Mike, your videos are genuinely better than most of the Masterclass classes with professional chefs. Thanks for all you do, man. I’ve learned a ton from your videos over the years
His videos are realistic and tailored to everyday people, whereas anything by Gordon Ramsay is more tailored to those who have a very large budget and/or spent years at Le Cordon Bleu school.
You are such a good cook. I’m 63 and have been cooking for a good many years, so I know a natural cook when I see one. I really love the way you have a beautiful sense of balance. You have something for everyone. Extremely well done. ☮️💕
Fun fact about matcha: it also contains L-Theanine which essentially counteracts a lot of the jittery effects of caffeine, so it’s great for those who are sensitive to caffeine!
I can contest to that...no more jitters. I cut out coffee a few weeks ago and now enjoy my 2 cups a day of matcha. I add a couple pinches of stevia, a few drops of vanilla extract, and drink it over ice. Totally decreases the bitterness.
Yerba maté is a good, cheaper alternative than matcha which tends to be super expensive. It's higher in antioxidants than green tea, and higher in caffeine (matein) than both green tea and matcha, but due it's composition it doesn't give you the jitters like coffee may do. Also maté can be re-steeped and reused *a lot* of times, unlike green tea or matcha. It's overall the more accessible and budget friendly option, best replacement for coffee, and way healthier than green tea.
I grew up watching Good Eats with Alton Brown. Honestly, watching your videos as an adult gives me the same feeling as watching that show as a child. Keep it up! I am completely loving your content.
Good comparison! I didn't see it at first but you are so right, it's not about what he is making but what he says, He gives you the info you need to make it own.
I love how you didn’t shame yourself for the sweets or really anything. You intuitively listened to your body and nourished it. Love these healthier snack options!
Love the sponsorship on this vid man! People have little to no issue seeing a physical health doctor, but struggle to see one for their mental health. That's an important message to get out there and it's great seeing it brought up here.
I’d be interested to find out “how to freestyle a baked good”! Like.. which baked goods can be free style with minimal ingredients? How do we know what makes it light vs dense, low sugar etc.
If you’re interested in that, you might want to check out the book “Lateral Cooking”. The author gives blueprints for many foods (e.g. what ratios are roughly needed, where can and can’t you change things around) plus showing examples of how to vary and adapt and how you go from one type of recipe to the next. I found it really helpful for learning to improvise
With time and practice! I cook soups all the time and I learn something knew almost every other soup (I wing it) I used to follow recipes to the T but it kept me out of the kitchen because I wouldn’t like it so I must be a terrible cook but when I’m winging it if I don’t like it I have motivation to get back into the kitchen to ‘perfect’ my craft! It’s very relaxing and extremely replenishing when you can share it with friends and family and see the gaze of aws from a great home cooked meal!!!
This mine 1 - water 2 - brewed chai 3 - fruit or oats with fruit 4 - lunch, sandwiches, leftover vegetables, bean veggies, lentils with either rice or roti 5 - light snack whatever is there with some tea at 4:30 6 - nice big dinner, could be anything lmao
The best part about meal prep is you soon forget the effort put into it, but you never forget all the food quickly available in the fridge when you're hungry NOW. 👍
been watching u since the brothers green, and as a fashion design major living in the city last year was really tough especially food wise. I’m really proud to say how rarely i go out just as a result of how much i love my food! This video is such a great example of why cooking for yourself can be fun, healthy, and to me most importantly fulfilling. Thanks for all this content over the years and hope you’re doing well!
"Being a pro home cook is all about showing up in the kitchen, getting creative with what you have, and providing for yourself and the people around you" so good!
been watching this channel like 5 years or more I grew up so much & learned even more always reminding me that's cooking is all about giving love & care Thank you so much ❤❤
Loving this new video format Mike, wasn't sure how Pro Home Cooks was going to differentiate itself from Brothers Green, but these themed recipe compilations are great, I never use everything, but there's always something great and useful in each video.
I love the little "disclaimer" at the end. I feel like I have a very similar approach to food, I would LOVE to eat like this everyday, everything healthy and made from scratch, but it's just not realistic. I really appreciate the reminder that this is more like an aspiration, and that incorporating something like this in your diet at least for part of the meals is already a win!
Your videos are so wholesome ! I have been showing up for myself - cooking wise quite consistently, am definitely going to make that coconut curry. Thanks for the inspiration !
