Cool vid, I'm still keeping my Pixel though 😜
As an Apple channel, I do want to do unbiased reviews of Android devices at some point.
Samsung will now use Google Messages for their default text app so that part seems to be taken care of. But I agree with you, it will take a while for Apple users to update to the latest IOS for both sides to work smoothly.
Gen Z children were just a baby when iMessage was released.
I was 12
Anyone who says gen is cringe
@@itswhatever9686 you have brain rot
Ehh, I would say gen alpha because iMessage was introduced in 2011, and 2010 is the cutoff of Gen-Z and when Gen-Alpha starts.
Ugh, yes. If only iMessage never came to be, the lives of people in the US would be so much easier. Maybe if it weren't for iMessage, maybe we would have switched to WhatsApp or Signal or something, you know?
Yeah I have some Android users that don't have RCS for some strange reason. At least it'll be better than SMS group chats though.
This video and the video style is so GenZ coded.
True. I am gen-z myself, and I tried to target a gen-z/alpha audience as they are the ones who make group chats the most these days.
Many will switch to android though not immediately. When people can send pictures and videos to iPhones and they’re not pixilated that will be a turning point. It was apples fault all along. At some point android will make RCS the default. That could happen with a simple update.
Yeah I hope that RCS becomes more of a standard. Also technically, it was not really apples fault for SMS being bad, more of it being old tech.
All Android phones sold in the US have Google Messages as the default messaging app. Even if a person switches the default app to Samsung messages, the app urges them to use Google Messages. Additionally, you can ask the person using another app for messaging to use Google Messages.
Still doesn’t explain why only 50% of the android users in my (and many others) contacts have SMS.
@@will.gallegos How did you come to that conclusion? Are you using an Android phone? I have an Android phone. The only people I communicate with through SMS use iPhones.
It's apple that ruins the group chat eventhough RCS is soon available for apple users.
RCS will be turned on by default on every iPhone running iOS 18. I got iOS 18 on my phone, and only half of the android users have it on.
I just want to add something. (I am not biased toward Google or Apple, I use LineageOs and a Linux PC) I hate the way Google markets RCS as an open standard, they are very intentionally manipulating their users into unknowingly getting sucked into their own - proprietary messaging service. For me using RCS is impossible without tying into Googles servers because the protocol is locked down so tight. It is impossible for open source third parties to implement it themselves.
I'm glad phones are moving away from the trash called SMS but this really isn't the way, Having all of your messages in the hands of a company known for lying and manipulating just to sell more data is not a good idea.
Personally, I use Signal but i realize that not everybody is going to use it with me, Hopefully RCS gets properly opened up
RCS is a standard owned by the GSMA, which also invented SMS. Google just "invests" I guess you could say into RCS, and that's why it looks like they control it. A ton of their products are built upon RCS as well. Google does own servers that have the end to end encryption and all that jazz, but they cannot read your data.
@@will.gallegos is rcs really cross-platform if android is the only platform which has it? and even then, only half the android phones even now. Regarding encryption, i believe it's not built into rcs as a standard but is built into google's rcs. so i can imagine what the original comment is about. historically, i believe apple were the ones that wanted network providers to adopt rcs over a decade ago but the network providers refused due to the fact that it would significantly hurt their profits. Finally, google saying end to end encrypted is misleading in itself. to which end? Because google for sure has the decryption keys. And if they have it, I really don't see any point of preventing some third party antenna diy guy from stealing a couple texts here and there. No such thing as privacy with google. Also, google's history of messaging services is atrocious. Hangouts, google chat, google duo... just goes on and on. Point I'm making, they don't care. Hence the lack of RCS support amongst android devices currently.
3:40 that not true, when I was texting this one person that use Samsung messaging app, it still use RCS
Ok Samsung Messages might have it enabled then, but other messaging clients don't.
@@will.gallegos yea that fair
You can hear the voice and already know not to watch this video
Samsung messages has RCS
Proof?
Good video. Although everyone should just by an I phone
I think everyone should buy an android instead ^^
people with iphones should just not be spoilt brats
Why?
With 1000 bucks for the 15 pro max Id rather buy the s24 Ultra which has better specs with the same price range
