- In this video work on a 95 Jeep yj. we replace the lift shackles, exhaust pipe, diagnose the fuel gauge problem, and change the tires.
I attribute my successes to god and give him the glory.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of god: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which god hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8-10) Авто/Мото
Glad you’re letting daughter do some of the work, then she has a better appreciation of what’s involved to repair vehicles, plus valuable lessons learned.
The best way to learn about your vehicle is to take it apart and put it back together. I try and give the shortcut information but some things you need to do to get.
Good video is also good to see your daughter involved with you working on the jeep keep up the good work keep her involved.
Thank you. It’s much easier having an assistant.
Excellent. I appreciate both your daughter and yourself, Sir. She will always be a capable young woman with your guidance.
Thank you, I appreciate that. It’s people like you with your supportive comments that make me want to keep making videos.
Awesome seeing other people getting their kids involved in vehicle repair. Props to Her for getting involved too, most kids now are too lazy. Or just don't care! And explaining why not to do crazy cosmetic changes when the vehicle bones can't handle it. None the less great video as always and you both keep up the great work!
Thank you sir, I actually got a pretty good sun burn from the welder. It was part of the deal to get the Jeep that she had to do the work on it if she wanted it. I find the best way to learn is to get in there and do it.
@@JasonTheMunicipalMechanic Absolutely! It will help her appreciate you as well as the vehicle!
The silly things people (former owners) do
Great Video!
I know what you mean. thank you.
I bought a '80 Eagle in -87 (blown motor) and had to do the same thing. Un-Jeep that Jeep Eagle. Was able to grab a trunk full of parts when AMC was going under. Sold the project for a grand profit of $150 bucks. Should have just kept that damn thing and I'd be shitting in high cotton today.
I got a bunch of body parts from a guy when I was as building mine and he had one of those golden eagles.
Nicely done you two! Your daughter seems to enjoy this work. Good vehicle to learn on.
Thank you. She wants to be a mechanic.
Another interesting video. Thanks.
😯 awesome
I have 32 inch tires on my Jeep YJ. It has no problem pulling 5th gear. Mine also has a 4 cylinder in it. If you have a problem pulling 5th gear it maybe your transmission, not the tires.
It had 35 inch tires on it. It was better with the smaller tires.
Like the changes, it still looks like it is lifted some.
Yeah it has lift springs in it. It still has a vibration from the drive shaft, but the only way to get rid of it is to get lower lift springs or a slip yoke eliminator and a double cardan driveshaft. Neither of which is very cheap. I guess it just has too much lift in it still.
lol tens of people good stuff hello from revere mass
Thank you. Hey I once had to make a delivery of drywall to revere. It was my first day and the guy That was training me had me on the highway and there was this bridge that was marked around 13 feet and most of the boom trucks were 13’6”. So I asked the guy how tall the truck was and he said he didn’t know 😳. We fit so that was good.
I resemble that remark.
Don’t worry your in the 10’s club. 😁
The jeep looks pretty good all in all. It ought to have more gumption with those shorter tires.
For the most part it’s in good shape.....aside from what the previous owner did to it. Those tires were a bit too big for that engine. It is better now.
Those leaf springs have a really big arch to them, that could also be affecting the angle of the drive shaft too. I have a YJ with stock leaf springs that I just replaced, and they don't have that big of an arch. I also recommend getting rid of the 4x4 vacuum system and replace it with the Posi-Lok system, easy upgrade too. Nice YJ btw.
I think your right, the springs are lift springs too. It’s one of those things that get expensive either way you go. To go back to stock it would require different springs and to keep going it needs a slip yoke eliminator and a different drive shaft. It still has some vibration. It’s a little better but not very good.
@@JasonTheMunicipalMechanic Yeah, either option would cost about the same lol. They also make Transfer Case drop kits that are a cheaper option.
I totally forgot of a transfer case drop. Thank you. Ill look to see if one will get it lined up better.
@@JasonTheMunicipalMechanic No problem!
That's not a dog that's a Chupacabra! Ha, great video!
Haha I had to look that up. I see the resemblance.
His teeth aren't big enough LOL.
Cool dogo
Great video. I love seeing you and your daughter working on stuff. I have my daughter doing the repairs on her vehicle when it is needed. What breed is your wife’s dog😂
Thank you. We had to change the rear brakes last week but I didn’t record it. Showing her how to do it should save her some money. It is a chihuahua.
@@JasonTheMunicipalMechanic This upcoming week I will be teaching my son and daughter how to replace rear brake shoes and drums on his 2000 Camry. I bought new shoes, drums and hardware kit so the should be in for a good time😂. My wife and I love small dogs.
I like to take pictures when I start and as I go so I can refer to them if I need to later. My memory is starting to surprise me lately, I just can’t remember things as well anymore.
👍
Great video Jason. It won't be long before your daughter is showing you how to do stuff lol
Thank you. I don’t doubt that she’s been working at a dealership so she will see the new tech coming out.
What about the Dodge? Did the frame get sand-blasted yet?
It has not. I’ve been trying to find a southern frame instead. I’m on my third salvage yard to try and get one from. The first one still has me waiting from a month ago for photos and the second one took a deposit and had to refund me 5 days later because they didn’t actually have it. I’m waiting on a third place in North Carolina to get some photos, if they even have one. A lot of my concern is getting it inspected for a replacement vin and not being able to get the numbers off the frame if I sand blast and paint it. This is my last try though, if they don’t have it I’m going to just go ahead and paint this frame. It will actually be more to sand blast and paint this frame then to get a southern one so that’s why I’m trying to just get another one.
@@JasonTheMunicipalMechanic Wow, so much effort 😱
The existing frame didn't appear beyond rescue. Fingers crossed you can find a workable solution that doesn't break the bank..
I’m on my way back from North Carolina right now with a frame for the dodge.
@@JasonTheMunicipalMechanic Let me know if you need me to do some running around for you. I'm in SC so I can hit a lot of places on the weekends if you need something specific.
Thank you. I appreciate the offer. I’ll keep that in mind next time I’m looking for something. I was using the car part app but I don’t know how long the parts were listed before I came across them. Thank you.
So was the de jeeping your idea or hers
It was mine
Thought sound sounded like it
You should have went with 33 tires. Though I have 31s. But my lift is 1 1/2, Superlift. It looks balanced.
These tires were used and came with the wheels all powder coated for a pretty good price. It was more a cost thing, and I didn’t think it was going to sit so high after removing the shackles either.
I bought a 95 YJ 4 banger that came with 33’s. I want to go down to 31” to get better road speed in 5th gear
That’s basically what we did with this Jeep. It had 35 inch tire and I think they were 14 wide, but it wouldn’t accelerate in 5th at all on flat ground. It’s alright off road but your going 45-50 on road. I had a cj7 years ago but it had a amc 360 in it so tire size wasn’t a problem.
2.5 should have 4.10s stock. No so bad especially if you might stick a 4.0 in later.
I hear you. It could definitely use some 4.10s.
