More of this please :D. I hate when the "making of a movie", 99% is interviews with the actors. The people behind the scenes has always the hardest work and is far more interesting.
yeah i hate when they make interviews with vocal artists do it with the animators, character designers, scene makers, sculptures, thanks for this video
Its so nice to watch animals acting on the way they really are. This little and light movements helps a lot to understand their origin and to deliver the audience that they are cartoon animals and not humans trying to be animals. Thanks a lot to show those things.
It's actually why Zootopia to me is the best animal world. A lot of people think Sing beat Zootopia by adding more animals when in reality, Byron put mammals only on PURPOSE since he was thinking "what would the predators eat? BUGS! So don't make bugs evolved." and things like that.
They are humanize animals with a small animal touch. You don’t see a rabbit driving in real life. However they went for a more animal look at the point that they didn’t wanted them to have buttocks & didn’t wanted to have pectorals like humans. Many quadruple animals have less space in their chest. The way our humans arms are attached to our body allows better arms movements. So the directors/artists really went for that animal look with making semi/quadruple animals.
So much efforts for a single frame...These animators working behind the scenes day n night should be awarded with something like Oscar ..They really deserve it
The moment she started describing that under the bridge scene between Judy and Nick she became emotional ! Hats off to the animators who created the world that I love Z O O T O P I A ♥♥♥
As a furry I absolutely love this movie it’s amazing. The animation is so good the characters are brilliant and the story and the message are to good for words
Great video! And to all the budding artists out there, especially the ones that are shamed for using references (I know, it's crazy but a fair few I've met pride themselves on not using them and they seem to see it as a crutch) USE THEM. If Disney needs them YOU need them. It makes me so sad to see people stunting and stagnating in their art because they don't reference.
I’m seeing some proper firearms there. Probably stun ammunition, but damn that bunny is packing heat. Tiny heat. Like, each round vs a large animal would be like... _dink_.
Bummer we didn't get to see Judy use that taser gun, however I'm glad they didn't use too many of her rabbit characteristics. The animations are great but hard to see her being that scared and stressed after her strong personality.
It's great to see the personal side of working at Disney is like. Just makes me wanna start 3D animation and see how far I get, and maybe I might get to work at Disney.
Why not try? Maya (Professional Animation software) has a free trial student version. Free character rigs are always around. Animation tutorials are on youtube.
Rage Phil are you sure zootopia 2 coming soon in 2021. if yes i'll be waiting for this movie. don't let down ok:-). i love disney i love zootopia and love u guys. thx 😊😄😂🐰🐰🐰
3:20 jeesh! That was recorded in 2014. So if the voice acting came 2 years prior to the release, I’d assume the whole story with Wild Times and the collars were scrapped in like 2013?? But even earlier they must’ve thought of making Zootopia the movie all the way back in 2011/2012!
2:19 shows a guy shooting reference for Judy under the bridge. 3:10 she says that she animated that scene and and shot reference herself for it... And maybe she filmed him for reference because she thought he would have the right acting skills, but it just kinda jumped out at me as strange...
Hmm so they have models right? So why won't they strap on those suits where it tracks points on the body and their movements on sertant cuts to make the animation easyer? Also I know human body is different from those animals but what if they move those points to fit the model in the movie? 😐
Motion capture has limitations in the physical world. I mean you saw where they animated Judy being super scared and scrambling all over the place - you can't get that sort of crazy movement with a human body that follows the laws of physics. If Disney wanted to make a motion capture movie like Mars Needs Moms it just would, no need for animation at all. The only reason animation exists and is popular, though, is that it can do things that live action can't.
+Fuyuno Kaito to qualify for big animation companies like DreamWorks & Pixar's you need to have years of experience in the Maya software.. unfortunate for me I learned 3ds max which is just as good but not what the animation industry is looking for
Maya is too expensive though. The only free software for poor beginners is Blender. But if you ever want to apply for a job for a studio like this, they will most likely pick someone else over you who has Maya listed under their resume and you don't. I wish I could afford Maya :\
Learn by using noncommercial or student versions of the software that is needed. I mean Maya, 3DsMax, Zbrush, Mari, and Marvel Designer has some sort of noncommercial or student versions of their professional software. What are you waiting for? Jump in.
This was never shown in the movie. The plot was changed. So we only can guess what she said (beside the part at the end where they have some subtitles...)

thanks for this video
@@shao7414 yeah like WTF they only did the voice for the characters and that's so easy LMAO
Agreeee
@@Som3D hey, im a voice actor and graphics animator and i can tell you, its not easy. Neither of them are
Keep talking to the people who make these things, not just the actors. You will always get a deeper understanding than talking to the actors.
Zootopia is a masterpiece. This was so interesting!
what software are they using to make those Disney characters?
and rendering also?
Autodesk Maya Software
Azzam Ridho I thought they created their own software

I feel as though science and art are connected
They are,we wouldn't have safe colors and pigments without science. In 19th century there was a lot od paint that contained Arsen in there, super toxic
yup they are
This is unbelievably amazing. I love and enjoy every second of Disney or Pixar animations. They're doing super professional job.
1:45 Holy shit Judy chill.

Put it on .25
Girllll u alrihhgt
I love how the artists of Disney Animation animates Judy Hopps like she's a real bunny. They did such a great job making her so adorable. 👍❤️🐰
They can make a 2 hr long featurette on Making of Zootopia and I'd be down for that one too.
0:44 It’s great that they used some real animal movements as the basis for the movements of the characters
Love how they made this wonderful movie! So can't wait for the sequel!
The moment she started describing that under the bridge scene between Judy and Nick she became emotional !

So proud finnish here because Kira is a finnish animator and she did such a good work in Zootopia!
I've literally had this in my watch later for 3 years now and I'm JUST watching it now.
I'm so proud that there's finnish animator in Disney! Go Lehtomäki!

As for an aspiring animator who wants to work for Disney, this was very inspirational. Thank you!
I don't know why, but I'm so interested in this movie
Zootopia is such an amazing, truly truly amazing film and this is so fascinating 💫
I love how they developed Judy Hopps.
Zootopia is actuelly one of the only kids movies that I enjoyed watching and the only cgi full movie that I like the looks of.
Our bunnies zoom around the kitchen and do little spins in the air too! XD

Kira Lehtomäki? Woah, I had no idea the animation supervisor of this movie is Finnish! That's really cool.

DIMAS_ CYBER no way in 2018. It take them 7 years to make one film
If they did make another one, it would take another 7 years to make it. If they were going to make it. It would probably come out in 2023-2024
I love this
wonderful
This movie is mewriful

o_O Did... did that guy really say... *that f***ing bunny*???? It subtitles said *lucky* but sure didn't sound that way to me.
Its a little after 0:57
Same
I know it's been a year, but he said "just how much of her is in that plucky bunny."
Actually, he said plucky. Not lucky, not fluffy, and most definitely not f***ing.
Leah Glidewell ... it.... sounds like it.........
He said funky lmao
Jennifer goodman was so perfect for Judy
FINLAND!!!!
wonderful!!!
thanks for the video, it was very interesting ^_^

Suomi mainittu, torilla tavataan!!! :D
“We didn’t want these animals to just be humans in animal suits”... dissin’ on the furries? (•_•)
Which program was used to do this animation?
gołąb drapieżny I think maya? I'm not really sure
gołąb drapieżny maybe cinema 4D or blender
no cinma 4d and for sure no blender. I worked with both and they are not that powerful at all as the tools they use at disney
"came from a familly of scientists"
I don't really think the comparison is 1 : 1.
why?
Ayyy Kenya

Animation isn’t real life movement. It’s stylized and follows rules of animation.
