The 2024 Kawasaki Z900 is up against the 2024 Yamaha MT-09. Which one are you choosing ? Let us know in the comments below. #mt09 #z900 #streetbikes #900cc #vs #fyp
I had a 2023 MT-09 and my buddy still has his Z900. Stock for stock the Z900 annoyingly pulled on me. Apparently the Z900 actually lets you get 100% throttle in its gears from the factory tube while the MT-09 doesn’t. Once I had my bike modded/flashed it obviously was a different story but don’t sleep on either bike. They are both bad ass!
Ridden both, and i got the mt09, way more fun and all the electronics you want/need + best sound! 3 cylinder ❤ the mt 09 in grey looks way better and in real even better
He got the weight wrong as the 2024 is about 9 - 11 lbs heavier than the previous year -- unless, the new SP model is the only one that gained the extra weight, which doesn't seem likely.
What about tech between the bikes, like Yammy's 6 axis IMU vs only one way traction control (no lean traction control) and a slipper clutch for the Kawi? No mention on the money to buy one of these beasts? Z900 - $10,199 (Kawi web site no longer lists any shipping costs but it used to be like $450 plus surcharge of a couple of hundred bucks) the MT09: $10,599 plus $575 "destinstion charge" no mention of any surcharge now. I think it's built in now bc freight was never quite that high before. So for this example, you're out about $500 - $650 more for the latest control tech, cruise control, quick shifter, mostly fully adjustable front forks and most importantly, a way lighter bike. If Kawi would put the Z on a good diet, add some tech gadgetry and charge $600 - $800 more....maybe be tough competition? That's a tall order for a manufacturer and not so sure Kawi would sell that many more Z900's to make it profitable. You also have the likes of Honda, Kawi, and Suzuki selling their liter class naked bikes at pretty competative prices that are a step or 2 faster than the Z900 and about the same weight, which surprises me. You also now have the 990 Duke, super light too, very strong twin, tho at $12,500 plus destination charges(no indication of what those charges are on their web site but you can figure around $500 - $600), is a lot more money. Oh yeah, don't forget the sales tax too. Here in Tx it's 8.25% Which can throw up to another grand or more on the tab for these bikes. Motorcycle riding is no longer a cheap hobby, but what is anymore? Should we mention another budget buster here - insurance - yikes! I gotta get moved first but I'm lining up to buy one of these bikes - most likely the MT09. I've been jonesing for one since 2019 but it just wasn''t quite right....little stuff but still kept me away and looking. Now with the changes for 2024.....it's perfect!
I have 2022 MT09 I bought new. Thousands of miles later and I still believe the MT09 is without question the best bike in the mid size market. I have only one complaint with my 2022 model, cruise control was not available until the 24 model year. I installed a Kaoko throttle lock and it works perfectly fine. My only other complaint maybe is the lifespan of tires.
MT09 with the cruise control, adjustable front forks and 50lb weight saving.
my 2020 z900 has adjustable front suspension. oh, and you forgot the cost difference.
