Zootopia is great! And Disney seems to know that, as they've added additional content to play alongside their movie's runtime with Zootopia+ on DisneyPlus! Of course I know it as Zootropolis and Zootropolis+ but it acts as a great installment to further flesh out the worldbuilding of this incredible world. With 5 episodes focused on side characters like Weaselton, the Mafia Boss Mr Big and those slow slow sloths again. And all of it culminates into a great piece of fan service we can call Disney's Zootopia+ SPIN-OFF Series...

...I am in love with the concept of Rodentia now. Why do I want a full-on successor to Zootropolis? Give me more backstory to how the city was created! I never realised I wanted to know! - Кино
Can't lie, very disappointed Nick and Judy's career as buddy cops wasn't explored. I would love to see a series about them investigating various cases together throughout Zootopia. Those were the best parts of the movie for me, they have a great dynamic.
there's always the second movie
@@LegoReader12345hello yeah i wanted to say that (please dont be like frozen 2 and Ralph breaks the internet PLEASE BE A GOOD SEQUEL)
I think that was the point of this spin-off. To show the lives of Zootopia characters who aren't Nick and Judy.
I think that'll be for Zootopia 2
You know what I saw the first movie they should make a second movie
Certainly I couldn't be the only one who feels incredibly gaslit by every instance of Zootopia being Zootropolis instead. I scrolled down into the comments and there was NO MENTION OF THIS and everyone was saying ZOOTOPIA and I refuse to believe that I have somehow lost my mind
DUDE you are the only one who hass mentioned this!
In Europe it's called Zootropolis, Dazz is from the UK I'm pretty sure.
@@imbadatnamingthings7020 but even in the description of this video, it's still called that. 😩
"Alternative titles
The film was retitled for theatrical release across several international territories. In the United Kingdom and other European, Middle Eastern, and North African countries, the film was renamed Zootropolis, a reference to the concept of a 'metropolis' rather than to that of a 'utopia'. This was due to Disney being unable to trademark the name 'Zootopia' in these territories for various legal reasons, including Danish Givskud Zoo registering the name Zootopia in 2014." - Wiki
its called zootropolis in the uk and zootopia in the us. i live in the uk and got a dvd of the movie and its called zootropolis. but when i look it up online, its zootopia as the people who have written it were from the us.
There are a couple ideas for a second season (not based on Zootopia 2). Any six will do:
- Gideon Grey's life between bullying Judy as a kid and meeting her again as an adult.
- Nick's mother working her tail off to buy Nick a scout uniform (sad we know how that ends)
- Major Friedkin training ZPD cadets.
- The daily life of Yax and The Mystic Spring Oasis.
- The Ottertons (before Emmitt went missing)
- Bellwether's early life/descent into villainy/her villainous actions behind the scenes explored.
- Lionheart & Dr. Madge in jail.
- Jerry Jumbeaux's Cafe.
- Finnick. Just anything about Finnick.
Honestly the fact that they didn't have a Finnick episode dropped my interest immediately. I know his voice actor died but, as tragic as it is, they've replaced voice actors before; I don't think his family would mind.
Episode focusing on Bellweather and her descent into madness and bigotry is definitely NEEDED to better flesh out her motives and develop her role as a twist villain and retroactively fix/improve the flaw of her twist coming out of nowhere and not being probably developed or built up in the original film.
@@smurvin I wasn’t aware that the voice actor passed away :[
Finnick only appeared on screen for minutes but he was such a standout character, would love to see more of him
@@smurvin well ai exist , i mean bots who can ,,teach" how to speak like any actor , just give sample , andpermssion from family of actor who passed away for teaching ai from samples of voice from death actor (and im sure disney have samples of voice of that person before adding the rest of characters from the movie ) and i also know that using someone voice to teaching ai without permission is nono , but with permission from family , and some cut of money from premiere from disney for family of the actor i think that will be not a bad thing
Agreed completely
Mr. Big's story is oddly wholesome, at first glance you could probably think "Oh, he was an innocent young lad, then he killed a man, and then developed a thirst for blood." But he was actually trying to help out his community, defend the ones who couldn't defend themselves by unifying the community. That is what makes his story so wholesome and so unique
Italian communities really are tightly knit
Makes him feel more like a massive hypocrite to me, going from standing up to the mob because they wronged him and standing up for those who can’t defend themselves, to being a mob boss who’s presumably wronged countless others and constantly steps over those who can’t defend themselves. Try and defend him all you want, he’s organized crime and you don’t survive in the criminal underworld without stepping on a few fingers
This show was just a lot of fun. The animation is still great, and the stories are all pretty enjoyable. I especially loved "The Godfather of the Bride." Mr. Big's rise to power through growing the community was really interesting, as was seeing Zootopia in the olden days.
