The way Greg talks about sheathing his sword is exactly how I felt playing this game. I love when games have a button to put away your weapon: RDR2, Jedi: Fallen Order, and even Twilight Princess.

Infamous was a top 3 PS3 game for me, so to hear them say Ghost may actually be a better game gets me hype! But honestly, I've been sold on Ghost since the E3 trailer. :)
InFamous was just...so good. I get so nostalgic thinking about running (jumping) around Empire City, collecting dead drops and blast shards. Golden age of PS3!
Me too. One of the best I've ever played. Played through 4 times. Never finished Ghost as it just didn't have the same wow factor. A tedious hack n slash.

Games like that are not for everyone and game critics have to play them because it's their job while us gamers play them because we want to. I think I understand why so many of them want an easy-mode for games like that: it would save them a lot of stress.
I don't really mind that the game doesn't have lock on, the fight mechanics and use of sound are clearly designed so that feature doesn't require it, but sadly, the camera isn't, not a biggie though, you just get used to swiping the camera quickly the bring other enemies into view.

I think when reviewing a game you should look at how well a games achieves what it sets out to do rather than comparing it to other games in the genre. From what I can tell it seems Ghost of Tsushima mostly nails what it sets out to do and I think it should probably be higher on Metacritic but I guess I'll see what I think when I play.
Man, the hate that Deacon St. John is getting on this podcast...its so weird how much they dislike him :D I definitely liked him a lot more than Aloy, Sam Bridges or Cassandra from AC. He sucks at the beginning of the game, but throughout the game his characters get really fleshed out imo

But as I said: His character becomes really interesting the more you play this game. The campaign is 30+ hours and he has A LOT of character development. He actually reminds me of Arthur from RDR2. Just like him Deacon slowly opens up to others and we get to see his personal issues.
These are the kinds of trophies worth investing in. Enjoy playing the game, with maybe 1 or 2 nagging trophies. I just scored my 9th Platinum with Control. Great game, didn't think there was a necessity for additional trophies for the Foundation DLC. May grab a few of those, but don't feel as compelled because I just want to enjoy the story now. We'll see. 😉
I agree with the stealth criticisms. I love doing stealth takedowns in Assassins Creed, Spider-Man, Batman Arkham but here? Unless there were Mongol camps or rooftops, if you were facing down a bunch of guys in a field (which happened more often than not) stealth was a nightmare. Maybe you'd get 1 or 2 stealth hits in and then the enemy would converge. It was much better to do Standoff and take 3-5 kills at once with that. Which is a shame, because I love stealth gameplay.
Exactly. Not every game needs to be a heart pounding, gut wrenching, deep in thought experience. Video games that are real video games don't get enough credit.
I feel this way as well, but I get it from Greg’s perspective too. You look at a lot of his favorite games and they’re games trying to be movies; Kojima games, Naughty Dog games, God of War, etc.

Doesn't sound horrible. I'm still excited to play the game, though and I'm glad to hear Blessing loved the stealth.

From Someone 60$ is a big decision: Open world with simple AAA quality and simple story is good enough to be higher on my buy list for me. Someone who buys at max 3 games in a year. This year was already pre-booked for me by Cyberpunk when the release date was announced. Last year was AC:Odyssey(unistalled after 170 Hrs) and 2018 was HITMAN 2( Still on my system) Microsoft's gamepass or EA pass (Alternating cycle for each). And Lots of Free to play games(PC), and monthly giveaways. As an average I at least try(6 Hrs+) 30 games every year. All of above is Legal statistics. I am also Pirate Veteran. Yaaaar...

I'm playing Persona 5 right now and loving every minute I already bought Royal and Dancing in Starlight is in route to me currently. I wanted Persona 5 to be my first Platinum trophy, but I'm worried the grind will make me not love the game as much as I do right now. Hopefully I can finish them up before Cyberpunk
The platinum for Royal is much easier than OG P5. Although I wouldn’t necessarily recommend playing them back to back. They are 85% the same (very good but very long) game.
man i love the concept of an open world samurai/ninja game, but the biggest let down for me is the stealth gameplay, it looks really basic. which is weird because youd think the ghost playstyle would get as much love as the samurai playstyle considering its called Ghost of Tsushima, not Samurai of Tsushima. I think they coulda borrowed elements from Metal Gear Solid:Phantom Pain, in its approach to open ended design, its accommodation of various play styles and its general gameplay depth. I feel like if the gameplay is deep enough then side content is able sustain its fun factor, rather than feeling repetitive.
20 adverts in the first 60 minutes, then nothing for the second half... *Very annoying to watch & listen!* After you have cleared all the camps, does anything respawn? Or have you got to replay the game to do more sword fighting.

But its confusing to your readers and listeners when the consistency of the rating and writing are always at odds with each other. So many reviews are just hot takes, or immature anger, and frankly its bs. I found breath of the wild pretty boring and exploring did not really feel rewarding/ empty but ghost is screaming out to me as a world that looks like every section would have a story to tell. But whats weird about all of this is death stranding I bloody love and I walked for 70 hours 🤣 Do you think if breath of the wild was under a different name it would be known as one of the best game / open world game or is it because its a zelda title which have hardcore fans ?
