Hidden Gems in Manila, Incredible Value: Traditional Lechon, Street Food, and a Crispy Catfish!

- Really enjoyed the time in the Philippines and the best way to connect with friends is over a meal or two (or three or four). And that's exactly what I got to do! From the classic inexpensive street food to a traditional Filipino dinner with the great Lechon, Crispy Pata, and the giant crispy catfish, we were stuffed, but always room for dessert.
And that took us to the Filipinos Legendary Bakery for desserts! The classic ensaymada certainly didn't disappoint. Thank you for joining!

“That’s not tea,that’s vinegar!”😆 Learned my lesson the hard way as well eating in a Vietnamese restaurant. Gave me what looked like the free broth in every meal,it was in a little soup cup so without checking,took a sip..lo and behold,it was the fish sauce!😂

Filipinos love to eat and Filipino moms love to stuff you. You walk away feeling like a Thanksgiving Day turkey…STUFFED!! We loved watching your experiences trying the amazing foods that the Philippines has to offer at the various buffets and cafes in all your recent videos in the Philippines. Vegetables are a very rare sight in Filipino food. Meats, sugar, lots of vinegar, and anything deep-fried and cooked to a mush abound.
I did notice a lot of deep fried crispy meats etc
I had a High School Teacher who wants told us you treat and smile the cafeteria workers,janitorial with respect and a smile. Someday the person may be your boss. I'm in my 60,'s and never forget the advice

14:00 - i went to my local international Lotte’ market, in chantilly va, one day and saw the shrimp chips and could not stop eating them.

Hi Tim, the "tortilla" is actually called Tortang Talong😂 Its traditionally roasted eggplants topped with sauteed meat & dipped in egg then fried

Those prawn crackers are called Krupuk. Now it is hard to find goods with lots of prawn flavor. Thet seem to be scrimping on the prawns.

LOL, that is an eggplant omelette called (Tortang Talong), it's not a tortilla. By the way, aside from the Spanish name, I'm not sure if it's actually a Spanish influence. Do they have eggplant omelettes in Spain?... That's like saying that (Ceviche) is of Spanish origin because it has a Spanish name, when in reality it's an indigenous pre-colonial Peruvian dish that lost its original name. The same goes for Philippine adobo, the name is Spanish but the dish is indigenous and simply lost its original name.
I knew that about ceviche that it was Peruvian and origin.. I found that out in the streets of Miami at the time out cafe. Funny what one can learn when touring a food stand 🙂
