Can't believe how this district transformed. Flashbacks of Alba and the old Insular Bakery as a little kid, passing by the old American Sports at the corner of Polaris street. There were still residences back then before Handle Bar, Heckle & Jeckle and the likes of 'em. Rockwell was literally a powerplant back then. And suddenly, everything changed. We changed, too, from teens to adults to --well, aged millenials. Sigh, I miss those carefree days. I'd like to revisit the place, but I'll stick to virtual tours for now. Thanks for taking us back, Erwan...
MAAAAN what a masterpiece! Congrats to the whole FEATR team for creating this! sobrang ganda lalo na ung ending, with the piano playing by Fe and the people being asked what they think Poblacion would be in the next 5 years. Everyone is represented in the community! I love it! bitin ung 1 hour!
I'm so happy I was able to hear Mass two times when I was there in Makati. I heard the first Mass in English and on my birthday, I heard Mass in Tagalog. Now that I'm back in Canada, I am so happy to watch this. It feels like I'm still there walking the streets of Poblacion. My sister lives in front of the Pamilihang Bayan ng Poblacion or the Poblacion Market. I enjoyed watching this. God bless you and your team Erwan. Take care!
I don’t know how to start to thank you for the excellent presentation of Poblacion Makati in as much as I enjoyed watching your other videos and have yet to watch the rest. I spent the best early part of my twenties as a young adult fresh from college years in the area. Your various highlights in this video do bring back pleasant memories. I truly hope and wish that you will continue the great job that you are doing and I feel truly proud of you guys. I congratulate you all members of the Featr Team for this excellent work. I left Makati in 1981 and have never been back (yet) to revisit. Now that I start looking back as a 74-year old retiree to my youthful years, I find this video to be a delightful refreshing journey for me. Please continue the great job and I look forward to watching more of your forthcoming videos. Thank you. Nick S from Vancouver
Poblacion is special to me and my family. I spent the better part of my adult life in Hulo which is right across the river. My daughters studied in St. Paul of Makati College. I used to explore the small streets while waiting for them to finish their class. We moved away 6 months ago and I miss being so near that area.
This is such a nice documentary that highlights the many sides and facets of Poblacion, introducing it as not just a place that is brought alive when the sun goes down, but also a barangay rich in heritage and culture and a sense of pride in their community. With that said, I envy the people of Poblacion's pride in their community. I reside in Pitogo, a former barangay in Makati which was abruptly taken and is now part of Taguig. I wish I can be as proud of the place I grew up in as that of people in Poblacion, but how can we when we don't even know which city we're in. It's hard to foster a sense of community when the city you grew up in suddenly disowned you without even consulting us, the people.
I am a Chabacano from Zamboanga City and worked in Makati for a few years and rented there also. I felt at home, and neighbors around me look after each other and are very welcoming. My dad who used to frequent Manila for work reasons stay in Makati too and have made friends. We love Makati. I treat it as my second home and I will always have good and warm memories of it. It makes me feel like I'm back home - the way people relate to each other is the same. I'd love to move there and stay there for good.
that party spot above Tambai was the first iteration of Kampai! man that takes me back. great stuff as always! as DJ, Pob's been a huge part of my life and I'm glad to see people tell stories about it.
Thankyou Featr Sir Erwan for sharing to us the history of Makati and of Polacion(population).nakakatuwa pakinggan ang kwento ni Nanay..tumira ako dati sa Cembo naman from 1995-2007..
A love letter to Burgos and Poblacion, definitely brought back some great memories for me, love how the place keeps on evolving and thriving somewhat into another iteration that gives unforgettable magical experience to people searching for authenticity. Your best one yet Erwan and Featr
I used to live out in Poblacion for a couple years, I have fond memories of walking the street at midnight seeing the nightlife, drinking a few beers, watching all the drama and the breakups, and to wait around til Insular Bakery opens up and buying a bag full of pandesal. Seems like a fever dream now but it was fun and memorable time for me.
Gosh I just spend there few weeks (now back in Europe) wished I saw this earlier, such great restaurant and cocktail bars. Will find these places next time! Thanks po for this wonderful video, well done!!!
I watch a lot of RUclips vids, especially about food and travel. And this is one of the best I've watched in terms of the storytelling and production. Really well done 🙌🏽 Nice timing too for some recs for my upcoming trip to Manila. And lastly, inspiring to me to try and figure out how to include more storytelling in my own work.
Growing up in QC and now based abroad, I've never heard of Insular Bakery. Next time when I stay in Makati I'll search for that business and indulge in my favourite ensaymada, old style- no cheese.
I hope that Poblacion Makati doesn't end up like Malate was in the 90s. Malate used to be known for its high-end partying and nightlife in Metro Manila, but it went downhill because of political issues. I hope Poblacion can avoid the same fate as Malate, without any political interference or illegal activities.
I hope not too. but probably not because most of the restaurant and bar owners are from middle-upper and upper class. A “fine dining” restaurant just opened and more modern establishments are opening. There are still affordable areas that look the same, but you can definitely tell it’s going to change to since the prices are increasing for the new market.
Burgos is the street. Poblacion is the barangay. The popularity and the restos expanded through the barangay hence the change in what it is called. Burgos is still there and mostly known as the Makati's red light district.
My sister and my Mother's Assistant and her daughter and I ate at Filling Station. We enjoyed the experience. Chuckie the evil doll welcomed me by scaring me.
Grew up in Makati and Yes now Poblacion we call it Burgos back in the day as in mid 1990s I can only count on my left hand fingers the strip club in Red Light Burgos 😜 When I repatriated in 2017 and stayed at Z Hostel I dont recognize the village anymore. Dwayne is a Sangguniang Kabataan batchmate ☺

love how each owner naturally introduces the next spot, really shows how close-knit the community is.
This is a nice love letter to Poblacion.

So happy this highlighted the establishments and the hard work they've been doing :)

I spent my high school years in Poblacion -- 20 years ago. 😂
My watering hole for lunch and night life when I was a corporate zombie in the 90s to early 2000s.

Dwayne Samarista Poblacion in Spanish means town or settlement not people or population.
bro what does your wife say about the tache? 😜
Party place na ng mga Gen Z and Millenials ang Poblacion. Di na lang sya red light district.
Watching your video makes me dizzy! Slow it down bro.. Quit changing pictures so fast...
