The REEF-LUX 450 is one of the infamous Tenta Missile weapons and very BEST Painting weapon in Splatoon 3. Before Fresh Season came around Tenta Missiles got a Big Nerf which made them to be spammed less. This lead people to use the REEF LUX 450 a whole lot less.
In this video i do the complete opposite, instead of using this Bow Weapon as a supportive painting special farmer, i use it as a aggressive skirmisher that does not care about anything!

@@Akuspizza Exactly! I main the ReefLux and it’s actually really fun to play with! I’ve got it to 4 stars so far, and if you practice your aim, you can easily one-shot people from far away. It’s literally the same as a charger, but then without an indication about where the shot lands.
@@Pecktor-Wyatt-56 it's two shot is also nothing to scoff at either! even though it takes 3 shots technically to kill, throwing out the first level charge shots constantly very often lands at least 2 shots even with just decent aim

Playing with the REEF-LUX is like the equivalent of a Squiffer. Good charge time, lightweight weapon, but with a damn good tap shot kill when people get too comfortable.
I can confirm that there I times I forget I have missile cause its so damn fun to use!
One time I went up against a team that just straight up had a REEF-LUX as their _backliner,_ and that player was SNIPING, dude. I got caught by them so many times. Ever since that match, I've wanted to see the cracked REEF-LUX player that goes all-in on the combat potential; this video is everything I've wanted.
Honestly excited for this weapons second kit. Hopefully it fits well with this attacking playstyle
I can actually see this get the Jr Kit (Splat Bomb and Big Bubbler).
i think out of the new weapons its a great canidate for kraken. i would want torpedo splat bomb or burst bomb kraken

Dude, when this weapon gets a different kit I think it might actually be played like this and I'm so down for it. You got some sick clips for trying to play this weapon for the weapon itself instead of just being a missile spammer. It's just so satisfying to watch you get snipes on this weapon!
Imagine this weapon with like splat bomb wave braker, super chump, or kraken. It'd actually be so good with tons of paint output and specials as well as a potential one shot, Also being able to combo if a wave, chump, or splat bomb splash damage connect only needing 2/3 bolts to connect
Surprised we haven't seen any alt or new Stringer Kits yet TBH!

One thing to note, the reef lux is pretty much the highest DPS in the game when using partial charges. It can pop rainmaker faster than dapples or sploosh

Actually, that would be simply because the reeflux has a very high object dmg multiplier (can be further enhanced with object shredder)
Simply putting sploosh/dapples up to the test against the dps of tapshot/partial reeflux in the firing range against the big grey targets will prove enough, but sometimes that object damange DOES make a huge difference (a well positioned dapples can shred a booyah bomb users armor and kill them before they have the chance to charge the damn thing)
@@sanicpl1499 It also has really high dps in salmon run when using the partial charges (1 ring of charge). It can take out bosses and cohocks incredibly fast. I don't actually love using it, I'd rather have dapples or sploosh in salmon run, but its damage is kind of insane. It's not the most practical delivery method for that damage and requires being really good at consistently getting those single ring shots out as quickly as possible. But as far as raw numbers it's kinda crazy.

Pvp Sploosh < SR sploosh
Pvp dapples < SR dapples
Pvp splash > SR splash
@@bowser3017 Accurate. I wouldn't recommend the reef to anyone in pvp. All it has going for it is paint, and obliterating the rainmaker shield haha, but in salmon run it's decent.
Been using this recently, getting 1 shots never gets old with it, really fun when it doesn't missle spam
hello reeflux main here! i find being aggressive with it is actually really helpful, and i average around 18 kills a game with it. its actually a really strong weapon that is overshadowed by its kit

I agree I’ve always wanted to use a charger weapon that isn’t a charger it self tried tri string didn’t like it now I main ree flux I lack aggressive confidence when approaching enemy’s but I’m improving

tri stringer has a really solid kit for it, its main weapon really supports the trapper playstyle that the kit likes. Would it love to have a chip damage second kit with burst inkstorm? Yes. Would that make it the best backline in the game by far? Also yes. Does that mean its current kit is bad? No.
However I would like a new one.