I thoroughly enjoyed this vid. Every dish/creation is something that I would prepare independently or as part of an entire meal plan. I haven't gotten into kombucha but have always wanted to. Your ginger peach drink looks delicious and makes me want to start my kombucha journey. Everything was spot on. Kudos!
People, try those energy balls. I struggled a lot making them on my "smoothie bullet" since I don't have a food processor but in the end it was totally worth it. They are AMAZING!
So inspiring! Now I'm hungry hungry hungry! It'd also be fun to see your take on how to eat well on a very small budget. I like seeing those videos on eating on $10/week or some other amount many people would consider low.
For me and mine as far as the dinner bit we tend to make a meal list of dinners for the week. We found it cut down on waste and helped with our grocery budget also if we know we are going to have x for dinner the night before we can either have it for lunch or twist it into a new lunch the next day.
Love the videos. Great motivation and inspiration. I would really love if you could mention how long you can save and store some of the things you make or prep.
You have an interesting channel and I like your kitchen and I like water with citrus fruits in the morning, I also do it because I'm staying here for more videos, thank you very much for sharing
This is an awesome meal prep. Even for an athlete, which I am. I'm gonna give this a go. Only difference is I'll add a mid morning bowl of protein protein shake post workout. Can't wait to try the pancakes! Thank you so much
This video/finding your channel has literally changed my life, thank you! I’m wondering for the pancakes if you can use the same ratio to make muffins? And could you do a video/point me to a video where you do some of your free-style muffin recipes?
wow - this is the best! super informative, creative, well communicated, organized, efficient, fast, detailed, GREAT editing. really love the content and appreciate these videos SO MUCH!!! thank you thank you thank you!! no doubt this all takes a lot of effort, planning, time, and love of health and cooking. peace!
I’ve made the curry recipe and it was sooo good! Thanks for sharing the curry paste technique. made mine with fresh turmeric. I wish I could attach the pic!
Mike, I just love love love your videos! It inspires me to get cooking and provide for my family. I tried the date snack and hmm, how do I put this, the balls were not even close to spheres. 😂
B vitamins are cofactors for a lot of metabolic processes, so you have more of the other components that help enzymes turn sugar into "fuel". Basically like changing spark plugs to help process gas better. (re: 13:12)
I love watching your videos. They are always enjoyable, easy to watch, and inspiring! Thanks for all your hard work. I know this may be an odd request and even out of your wheelhouse, but would it be possible to get a video like this or like your quick dinner videos in which you show us how to cook for a large family? I'm talking 8-10 servings.
Can't wait to try the energy balls, I had made some with date paste, but every recipe I found added chocolate or peanut butter and they turned out a little too sweet for my taste, I'm definitely one for salty snacks!
I love the date balls....everything else too..lol. I can always tell exactly what time it is when that mid afternoon slump hits me...3pm. Lol. Great vid. Thanks.
Your food always looks so good to me! My favorite restaurant makes a tofu brah bowl. (Tofu in spicy peanut sauce, slaw, sticy rice😛) Can you teach us how to get the sticky crunchy carmelization on the outside of tofu?
The energy snack balls you made are considered popular snack with Arabic coffee in my region *Peninsula of Arabia * especially in my city Buraydah where is the most delicious date is produce (you can search world’s largest date market) 🤤♥️ small tip though you should try it with tehini souse instead of the orange and try roasting the coconut shreds 😩💘 oh gosh I’m gonna make it right now 💃🏻
I was always thinking about how hard it is to become a master/professional using the 10,000 hours rule, but honestly I think I am a master in watching RUclips video's after all these years.
Wow, Last video I saw of you a few years ago was when you were getting stoned with your buddy in your tiny apartment, teaching my broke 13 year old ass how to make food basics. Now Im 18, have had 2 cooking jobs so far, and your inside a beautiful home with 3 million subscribers and a new channel look entirely. I dont know you on a personal level but you helped me alot growing up and Im really proud of how far you came.
Mike, your videos are genuinely better than most of the Masterclass classes with professional chefs. Thanks for all you do, man. I’ve learned a ton from your videos over the years
True, chefs conceal a lot of details. Make it look like magic trick. I don't like tricks, I like simple stuff.

I've picked up so many tips from him.
@@mholtebeck so have I.
"I just use whatever I have in my pantry" *has literally everything in his pantry

I died when he showed his tea drawer. 🤣

This is also in green tea generally, no need to make it matcha specifically.

Very much agree. I like meal prepping lots of side dishes and proteins, then combine them in various ways.

1 - water
2 - brewed chai
