So good to find someone with high porosity type 4 hair. Thanks for the tips. I made the mistake of not undoing my medium twist before washing my hair. And it took forever to finger de tangle once I rinsed out the conditioner and proceeded to undo to apply leave in conditioner. That was a mistake.
post wash tangles can be serious. I have done a video on how I do the whole wash day in twists and detangle on dry hair after. it’s a must watch ruclips.net/video/nyGyx1P7La8/видео.htmlsi=VZkwC2aHOPt3HbhM
Henna treatments have helped my high porosity hair by filling in the gaps. Heavy products is must! Black castor oil is my go-to! . My hair also hates added hair. It sheds like crazy! Loving all your videos, Girl! :-)
I don't use henna because I get random whims to colour my hair and henna doesn't play well with box dye or professional dye. I don't use oils, butters or sealants regularly but I apply a leave in conditioner mist daily..sometimes twice a day.
Our routine is pretty much identical. I use neutral Henna because I don't want to cover my silver, but it still fills in the gaps and gives that strong coating on the hair. I swear by JBCO. It's the ultimate sealant. Love heavyweight products. They are a must
I don't worry too much about the porosity of my hair. My routine is to shampoo, condition, add leave-in, and a mousse or a custard. I do this twice a week and my hair stays moisturized.
@@1GoldenBreeze You probably have normal porosity which is why porosity is not an issue for you. I use a scalp shampoo weekly and a water based scalp mist daily. My trichologist also use a scalp mask and recommend daily steam for scalp issues but I'm lazy so I don't do that all of the time. My scalp does not like styling products so I don't apply things like mousse, gels, twist butter, jelly, edge control and custards regularly. I get by with leave in conditioner and leave in detangler.
@@marleyhill34 Thanks for sharing. I have CCCA and I use a prescription shampoo, and steroid solution on my scalp. Luckily it was caught early so it responded well to treatment. I'm careful not to get my styling products on my scalp, and many times I also use just a leave-in for styling.
@@1GoldenBreeze I think I have CCCA but finding a dermatologist is a long process. I don't want to go the steroid route because I know long-term use of medication can have other types of side effects.( see topical steroid withdrawal) I would use it temporarily ( 3 months) but I wouldn't use it long-term.
Definitely agree that knowing your porosity really helps with haircare. I do one week repair shampoo/deep conditioner and the following week moisture shampoo/deep conditioner. I'm on the look out for a good protein treatment once I have that, my routine will be locked down 😄
Talking about humectants... Doesn't glycerin pulls too much moisture for the hair in high porosity since the cuticle are already raised, curly chemistry advice high porosity naturals to avoid using humectants in the top list products
Glycerin has done wonders for my high porosity hair. Just don't use too much aside from what may already be in your hair products. Most of the styling products I use have Glycerin in the top five ingredients. I use one part Glycerin to about five parts aloe vera juice and distilled water in a spray bottle. This keeps my hair moisturized for days. I wash every two weeks. In between, I spritz every few days. This works for me. You can play around with the measurements of the Glycerin. You may need more or less depending on your hair. In these hotter months, you may not need as much. I owe all of this Glycerin stuff to Coily Diaries. It truly has been a game changer in my hair routine. Plus, my hair has been thriving, and I am able to retain more length.
@@PamLatson any glycerin products I use keeps my hair moisturized for days too...my favorite leavein conditioner are Mielle Organics Avocado Milk and kinky curly knot today...it's so good I will keep using my glycerin in small quantities tho
I struggle with shredding on my ends even though I clip split ends . I’ve just started using green tea rinse . I have high porosity hair so shedding is my biggest nemesis. Do you have any suggestions🙏🏽❤️

@@CoilyDiariesMe too. My hair care is simple. However, my scalp care can be a bit of a trial.

Excited for you finding that protein treatment 👍🏽!!!
There are many good protein treatments. If it has hydrolyzed protein it’s good.
@@Anne_one The problem is some have ingredients my hair really dislikes so for now my search continues.
After I wash my hair I spray my hair with an ACV rinse and it closes my cuticles.
nice 👍🏽 job
What’s the ratio of water and glycerin for your spritz?
it really depends but see my moisturising videos for this
What works in finger detangling after moisturizing a day before is using coconut oil.
Thanks for sharing ❤️
You’re a mind reader. I was just thinking about my high porosity hair. I’ve included a bit of henna to my routine.
Heard great things about Henna!! What’s the main reason for using it ??
I want to start to darken my hair naturally

I believe that most of hair loss issues stem from within. so I’d start from the inside out
Try avocado.

What about us sistas with high porosity hair that is NOT kinky curly or coiled? Damn we cant catch a break!😢