I first started using reeflux as an all special charge missile spam weapon (in turf only I'm not that evil) but the main started growing on me. Ended up being my first 3 star, with tri stringer not long after. It's super mobile, paints very well, and those oneshots are crazy satisfying to land. Hope it gets a teeny tiny buff in the next patch, just enough to make people want to use it

Nah, if playing REEF-LUX aggressively is wrong then I don't want to be right. Tri-Stringer is one of my most used weapons and its fun to play a bit more on the offensive with the REEF-LUX than 'just' missile spam.

This is literally exactly how you're meant to play reef lux. Make it a qr weapon with special saver so after shooting missiles you can go in and potentially get a trade, then respawn to farm more instead of jumping off the map to start farming more

I'm currently a Reeflux main and I reached S+ with it. My playstyle is Missle spam, turf control, and one shot steal (I bring along ninja squid and swim speed to be smoosh enough). Now I am reaching a little bit of bottleneck. I am here to see how everybody else play this weapon competitively.

absolutely same, i used to be a hardcore charger main but the aggressive and risky playstyle of reeflux captured my heart😭😭

I adore the feel of the main weapon, and would love something a little more fun than just missiles on it
I feel like if they ever give reeflux burst bomb, it will be an incredibly powerful combo, maybe on par with carbon roller in terms of main and sub synergy.
As a person who is a 4 star reeflux player it’s painful to notice how much the weapon has fallen since I started playing In September/October

REEF-LUX is so hard to buff cause it really is one of the most pathetic main weapons I've ever seen, but you can't risk making double missiles viable in a team comp. I think just making the weapon more fun would be a better priority, so maybe remove the aerial charge penalty on it like squiffer?

Fr tho, i may not be the best reeflux out there, but i deeply believe that this weapon has some incredible potential in the right hands. This weapon is pretty much just Squiffer with better inking abilities, and a proper second kit would truly elevate this weapon’s usage and strength.

Every Splatoon 1 veteran has war flashbacks when they hear kraken, and it's hilarious
It is a good weapon, even if just for weirdos like me who equally main Splat Charger and Dapple Dualies, and love using chargers at close range. Like the charger, you need to hit the shot, but if you do, you win the fight. Like the Dapples, I like to use it for sharking and flanking. Unlike either, it can ink itself an escape route if it gets caught out of position. It also gets no respect; players don't run from it the way they do for chargers and dualies, so it gets more opportunities to slay.
I play it as a self-reliant slayer that turfs instead of skirmishing. You shouldn't expect to win a fight after you miss all three shots from a single charge, but you don't need anyone to back you up with turf in order to take a fight. It can be consistent if an enemy decides to chase it when it runs. It outranges most slayers, so I like to create distance, then suddenly turn and fire, repeating if necessary. If it's with another slayer/skirmisher, it's more reliable at catching enemies in its ink for a teammate to clean up, rather than skirmishing the way most players know it. At any rate, it's definitely more than its special weapon.
As someone who is inconsistent with the weapon, nothing gets me cackling more then getting that one shot kill with the reef-flux, I still love the weapon even without the missile spam
This weapon imo is underrated and even though I don't main this its was fun to get 4 stars on it even though I probably won't play it too much after that bc I have much better weapons and I'm trying to get 4 stars on one weapon of each class and 3 stars on all weapons. I honestly don't supportively play this weapon like you probably should bc I've enjoyed it aggressively and when you play it enough you kind of get used to the charge jump shots and you can pretty consistently hit shots so I could see myself playing this in x rank with a more aggressive kit. Pretty fun weapon tbh
Is this weapon supposed to be used similarly to a squiffer?
DUDE if you see this, you should focus less on the reeflux charge shot and more on painting the ground around opponents with the uncharged shot (ehich has more ink efficiency cuz u can swim after every shot and theres a pool of ur own ink you can dodge danger in too). Then when they are surrounded by ur ink either charge shot or do double jump shot w vertical arrows ... cuz u can shoot 2 shots before u touch ground and if both lands its close to a kill just need to shoot one more time after landing if tht.
Also curling bomb has creative uses ... u can throw it perpendicular to direction ur running while being chased and it counts as a dividing line that does hit dmg and explosive dmg if they run into it and slows cuz a line of ur ink ... giving u time to create space and 180 charge shot them if they dont follow or get a kill if they do.
Sometimes u can throw curling to get the small 30 hit first to make killing people easier. It can also be used to force people to hop out ink and expose their position or disrupt them from just swimming to catch up to objectives.
Basically this class can be obnoxious just gotta go in with a creative mind. It was my first weapon to 5 star and my 2nd best behind Undercover brella. And i made it to S+ week into playing splat 3 and i came from only playing sat 1 and going on hiatus. Reeflux i personally think is a cool weapon but i know anything with tenta missiles is deemed annoying asf. The weapon itself is awesome tho and i think missiles makes sense on it

