First review I've seen that showed me that rear compartment for cables! Excellent. I think I'm gonna go for a couple of these. Thanks for your thoughts and especially what you've had before. It puts your opinion in context.
@@tarekith Interesting thing I heard the other day - volume through an app is handy for people who want to stand far away and sound check levels. Don't need to run back and forth to change the volume
Good review. I think using the soundboks Go to reference a soundboks gen 3 or 4 is probably wrong because the GO is a consumer speaker while the actual Soundboks is a real PA speaker.
I've used the gen 3 and 4's before, and while the Go isn't the same as though I definitely think Soundbox's favors a sound for their speakers that isn't really flat and accurate. And not everyone cares about that, nor should they. They're still good sounding speakers, I just think for most people playing MOST kinds of music the W8's might sound a bit better. Loud dance party where volume is key while still sounding big without distorting? The Soundbox's excel at that kind of thing.
Tarekith have you used the speakers with a wireless microphone? will it transmit the audio out of both speakers through sonic link connection when the mic is connected to one speaker? What would you say the distance capabilities is for the speakers for the sonic link to work? Trying bluetooth EV8's I am finding the signal drop out. Do you suggest hard wiring a phone for the music playback or will blue tooth work for that and sonic link dont have any performance drop offs?
I have not used these with a wireless mic, sorry. In general I find the bluetooth to be a little more fiddly to set up with the W8's, especially when trying to pair two of them to say my ipHone. I got it to work eventually every time I tried, but the Soniclink tech is just more reliable IME. As for the distance, I've used them at around 100ft from where I was DJing with not issues at all. It has to be line of sight though, it's not going to work far at all around corners and the like. I would definitely prefer to hardwire the phone for music playback, even when the bluetooth works reliably you're always going to get a slight hit to the over all sound quality. Depends on the use case though, at a beach party when people are just randomly playing each other songs, who cares?
I typically don't need that much power, so I'm considering replace a pair of k12.2 with them. Do toy think its a good trade off? Pros: - smaller speakers and BT - maybe better sound quality? Cons: - smaller buffer and loudness but i don't need that much anyway
I'm not sure what it would gain you other than if you need the whole wireless aspect. The K12.2 are pretty good sounding and they have built in EQ which these do not. But if the 12.2's are just more than you need, then yes these would be nice and give you a little more flexibility in how you use them.
can always lower the speakers and you ready for anything with what you have ..you got thee best speakers pioneer have a great way of making you buy their new shit keeping in mind you can just get good bluetooth receivers for your speakers so theres a way around it i would not give up such great sound its hard not to hear the difference after if you had some other speakers maybe but you got the creme
Hi there! I’m looking to replace my old JBLs and was wondering if you’d recommend these as indoor monitors? While I don’t need wireless functionality, I’d likely use it a few times a year. I primarily use the monitors for DJing house parties in my living room (I live in a house, so volume isn’t a major concern). There are so many options out there, and I’ve done quite a bit of research, but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. I’d love your expert opinion or any recommendations you might have for indoor monitors that would suit my needs. I’m willing to invest in quality gear, so I just want to make sure I’m making the right choice. Thanks so much for your time and help!
I think if you're not going to be using the battery and wireless aspects, these end up being rather expensive for what they are. You'd be better off waiting to find a sale on something like the QSC K12.2 speakers, which I also have and like a lot.
@@tarekith My number one would be quality of sound. I do find it interesting with the Wave8 being wireless. If it's splitting hairs in sound, the wireless is interesting, but sound sound sound. :)
@@LindseyLockwood Then 12.2’s will be better then, they have onboard EQ which the Wave 8’s just don’t offer. Easier to dial those into a specific room that way.
This is so interesting. Pushing 70% volume on my wave eight d I'm lucky to get two hours on mine. I wonder if mine is defective.... You really get about 8 hours at around 80% volume?
@@DJBlakeleyec That seems like excessively short battery life to me based on what I’m seeing here. Might be worth contacting Alpha Theta to see what they say.
Hey bud. Could I ask for your step by step guidance if possible as I cannot for the life of me figure it out after an hour. How do I daisy chain two of these speakers together? I’ve got one speaker connected via Bluetooth to my phone which is great, but I cannot get the second speaker to pair with the speaker im connected to
@@av3675 for Bluetooth connectivity.... after connecting one speaker to a Bluetooth device, You place both speakers close to each other. Simultaneously hold down the speaker pair button on both speakers for 1 second. That should pair it. No need to do anything with transmitters
I don’t personally believe recording a loud speaker outside with a camera mic really provides any sort of meaningful info. Too many variables at play without any sort of standardized method of doing it.

Thanks for your explanation of the speakers great video.
Hi, just to let you know your reviews are excellent, very clear and practical, really appreciate your content.
Thanks a lot!
Thank you for the review that’s so wild all the technology and they didn’t make an app for it to control volume levels.
I mean, each speaker has a dedicated volume knob already, as should anything you're trying to play through it, right?

I get the feeling Alpha Theta is getting rid of the brand name "Pioneer DJ"
They have already said publicly that they aren’t, but I guess time will tell.
