is nothing special. Think Slayerform for Bhaalite, he does close to 0 melee damage but has a few special moves.
On Tactician he can transform whenever he wants.
it triggers once he gets below a certain amount of health, at least he did for me. I didn't catch on to destroying the pillars until after he had already transformed. don't remember exactly what number though but less than half health I think
i destroyed 2 and he transformed, also oneshoted Hope and Karlach tanked the dmg like a champ
He doesn't last more than one turn against me. I always have a high dex wizard holding Raphael
My 1st time with him he didnt get to transform so I didnt know until I saw the videos of it. My strategy was to kill some cambions while Yirgur exploded indebtors near us (and reason why I ignored destroying the pillar because he could handle the enemies). Though I had to ignore the indebtors so we wouldnt keep getting hit by the radius lol. Few turns later I made all party to corner Raphael so every time he moved everyone be like OPPORTUNITY ATTACK. Took 3 turns to kill him
Raphael:epic speech
PC: Strong word for a being in hand crossbow distance.
Yurgir rolling up like a gang meet up in 90’s LA will never not be funny to me 😂
Walking out the portal with open arms never ceases to get me. You can tell (If you fought Yurgir before) that he silently said a whole lot of things with that entrance.
This was the fight I've been waiting for. It gives me hope in my play through... I'm not creative as most and this give me ideas. NOW the next challenge will be freeing all people in the iron throne solo!
10 turn haste and invis.
@@captainenot3185 then the issue becomes having all of the prisoners survive the trip back
unless the invis prevents the fish dudes from spawning, in which case this sounds completely reasonable
@@jj2621 I just used a lot of bugs because solo journey is hard. There us a funny interaction with a ring that gives you +3 m to your speed. If you f5 and f8, the bonus will apply again, essentially giving you infinite movement. Bring 20 invis potions and throw them intro every prisoner you find. They'll be good to go). You can do this all in 2 turns since opening the cages does not require an action.
I managed to do that as a fighter solo, haste and fly for efficient movement helps a lot, i was also using the duelist prerrogative for the extra attack, helps geting rid of the enemies without wasting too much of your movement, with efficient routing you will have everyone freed in 2 turns or possibly in 1 if you go an extra mile, like crushers and longstrider which i forgot about. But once they are all free you just have to hold off very few of the spawning enemies (and the duke's infernal ambush if you broke wyll's pact) to hold off, the only big deals imo is that one woman which you need to waste an action to free and one of the first spawns of the champion variant of the enemies can, besides that its not that hard
Why would you want to save the Gondians? The Ironhand Gnomes reign supreme.
I just watched it after defeating him on tactian too. I have never played those type of games besides maybe DOS2 for couple of hours so I not only needed all of my companions but I also summoned 3 elementals and had freed Hope before so she assisted me as well. It still was not pretty at all cause I get sometimes very lost on the game mechanics but defeating him was so rewarding. I was curiouse if someone did it solo on tactician and low and behold here you are. It was very cool to see such a creative approach. Good job man!
Only downside is you miss out on the cool boss music
I did it again without running and got the full mad tunes rolling ruclips.net/video/gEopPmKHTEY/видео.html
This is the real final boss fight, as compared to that abomination that they call a final fight....lol
I had an easy time on this but the final fight was crazy. Not sure if you made different choices than me, but there are some things that make the final fight brutal.
@@Joe1549indeed, I barely won. two companions and Orpheus dead, the "allies" barely helped, really only to distract some enemies so that I could open up the portal but even then they were mostly ignored. I only won because I became an illithid and got an extra attack as a warlock
How i defeated Raphael...
Step 1: Put gloves of dexterity and haste on my caster with hold monster.
Step 2: Hope you are ahead of Raphael in turn order.
Step 3: Hold monster on Raphael.
Step 4: Run the caster of "hold monster" behind the double doors and close it.
Step 5: Kill the minions.
Step 6: Kill Raphael.
Put a Runepowder Barrel in the middle of the room, start first as rogue,.. BOOM , there goes 4 pillars. Evasion pass. Rest of party enters.
ive been so engrossed in either stealth killing or jumping in face 1st with a melee class that i didnt even consider you can kite some one to oblivion like in a moba thank you youve buffed my dabu/zugzug brain
Movement speed is the best stat haha
Throm'ka bruda
To be fair kiting only works for very specific classes/combos, and if you have no melee.
@@vilxxblack2472 ive since tested it out momentum + mobility feat with some thing like a dual wield or pole arm master for extra reach + thief based build seemed really viable not as optimal as dual had bow tho
Theoretically, this is the way to defeat a Tarrasque in tabletop D&D too. Can't squish what you can't catch!