Absolutely
I love that Mr.Big doesn't just look like Vito corleon in the present but in the flashback of the story(being movie acuret)
I absolutely love the fact that we get to see "Duke from Weasel Town"
It's such a great reference to "The Duke from Weselton" that Elsa and Anna keep calling "Duke of Weasel Town" in Frozen
yeah didnt they make a joke abt that in the episode?
The only criticism i have for the show is that it's a limited series. Which is quite a letdown since I wanted to see more backstories and viewpoints of the characters.
I love the different shorts that were presented in Zootopia+, and how each short focuses on a different minor character from the film, but hands down my favorites ones are the ones centering on Mr. Big’s Backstory and The Dinner Date with Flash the Sloth.
I would've loved to see Gazelle's backstory.
I have to admit, this is one of the few Disney+ spinoffs that works, yet, I cannot help but feel this is basically a rehash of Lion King 1 1/2, of giving the secondary or background character their own content, however, is still subject to the main plot and story of the parent film. Yet this is better than Lion King 1 1/2, Zootopia+ is creativity is top drawer, it has an imaginative mix of superb animation, comedy, backstory, and details, I do hope for more Zootopia content in the future, it's rather impressive that Disney has not forgotten it.
Yeah, I feel the same, I though they already forgot about this movie until this and of course the sequel lol. Also, if you want more Zootopia content, check the dark horse comics, they take place during Nick and Judy's childhood.
@@neogranzong Kinda sucks that they're not being made anymore.
@@GipsyDangerfan It sucks that we got nothing in general. I'm jealous towards asians because they got better merchandise too. They even got switch cases, both for the console and joycons.
@@neogranzong wait there are zootopia comics??! about Nick and Judys childhood?!
@@ValerieSparrowW Yeah, made by dark horse comics on 2019. There's 4 issues and they show some of their lives before the carrot day festival play and the junior ranger scout incident. The art style is absolutely adorable too. The only thing I didn't like at all was that Mrs. Wilde didn't showed her face.
I actually LOVED the The Real Rodents of Little Rodentia episode, it was SO funny to me! And that pretty sweet ending where Fru Fru comes to her senses after nearly dying, I'll be honest made me tear up a little bit. It's really nice.
Anyone else notice that at 10:56 the ice they’re about to shred is the rhino they just iced? Kinda dark but totally fits the mob esthetic.
BRITISH OTTER??!?
SHE’S AUSTRALIAN 😭😭😭
Literally my reaction
It’s honestly really funny to me they chose an otter to have an Australian accent??? Out of all the cool Aussie animals and you can’t even find otters in Australia!
The funniest part of Mr. Big's episode is that they...literally crossed a puddle. Even at the size of an Arctic shrew, a puddle is no ocean. And that's the hilarity of it all.
Mr. Big’s backstory was really interesting, lore episodes are really fascinating and this one did just that and also much more by establishing other cool little details and telling a wholesome story as well. So good!!!
11:22 Mr Big is 100% a reference to Al Capone. While he wasn’t exactly the nicest guy around, he is the reason we have modern day soup kitchens. Dude advocated for helping the community and taking care of your neighbors. It’s a very strong parallel that I really appreciate Disney for referencing!
I loved this spin-off! It was so fun to see more of the world of one of my favorite modern Disney movies!
The Mr. Big episode actually won an Annie for best voice acting in TV, thanks to Mr. Big's actor Maurice LaMarche. He's very talented.
I like how for children, Weaselton becoming a surgeon sounds great. Meanwhile we adults know that's called god damn organ harversting.
I honestly thought Zootopia (as it was released for me) was going to branch out more when it came out. They introduced such a big world with interesting characters. I at least execpted a cop like show with Judy and Nick solving basic but entertaining crimes, exploring more of the city while they did it. I really enjoyed all of these episodes expect for the gazelle one since im tired of talent shows personally. On one side there was so much potential but disney does have a history of bad spinoffs that lose it one way or another. Id love to see more from this series and any other shows you chose to review
I mean, if for some reason, a season 2 for this is declared, I kinda want to see Gazelle's backstory.
I really loved Duke the Musical, the song is so catchy, it's a shame Disney didn't care that much about it. And as you mentioned in the video, I found the choreography in that episode, especially on Duke, so lovely.
This actually now tells us that Disney doesn’t make stuff like illumination movies. They try really hard on anything that we sometimes never needed but still had.
