Haven't watched the video yet, but I think if the Snipewriter could charge up individual "shots" it would be better. Like, instead of having to charge up to full to get the 5 shots, each individual segment would charge. so you could charge up to two, three, or four segments, if that makes sense
That would be nice, but the Snipewritier's role does just seem to effectively be the E-Liter for people that aren't dead on with their aim. So effectively an E-Liter but need to land 2/5 shots instead of 1/1.
i think half charge giving you 2 shots would be a good compromise without being broken. would also be easier to implement and more visually clear because it could use the splatling/stringer 2 circle charge thing, 1 circle for 2 shots and 2 circles for 5 shots.

It's very strange. I have 4 stars on the Splat Charger, but I also really enjoy the Dapple Dualies. The thing that was easy to forget about the Snipewriter is that it's still important to aim each shot carefully. With a Splat Charger, you need to hit the one shot because you might not get another shot. With the Snipewriter, you need to hit two shots, so there is still not that much room for error. It's better to aim each shot carefully than to tap the button as fast as possible. Players new to chargers might like it because they can shoot more than once so they can keep aiming for a splat after they miss, but players who are used to chargers might forget that they still need to aim in their zeal to hit more than once; remember that it's still closer to a Charger than a Squeezer. The Snipewriter can also skirmish a little because even shots that miss can put out a full-length line of obstructive ink and the beam itself demands attention. This together with the damage that one shot can put out makes it good at midline damage support. This is where it should be to use its special as well. This last strength of the Snipewriter might fade as people get used to it, but since it doesn't one-shot, players tend to give it less respect than a Splat Charger. This is a double-edged sword. On one hand, the Snipewriter will get more opportunities for splats because enemies will keep going into its range while it's charged. On the other hand, it can't control an area with its presence alone. One more mechanical tip for the Snipewriter: I like to keep the fire button held down, even though I don't have to. This way, the action for firing is the same as for any other charger. Either way, it doesn't fire until you release the button, unlike every other semi-auto weapon. That was another thing that made it hard for me to use initially.
I'd be really interested to see them come out with a Snipewriter 3H that has 3 shots at like 75 damage per shot with burst bomb. Charge could be slower and shots more spread out, but with the burst combo potential I think it would be very interesting.
Honestly what it needs is a better kit. Almost every charger has some sort of answer or response, for a close-range engagement, be it a sub, special, or the weapon itself. Snipewriter has nothing in that regard and its overall kit feels disjointed and confused. Like, I can't figure out how its three parts are supposed to mesh together.
I think it would help it if you could store the charge like the other chargers, but it would deplete each charge 1 by 1 over the duration. You could pop out of the ink and maybe get at least 2-3 shots in, rather than being too strong with all 5 shots available this way.
I mained the pencil for about a week and I found that it's really gear and comp dependent. I found that run speed and specail power up are rly good subs and that splash in a comp is a nessecity making this weapon a bit comp dependent. But if the pencil were to get a better kit it would be in amazing shape.
I think that the Snipewriter is supposed to be the charger that helps slot itself in with chip damage comps. The way I see it is that it's a bamboo that wants to play like a hydra.
You mention learning the Big Swig will be easier and yes, it really is in my opinion. I've used it a lot and think I'm getting it, the trick is horizontal flicks cover a lot more turf than rolling in shorter time, so you just need to get good with being able to swap between that and straight rolling away akin to a paint brush dash when trouble comes. It's not a weapon for direct melee splatting, but can be used to really poke and pepper them with splash damage, easily shutting out escape routes mid fight so you can literally just splat them as they struggle. But you *can* melee them, just it has to be a combo of quickly pop up, melee+turn (to hit them with the wide edge of the roller).
oh my god. i was so excited to try this weapon, but in practice its been SO hard to use. but since you mentioned it... i think ive been flicking all my shots XD i should try it again with that in mind and see if it works out any better. i hadnt even considered that i might be flicking lol
I do love the range. It's more than a Splat charger actually. But, out of all the chargers I don't use Bamboo or Writer often. I main chargers but I need to explore the 2 hitters more. I rather miss the single shot and recharge. But then I'm lacking in my weapon type preference lol
I play chargers too and I like it. The biggest problem for me is, that it can not hold to charge with swimming, so you have to walk or must recharge it. The range is more of a Splat Charger Scope and has the range adventage above a Splat Charger. I don't like the Bamboo with it's range and kill speed. But overall I prefer the Splat Charger, it's so much more satisfying. 😁
I definitely need to use it more. I'm more of an Eliter user (ever since S1 really). But over time I learned to diversify. In fact I try not to hate Squiffer. Till this day I still get adamant using it. Especially since it's range is less than Gootuber (I tested it one day). I definitely will practice more. How it will go, well... Fingers crossed. But it does feel fun.
i love that as the video goes on you can tell you got more comfortable with the weapon. its really satisfying to see you pull it off as well as you do considering its definitely really tricky to get used to. awesome video as always, dude 👍
I also had fun with the Snipewriter. And I think it adds a really unique spin to the charger class. But I am struggling to find a reason I would choose this over a splat charger or e-liter, which can one shot. Or a niche this fills that those two do not. Anyone have any ideas here? It has a fast strafing speed, yes. But the charger and e-liter have stored charge, meaning they can be just as mobile while holding a charge, if not more. I got a LOT of assists with it. And thermal ink on it is neat for those opponents you can only hit once.