The soundtrack is so freakin beautiful
i feel like the benny hill theme should be playing, this is hilarious
Ah yes... The one we've been waiting for
I did it again but without running here my friend! ruclips.net/video/gEopPmKHTEY/видео.html
Raphael and his goons showing up not noticing the 12 inconspicuous smokepowder barrels laid along the perimeter of the room and at the base each soul pillar
My first time in this fight i was like ohh this should be good. Then the music kicked in with raphaels singing and i was like, SHIT JUST GOT REAL!
I managed to get a nat 20 on Yugir helping me, he made the fight so much easier lol, he helps you later as well.
You can also complete his contract in the Sharran temple and he'll help you for doing him a solid no matter what you roll on the persuasion.
I found him pretty useless, during both fights he can help you in, he never hit anything, xD
your walk back to raphael after killing yurgir. slay
This is a lore question i thought about. Doesnt Raphael kind of screw himself by not waiting another 10 seconds before confronting your character? Sure, he has those soul pillar thingys but the House of Hope is in Baator... meaning if he dies there he dies for good.
If he waited 10 seconds for you to return to the material plane, then even if you kill him, he'd just reform in Baator after a while.
Hope does say that he screws up when he is angry, thats why she hints you to bring her along.
Pride is typical flaw for devils. Plus it's even reflected on how he has only 13 wisdom, despite every other stat being 20+
Raphael is just arrogant enough to believe there's no way he can lose.
There is no reason for him to believe he would of lost. He was in his realm, and he is extremely powerful.
He doesn't die, though. Through a magical ball you can see him being eaten by his father, so he somehow survives long enough for that to happen.
It’s crazy how much variation this game has
Every time you fell back, I imagined your character doing the Zoidberg “Whoop, Whoop, Whoop, Whoop” noise lol.
I could never do a full solo playthrough, too lonely, but my next character is definitely going to be a build like yours. Reminds me of a diablo 3 demon hunter just needs a spin to win ability.
Yeah I do feel like a demon hunter at this point
yurgir is the true final boss
This gives me PTSD from the rogue player in my games taking 13 turns to kill a single golem by moving away and shooting at it.
It's a damn good thing this game doesn't count arrow weight or you'd be out of ammunition around the 3rd cambion. 😂
3:34 - *Organ music stops abruptly*
this music theme is delicious! What a masterpiece.
The only downside of fighting like this: no cool evil villain bgm
My approach was to cast globe of invulnerability, get my group in there, then chuck the runepowder bomb right at Raphael’s head.
Destroyed all towers and half of the cambions in the first round. Then just spammed hopes divine intervention to kill the rest.
From there it was just kicking Raphael’s ass with no mobs lol
I think that was the funniest Persuasion Check I've ever seen.
This is basically what I did when I solo'd him
But I went and took a bath real quick lol
For her neutral special, she wields a gun
Damn, this is way more creative than I was. I just savescummed until one of my ghouls paralyzed him lol
Also if you convince Yurgir to join you and he survives the fight, he becomes available in the final sequence. I clutched a nat 20 on it without even having to save scum. He definitely came in handy with those poison knife attacks
That one on one fight against Raphael was epic. You are like Van Helsing with those crossbows
Bro walked in like he was the shit only to get 1v3d
i teleported out from the house, got to camp to take 40 barrels of smokepowder to bomb them, i don't know if it's a bug that there's an area where you can teleport
During my play thru, I guess I helped Yugir because I found the last rat guy he was looking for and told him Raphael tricked him. But failed the check in this instance, but he was still on my side in the fight and was there for me at the end.
I wish he acknowledged you were alone and just says "your skull" instead of "their skulls"
It implies that your character is not a single being, but several in one with the way they speak about you. "These insects"
I do have a worm in my brain
I am pretty sure any class can use the "shoot and run away" tactic. I was hoping for a unique strategy. :(
What "unique strategies" do you want him to do. Rogues aren't good in melee combat and if he just stood there he would've got over run. Like what do you want him to do, the cheesy meta builds?
Even Raphael calls you insects and them lmao but just yourself
this is the sickest boss music track ever tbh
Very cool, how you didn't use the elaborate Fighter archer build and did this legitely as full rogue.
Also, you were supposed to destroy the pillars. It weakens him when you destroy a pillar he consumed.
Oh okay, I didn't know any of his tactics as this was technically my first try against him as my first was to examine the area and stats.
