  • Hello everyone... Today I started my project "stock" Clod...
What does project "stock" Clod mean?? Its a stock Clod chassis, gear boxes suspension and so on... I did put a spool in the rear gearbox and I am putting in Castle Creations Copperhead ESC's & 4600kv brushless motors.. And as with just about every Tamiya kits, I put in a full set of bearings..
Madmustang RC just posted a Clod rebuild video and I figured I needed to get my butt in gear... Sorry Kevin, this isn't my race Clod and after the runs, stock gear is going back in...
As I said, it's going brushless for a little while Hopefully, this will be Pete Wylie approved!!!!
It's by far from a "BASHER" RTR and it's not meant to be one..
    Parts being used/used..
Castle Creations 1/10 Copperhead 1406-4600Kv Sensored Brushless ESC/Motor Combo, CSE10016601
Hot Racing CB1025X Clod Buster Diff Spool Gear
Fast Eddy Tamiya Super Clod Buster Sealed Bearing Kit
    PART #TFE1870
If you haven't already, Please go check out...
    MadMustang RC
    &
    Pete Wylie RC
These 2 guys have all kinds of stuff you might like... From hard core spped runs and bashing, to fixing issues to painting, something for everyone... While your at, give them a Sub and like the videos... It's all free to you.
Thanks for Watching and keep an eye for this project.....

Hey Uncle Bob, glad to see that there was no water damage inside the gearbox. Can't wait to see the Clod running on that Castle motor. Take care and stay safe

Hi there Bob, great to see you working on the Clod, definitely we can tell you know your way around that chassis! Lots of good advice here mate! Good news on no water ingress. Traxass - cough cough! 🤣🤣 This Clod should go like the clappers mate! Fingers crossed! Take care dude and I know Pete Wylie does approve! 😅😁👌👍

Hi buddy... To be honest, It's because of Rob beating me to the punch on a Brushless Clod... I have always wanted to try it but never took the plunge, till now... Part 2 will show a few more things and then putting in the second motor and maybe even a test run...As for speed, not sure how that will go, I seen Clods on 5700kv motors and they move really good... I'm shocked no water got into the gear box, I don't seal them like you do..

Hey Bob, lovely to hear you and some super stories to go along with some great RC maintenance, upgrades on the Clod. Cough, cough….Traxxas 😂😂 absolutely true most Tamiya’s are like you say, RC models 😊😊enjoyed listening to you, I hope that you and the family, are keeping well. Best wishes to you all 😊😊

Hey John!!!!! How the hell are you??? Rock Socker is coming along great mate!!! This will be my first ever brushless Clod and itching to see how it works out. However, I'm not changing the suspension or the chassis, hence "Stock" Clod.. I'm thinking new tires (tyres) so I can get a bit more traction... Then, It's going back to stock... Doing this cause I always wanted to, then I seen Rob do his (with a few issues), however, $400 to $500 for motors & ESC's cost mre than the kit even if you toss in bearings.

Thank you for sharing. Subscribed! I'm looking forward to the build. I myself Am building three different types of Clodbusters, one I call a resto-mod (basically stockish build with the exception of the ESC) of a vintage Clod, one with extended suspension links, and the third will be running on brushless motors powered by a 3S LiPo.

Hey we can do a Monster Truck Drag Race but that will be after I try this with a "stock" Clod & put this stuff in the race Clod... LOL Time to play with that timing tree and work out the bugs (I know, most likely the reflectors).

Hey Addam!!!! I ran it few times after it went "swimming" and after I tossed it in the tub to wash all that canal slim & stink off of it.. I was shocked that the inside of the gear box was dry as a popcorn fart... Gears look great, bearings spin freely.... I am a bit surprised no one said a word about the spool I put in it.. LOL

Great to see you back Bob!
Cool video mate..... and I'm pretty sure Pete Wylie will definitely approve!
I couldn't possibly imagine running a clod on that sort of power.... but am certainly looking forward to seeing it in action!
Being an older clod I'm wondering how those plastics will hold up to all that power, especially with all that weight!
I found the gear box casings and hubs particularly on my vintage sassy chassis Clod have got ultra brittle!
Great to see the water from that s**t ditch didn't penetrate the gearboxes.... does it still smell bad from it's swim? 🤔 😂
Always enjoy hearing your Clod stories from back in the day, Clod racing sounds heaps of fun!
Like you say, Tamiyas are first and foremost 'models' that can be driven..... but it sure is fun pushing the boundaries and seeing how far you can push them!
    Great stuff buddy! 👍 👍 👍

Right on mate... This isn't that old of a kit, less than 8 years so the plastics are still fine.. In part 2 of this "build" I'll go into more of a reason why I'm going brushless but lets just say a crazy Britt with a crash test squirrel did it to his and I NEVER did it to a Clod. My main goal is to show that even with stock gearing and good brushless systems, a Clod can move... I hope. I found out many years ago, @ 1992 that Clods floated, drive mine off a loading dock into @ 3 or 4 feet of water, it did sink cause the wheels were not sealed, live & learn, the last time I floated one was in our pool (controlled environment). Ran in rain & snow before too, no water proof electrics back then, ever since then, I don't run in the elements.

I think you'll find most of us Brits are a little bit crazy mate!! 😂
Oh yeah, I saw Robs fast clod video with Shoeburt..... all I can say is it's a good job he had that shiny red helmet for protection! 😂 🐿️
I did think that clod of yours wasn't too ancient due to the blue plastics denoting it to be a super clod.
Sounds as though you have tried all manner of clod water sports in your time mate.... all good fun!
Should be great seeing it run on brushless power though fella!

@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC If ya ain't a little bit crazy then there is something wrong with you... Yeah poor Rob had two different motor's in his Clod... I watched your Sassy Clod violate the General video again yesterday.. I had my share of Clods running in all kinds of stuff and I used all kinds of parts but never had a Sassy Chassis... I started with ESP chassis and had every one they made, then I went to Thunder Tech Racing Ripper Chassis and now a TTR Ripper Pro chassis. I also use a stock Clod, well stockish... LOL

Yeah man, so many different chassis upgrades available for this monster!
I do love the Sassy chassis, even though it is a bit outdated now..... and bloody heavy!
Cheers for re watching that video mate...... It started off slow, but is really pulling in some good viewing figures now.
As I said before, that ones more of a display piece,I have got a super clod kit yet to built as a 'runner'..... but, oh that front end 4x4x4 on the re re.....
      Kinda kills it for me.
When it finally gets built I will go down the aftermarket 3d printed bow tie grill route, there's now way I'm using that re re nonsense! 😂

@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC I hate the 4x4x4 grills, I cant fu@king stand them... The Black grills do look ok... They could have just went plain like on the 2nd gen Clods... I'm sure you know to get bearings and steel, 32 pitch, 13 tooth pinions.. Agree a 3D printed grill is a better option but they do look like shit and tough to paint without looking like the moon. I seen a guy grind out the 4x4x4 on a stock grill that looked good but that's a lot of long work...