i also use the tag Cheese when I play this game and I freaked out around 4 minutes when you killed the hydra and it said splatted cheese but I play buckets and never touch hydra so almost definitely not me

As someone who has played the reeflux and gotten over a thousand wins I can say dude has probably gotten more clips in this video than all my games combined😅
As a reef-lux user in training, I can confirm I shouldn’t be using the weapon that way, *_as I learned my lesson from being sniped by 4 scoped E-Liters in all directions_*

nahhhh im not for any of the negativity around this weapon. people will call anything bad just bc they specifically dont like it and dont want to try and improve with it, but i mained this weapon for literal MONTHS even after the missiles nerf because it genuinely could be good

I mained it for like 3 weeks at the start of the game, but I dropped it like as soon as I realized how much better and more versatile tri stringer is. It's not the worst, and missiles definitely give it a niche, but it definitely isn't that good a weapon. If it had a bit more paint on charge shot (and less on uncharged shot) and less midair charge time reduction, it might have an interesting squiffer/chip damage type playstyle, but for now it just isn't able to make use of its solid attributes. The only attribute it has that's solid and plays into the rest of the weapon well is its tap shot paint which is why it's only seen as a missile spammer right now.
If they reduced the tap shot paint and heavily buffed the charge shot paint then it would discourage playing passively and encourage going in more
Also, after watching this video and remembering what it felt like to play this weapon a bit better: I definitely don't think the problem with this weapon is people calling it bad because they don't like it. I actually think it's the opposite. When I mained this weapon at lower ranks, it was the most satisfying and fun weapon for me because of how satisfying landing one shots and painting was. Because of this, I ignored obvious weaknesses with it and argued that it was better than it actually was.
I think the problem is that people who play this weapon like it enough that they will claim it's better than it is because it's what they want to be true bcs of how fun it is

As a Reflux main, I appreciated you playing Reflux in different ways than the meta said it should be played(Specifically a missile spamming weapon)!
(P.S. Reflux with curling bomb isn't very useful, so I just use it as a "get off me" tool not necessarily a "get me in" tool.)

I really don't think this weapons is bad I think it just gets a bad name for itself because of it has missiles which is really unfair
if the tri stringer and reef lux got more range and better accuracy at full charge, i think they would be better main weapons. heck for reef it just need better accuracy because so often i only hit 2/3 of the bullets because of how precise you have to be
is accuracy not just dependent on your aim
@@charlot6590 there's a slight spread of the 3 bullet even at full charge, enough that being slightly off center (but still on target) will only land 2 out of the 3 bullet. its just a bit too punishing.

Yeah I think they wanted to make Reef-lux an aggressive stringer but because of it's paint and Missiles it got degraded into a missile-spam weapon

Reef lux was a good idea but with the current state of shooters its just outclassed as a main weapon by almost all of them.