@@vukobro3244 It just proves how your strategy and build is top notch, I only figured it out after 3 - 4 fails.
You can actually just have someone cast hold moster and profit, as long as concentration dont break ofc. Like that, 1 round fight for most parties.
Nice kiting!
5:40 when they are bunched up in that hallway it would be a sick time to drop an ice wall scroll.
a masterpiece rogue...
that was incredible! you gotta show yur build id love to use it in one of my future playthroughs! love the video man cant wait to see more!
Build here ruclips.net/video/Ay9qGnZQMy4/видео.html
Clicked so I could hear the song again
You can hear it without interuption in my other fight against him in the description
i honestly forgot i had the iron flask so i used that and the giants for help in this fight
I thought I was being clever by spreading out, using smokepowder bombs on the towers, and just spamming healing word on the one he was downing each turn. Is there a single fight in this game that can't be horribly cheesed?
Nope, all fights are cheesable
Round 1: fuck that i'm out
Sick run, watched the 'no running away' one as well. Have a similar setup but its my first ever playthrough so imma take it easy.
Can I ask on your reactions for off-hand attack. Why dont you use the Luck of the Far Realms?
I usually save it for sneak attack or a big attack as critical damage isn't double damage it's double dice rolled
this isn't even surprising to me, on my second playthrough all my characters were down or low after beating raphael... except astarion who was STILL AT MAX
Some Bad Assery right there
i too abused raphies love of his big pillars. only difference is i just full ran back to the hot tub, and took a soak, and kited them out a few at a time.
I knocked out Hopes sister. Hope then thanked me for not killing her.
lol it was anticlimactic even the boss music stop 😂
I did it better here ruclips.net/video/gEopPmKHTEY/видео.htmlsi=l3mBqm3GaZ3pAKul
People like to dunk on straight rogues but they really under value the defense power house that is evasion. Taking 0 damage from a fireball is BIG
never considered how effective kiting is in combat, and I thought rogues where useless, thanks for showing me how powerful rogues trully can be. I thought the only possible way a rogue could be good was multiclassing with a GloomStalker.
In my eyes rogues are the most powerful class in the game next to barbarians.
Rogues are quite powerful. AI mostly depends on line of sight. You get invisibility/misty step and some good gear, make sure that you maintain initiative, then you can basically run rings around your opponents. You deal so much extra damage from sneak attacks, it's pretty cool. I regularly team up my rogue with Astarion, taking shots from a distance, while using Lazael as a tank to distract enemies.
There's even a weapon called twist of fortune. This does extra damage depending on the amount of gold in your target's inventory. Go in stealth, reverse pickpocket/dump a shit ton of gold, and then one-shot your enemy. :)
@@redcoat8664 that's a cool strategy. I knew about the weapon but I'd didn't know you could put things into people's pockets. Im guessing you just drag it from your inventory into their pickpocket menu. Does it require a check or can you dump as much as you want? Would that mean you can over encumber your enemies ?
Good technique. I personally was a powerful wizard and I just casted Otto's Irresistible Dance - and dealth with all enemies with AOE
On my run i used 2 smokepowder barrels for pillar with karlak running in kamikaze mode bringing barrels but only after i noticed that the only thing they do is heal . I had plenty of denied heals arrow at the end that the fight was just easy . The only hard thing was keeping hope ailve 😅
What *that person* thinks their session of DnD is gonna be like if the dm just caves and let’s them do whatever they want:
I would not want to DM that sesh lol
A good strategy for my next playthrough and would have been a very good one in my current one
Respect!
That girlboss walk at the start said it all
not to toot my own horn but my group of 11 adventures all lvl 17 or higher (mods) beat him pretty easily.
I mean, if you had trouble with 11 lvl17 characters then I'd be worried.
i liked the video but i cant help but feel like solo play is just makes the fights unnecessarily long.
do you get more exp that way, do you do it for the challenge or the RP?
there no wrong way to play of course, its just not for me.