What is ironical about "The Real Rodents of Little Rodentia" is that shrews are NOT rodents! 😅
The "i just got out of jail" line in episode 2 killed me
9:16
I don't know why, but just that one joke of Mr Big slurring the date made me die laughing lmfao
Honestly I am SO READY for some Zootopia world building/lore. When the film came out when I was a kid, I was 1000% down for a civil rights era Zootopia prequel. I am still very much down for that.
When I think about it, another movie it would be good to do this with (provided they keep the same quality) is raya and the last dragon. They could call it Tales of Kumandra and have one short story set in each of the five regions, either about the main characters before or after they meet raya, or about completely different characters. I'd love to see boun serving cranky customers on a busy day or baby noi either meeting the ongis for the front time or planning some sort of comical heist. It's a movie wlthat did a lot of world building yet rushed through each area so it's perfect for some short stories provided they do it correctly
I love seeing Allen Tudyk in stuff. I feel like people haven’t been enjoying him lately because of the types of roles he’s been given lately (like the Scroll from Enchanted 2) but I just love hearing the guy’s voice so Episode 3 was a treat and a half
I remember seeing these spin-off episodes a few months ago and I absolutely love them! The episodes are fun, interesting, allow for more world building, and we just get to see more Zootopia in general
5:47 the Phineas and Ferb movie isn’t a “Direct-to-DVD sequel”. The first movie was a Disney Channel Original Movie and the 2nd one was a Disney+ Original Movie. And neither of them are sequels, because they both take place during the series. Even the new movie takes place before the end of the series.
8:59 I now realize that Duke has 3 upper fangs lol
Interesting. I don’t know if you ever checked out Lion King 1 1/2 but I feel like that movie is just like Zootopia+ only with the inclusion of Timon and Pumbaa’s arch in the first movie. I got to say that makes it one of the best direct to video movies ever in my opinion
The effect that the Howler Rose Defile Flower has on any Anthro Animal is still cannon to the movie but how do Bugs Fish and Shell Fish cope with Zootopia Mega City for Animals dress and act and walk like people
Mammals are the only anthropomorphized animals in this universe. Non-mammalian animals were not given the same treatment. Considering that you have mammalian predators that feed on fish and shellfish (such as polar bears and otters), anthropomorphizing those animals would make the entire premise extremely problematic. It also wasn't necessary for the predators vs prey allegory for racism.
Another thing to notice is that there are no domesticated or livestock animals present. No dogs, no housecats, no horses. Sheep are the exception but I think that's an aesthetic choice. Domesticated sheep today look very different than their wild ancestors and are more recognizable to a kid than other wild sheep, like the Big Horn.
@@25Erix This, and even then for the sheep and pigs you could sorta make the argument that just a change of lifestyle can make their ancestors look like that. Can't say the same for dogs, who are the product of thousands of years of selective breeding.
@@neogranzong I forgot about the pigs. 😅 Plus domestic pigs look more "civilized" than your standard wild boars/sows. Wild pigs look downright mean and have the temperament of someone who hates you just for existing. Like moose.
@@25Erix Yeah, you should see the original script storyboard, they had a special unit of iirc boars called TUSK and they looked menacing as hell, they even had Gatling guns, of course those shot tranq darts, but still.
Does anyone else get Scrat vibes from Duke's face alone???
Ngl I would watch a full movie about Mr. Big's story. Or a serie.
I didn't realize this show was already out. I don't think I've seen a single advertisement for it.
I love this so much!!! Kinda sad this doesn't get much recognition, at least from what I've seen.
Maybe another spinoff video I'd really like to see is those Kung Fu Panda animated shorts each movie had. The ones that showed the stories of the different masters and the Furious 5 when they were younger
you know ur in too deep when u know that the music at 11:55 is from when pearl did her killer wail in splatoon 2 octo expansion
I'm pretty sure in the rodent housewives one. Some of the rodents are actually voiced by housewives from the shows!
Zootropolis 🙌🏼 can't wait for Zootropolis 2
It's both.
weaselton's musical is severely underrated and one of the best things from any of these kinds of shows
Personally liked episode 2 a lot because how real the camera work felt
The first episode explains a lot about Judy. That scene where Bonny and Stu were chasing the train reminded me of the scene in the movie where Judy and Nick were driving the night howler train car. Bonny and Stu will be what Judy and Nick would be like 10 years from the present.
nope nope the clawhauser seen takes place near the end when they got flushed and are in the lake. when he burst in going. "they found them!" to the rhino. its a whole new scean not tied to the first call judy makes.
Fun fact: the series is called Zootopia+ but in the video it’s shown as zootropilis+ because the uk changed the film Zootopia to zootropilis
It was really cute to see Nick wild or Nicolas Wild scooping snow with a 4l water tank
Honestly, I hope Sam and Garold from my favorite Zootopia + episode Dinner Rush go join Nick and Judy in the sequel. Those two have SO much potencial. That way we can get a male and female predator, and a male and female prey. Since they aren't cops, maybe they accidently find themselves with Nick and Judy on their next mission. I think that might be kind of great.
I still prefer the trucks musical number from cars on the road to Duke’s song
I was impressed they sort of brought Nick's old storyline back for the 3rd episode. At the very least, the musical number totally felt like it might have originally been conceptualized for it.
This love death and robots style has been growing more and more and I really like it
9:17 If You Listen Closely It Sounds Like He's Saying 1943
Awwww there’s attack on Vah Medoh at the end edit: and romance is in the air or whatever it’s called. Quite fitting for that exact scene
I'd say my favorite episode of the series is the first but the least favorite is probably either the last one or the one with clawhauser because the whole story was just a dream
Zootopia has one of the best Worldbuilding next to Robots. Speaking of which were would you want to live? (as an animal and robot respectively.)
I really hope they do either a new movie or more episodes like this so I do love the real housewives remake that was probably my favorite part I was dying
I really loved watching all of these, I'm a huge fan of Zootopia and it made my day when I saw they released on my birthday!
I think you said "Andy Tudyk", but Duke's VA name is "Alan Tudyk". It's okay if this slipped through - it's easy to miss.
the zootopia franchise has so much potential i would love to see more stuff like this
Wait till dazz learns about pikmin 4
5:40
Welllll Seamus Gorman already did straight to dvd sequels!
the Disney sequel show!
hehe
14:40 the otter (sam) is Australian
My man using Pokémon Colosseum/XD Pyrite Town OST in a vid. Great choice for an amazing vid!
CAN WE NOT IGNORE HOW (at least i think) THE TWO WOLVES THAT APEAR IN THE MOOVIE ARE IN THE RESTAURANT AS WELL
Im dissapointed that Piemations wasn't mentioned near the end.
You should definitely do a video on the how to train your dragon series, "Race to the Edge"
Bro called the otter British 💀
I actually adored this video so much- I’m gonna look into the series myself. Thank you, Dazz!
==> the splatoon music at 11:50 scared me like man i was trying to take a break
It would of been nice if it tied in with Kung-fu Pander.🐼
The mr big episode sorta reminded me of American tail.
i saw clips of it on youtube and i was like: HUH? what is this? but didn't know it was a series! nice
In the first episode we see the evil sheep guy getting in the same bus as Judy maybe he had just come to check out the howlers
That music in the opening it’s Built to Scale from Rhythm Heaven Fever ( Beat the Beat Rhythm Paradise where you’re from)
HOW DID I MISS THIS THE MR BIG EPISODE SOUNDS VERY COOL
The baby rabbit: Jujy!! 'Moanes'
For the longest time, I thought the claw was his nose. Every time I saw the thumbnail.💀
This was very interesting, i what other Spin-offs there is and will be?
They didn't make John Pork Canon, I'm unsatisfied.
Nice thumbnail, Dazz. Nice thumbnail.
I heard that splatoon music (11:54)
11:30 is that splatoon music??? Awesome
Splatoon 2 octo expantion🤓🤓🤓
4:16 is that katamari music I here.😮😍
hopefully for the next season, we get woolter and jesse (but toned down for obvious reasons)
Almost certain this has already been said, but Monsters at Work is another Disney+ spin-off series you might want to check out.
haven't seen this show but i can say it looks very good and i might see zootopia 2.
I want to see you review the spin off Beywheelz. It’s supposed to be a spin off of BEYBLADE metal fury
THAT CLUTCH POWERS DISCORD IMAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES YES YES
Oh you should definitely watch Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension. It's a bop, it's funny, it's literally concentrated quality peak P&F in a TV movie. Perfection.
5:52 You gotta do Clutch Powers!
the otter is Australian lol
Actually, Tudyk's first name wasn't Andy, it was Alan.
And actually, Charlotte Nicdao, the voice of Sam (the otter waitress), is Australian.
Bro. How fast is that truck!?
what is the background music from 0:00 - 1:19? it sounds so familiar and its driving me nuts trying to figure it out
its less than an hour since like 3 minutes each of the episodes are credits
omg the clutch powers movie was amazing but i found it once and never found it again.
LEGO the adventures of Clutch Powers is my childhood I was 10 when it first came out
I don't know, it was really cute, as if you found someone's video from the event that you were yourself, but now you see it from another person. It's funny
it took me a moment to realize that zootopia is the same as zootropolis but there's a name change if its in england
i would recommend the next vid to be "Big Hero 6 The Series"
i really liked it.
Zootopia is secretly a horror film with the night howler flowers