I do it for the challenge as the game is way too easy with a party of 4 characters.
i....cant believe this works, you can just run away lmfao
I did it again without running away here ruclips.net/video/gEopPmKHTEY/видео.html
@@vukobro3244 oh yea i saw that it just never crossed my mind you could just run away and kite them, hilarious lmao
Ita funny how he runs back and forth. He forgot to close the door lmao
Here I was wasting my time abusing stealth to solo with my thief instead of using the tried and true method of kiting like a level 39 hunter in WSG. I was using a lot of bloodlust elixer paired with speed pots, the way the ai sticks its thumb up it's ass when you go stealth and move 5 pixels away negates the lethargy turn and was even easier to abuse once I got illithid fly. Just respec to a potion wizard with high wis and medicine tagged when you do mass potion crafting sessions.
nicely done, especially fpr a second attemp. wp
Well, I liked as he/she crow-controlled the mobs. That was really nice piece of strategy. But Raphael himself? I don't get that... those four slopes could be destroyed in one or two rounds. And the rest would be much faster. While I did this full head-on with three party members heavily armed and armored, I appreciate the tactics in this video.
without force or bludgeoning damage the pillars take a second to bring down and then he gets a pretty OP AoE attack that would potentially cause issues for a solo player
bro i never knew kiting was a valid strategy in bg3
Yeah it's really easy to predict the AI's movement in this game
So you can just kite stuff in BG3...well consider my bacon burnt.
using poison against devils isn't exactly big brained.
I thought about doing this when I fought them but I didn’t think it would work
D3 demon hunter lol! Congrats! Love it!
how did Raphael not ever transform into his true form? In my fight he transform every 2 turns ... in yours hej just stood there and got dpsed down.
I'm not sure? Is it because I didn't kill the pillars?
@@vukobro3244 maybe.... i did kill the pillars. But in the description it says... in so many turns he will transform...and when he sucks the souls its to transform longer and more times if im not mistaken.
He will only transform if you destroy the pillars
ah, so you adopted the Joestar secret technique.
To the untrained eye it looks cowardly. Little do they know it's all just a secret technique.
I had wyll hold beast on raphael and my paladin walked up to raph and killed him in 2 turns lmao ez I wonder if its harder on tactician
Would probably be the same on tactician as the strat you used is the one of the most powerful.
LoL. Arena doors are open in such battle. Larian whats wrong with you🤣?
Gotta love that they mention Karsus in his dialogue: Karsus was the ruler of a kingdom in the ancient past and the most powerful of mages who used magic to try and become the god of magic by overthrowing Mystra, and in the attempt absolutely demolished the magic-based civilization that once ruled the world. It turns out that trying to use magic to overthrow the goddess of magic disrupted magic everywhere, and the one fatal flaw floating cities have is magic being turned off, even for a moment.
Karsus and his story are HUGE part of the main BG3 plot as well as one of the companions. Saying anything beyond that would be a spoiler, but it's not just a lore drop, it's much, MUCH more.
@@Mordring Oh, I know, I just like how they use the past history of the world in place of parables and stories we'd use in the real world. The fate of Karsus is a great stand-in for the story of Icarus, but instead of it just being a kid who got too happy flying and went too close to the sun that people have twisted over centuries into a story of arrogance and hubris, Karsus was that arrogant and full of himself from the start.
The man's arrogance cannot be understated. Not to make a lore dump, but Karsus literally heard a prophecy that Mystra was going to soon face a threat so severe it would change how his people saw magic forever and genuinely thought that if he was the god of magic instead, he'd be better suited for dealing with the threat than a literal god. And the spell he made to achieve apotheosis was named "Karsus' Avatar", because the only name worthy of the most powerful spell ever cast had to be his own.
@@Mordringwell yeah the crown of Karsus that was stolen from the house of hope is used by the three main antagonist to control the elder brain
Impressive
Why is the picture quality so high? ! It’s almost like there’s a 0.5-1 generation difference in graphics compared to what I’m playing.
Not sure. I play on max graphics.
Madness! You get three attacks then you can still dash like 50 m?? Nerf Rogues.
my fav fight in the game music was bad ass
Wow, I don't even though that was possible, can we see your build? It's similar to mine but I multiclassed with rogue ranger and fighter.
I'm about to try my solo monk vs Raphael. Wish me luck
I must be doing something wrong 😂 i consistently did 9 damage to him throughout the fight. My build must be trash lol
Yeah 9 damage isnt much haha
Uhhh this is on story difficulty here you sneeze and everything around you turns to dust lol
Na it's on Tactician bro
Amazing ! How did you get so many savings in his HK spells?
My shield gives advantage on spell saves and I have high af dex

But seeing you actually take him down alone was really epic !
Thanks man
would love this class setup
Pure thief rogue. Check out my gear videos
I struggled on this fight with a party of 4 the first time. I ended up winning by having karlach pick him up and throw him against the pillars to break them, it made me laugh and reminded me of hulk and lokey in stark tower, xD
Also...what is your character wearing? She looks awesome.
Will in fact be using this strategy on my next playthrough lol