I still see the strength in the weapon as an alternative to Hydra. Just have to remember to use the Sprinkler on visible jumps, as well as it and Cooler as basically a wall to peek around
give it 70 damage per shot, and give it either line marker, burst bomb, or torpedo. since linemarker can deal damage and can detect enemies and combo with the 70 damage. burst bomb for painting feet and walls, and for combos. torpedo so you can see people, do damage, or distract to get the double tap.
I don’t think it’s that the worst but it has a really high skill ceiling and it is really difficult to learn. And I like to use it more like a splattershot pro so I’m mid range so you can support your teammates.
I just wish this thing had a better kit man, i love the main weapon and tacticooler isnt awful on it, but having a movement sub or even something like beacons to double down on its support role I feel would elevate it to new levels.
To me I think it needs to either charge faster or keep its charge in ink because this weapon Is really hard to use and to think it could be "broken" is not even an option when maybe 1% of the player base would even use it compared to the e liter. It should get a burst bomb and bubbler, wave breaker or ink vac, no aggressive special like stamp or ink jet because you will get smacked as you end your special. I'm good with it on certain maps but the splatterscope claps with with its current kit.
Since I'm a Splatling main, I've been using the Snipewriter kind of the same way, and it was better. I totally tricked my mind into not thinking that it is not a charger. When I use it like a charger, I keep on forgetting that you need more than one shot.
I think ultimately the snipewriter isn't competing with the hydra, splat charger, or E-litre for rapid-killing deadly area denial. I'm thinking it's competing more with the Jet Squelcher or Explosher for the role of a flexible, support-focused anchor. its larger hitboxes and multiple shots make it better suited for poking and weakening evasive targets like dualies and brushes, and it notably can handle torpedoes being chucked at it a lot better than its contemporaries. 60 damage is also a pretty decent damage comboing number, as any torpedo player can tell you. More than anything, its kit is the problem. Splatoon 3 has really struggled with support backline's kits, though, besides the Explosher the rest of them have super sketchy kits (seriously what is that Bloblobber kit?), and the Snipewriter is no exception. Sprinkler and tacticooler is such a weird combo that hasn't been working well for the dynamo but here it is on a weapon that likes it even LESS.
Snipewriter is good for extremely quickly laying down a wall of ink, great for supporting people who like to climb walls for flanking. I actually like tacticooler with it, but it’s pure support with the current kit. Like you can quickly exert a lot of interesting map pressure and help rapidly tilt your teammates 1v1s in their favor, either by paint control or chip damage. Sprinkler is damn near worthless though, but you can pop tacticooler quickly both as a passive support, a slight bit of pop up cover. I wish it had disruptor and bubbler though. Or something more aggressive like torpedo/killer wail.
My aim is pretty spotty so I sadly can't really use this thing. I usually get my kills off the quantity of shots I can fire close to an enemy, not the quality of my aim. But since each shot only does 60 I can't rely on hitting 1/5 shots like with a Splatterscope. Plus the set doesn't lend itself to combat well...
Hype to watch this video 🙌🏾 also dude! If you click on Judd enough times his exclamation point goes away eventually and he stops wanting to talk to you If that bothers you any
The one thing I like about Snipewriter is how much it paints for a Charger. On top of how satisfying it is to snipe anyone with the weapon, on top of how cool it looks.
The ability to almost instantly make a corridor or wall of ink (especially behind either a teammate retreating or to trap an enemy on the run) is super fun to mess with.
My main issue with this sniper is the 2 kill shot - most players charge and wait a few seconds before shooting (if in backlines) so would of been fully charged anyway. Assuming you miss the first shot, by the time you shoot 2 more times (and hit twice) you could recharge a different sniper. Good concept but the 2 shot makes it almost non playable compared to other snipes
I've used the snipewriter a little at the beginning of the season and I really enjoyed it. Something about it fits my playstyle and I find it a really, really fun weapon
I personally love the sniperwriter; based on experience, you have to use it like a long range splattershot, it takes 2 bullets to kill someone, sometimes 3 shots if you barely graze them. You have to play it like the firepin charger as well; hide behind objects when charging. You don't always have to shoot all 5 shots, gotta make sure to move around or swim away to safety. It's a good weapon for splatzones and Clamblitz for me personally, turf works too with it but it'll a lil bit more difficult 😅 I don't main chargers or snipers, i have played all snipers every now and then. so with my sniper experience, i play it like a mixture of any splattershot/firepin charger (w/out the flicking)* 👀 it helps for me a lot;
i think a squeezer mechanic would be cool where the first shot does enough damage to kill. that way, the rest of the shots you charge are more like insurance to make up for when you miss. it would probably need a little bit of a range nerf or something to keep it from being a better Splatcharger at that point since the only other real downsides it has are the kit and no stored charges. maybe the first shot is a normal but slower charging charger shot that cant be stored, and the rest of the charged shots are faster, weaker taps as backup. you still have to commit to your shots due to no charge storage and slower change time, so there's more of a penalty for messing up and you cant just play it like a splat charger, but you get the benefit of being able to get fast double/triple kills and another chance without needing to charge again if you miss
A good way to balance this weapon should be to reduce the charging time base on the remaining shot you have before swim. (More shot remain = less charging time)
It plays a little more agressively then alot of chargers, bamboo being an exception, if you stand too far back your shot will leave before you can get a second one off, as happened here a few times. With a better kit I think the weapon is solid, it's already a fine main weapon.
discovering that dude lives in london and east London being brought up in a dude video is something i did not expect as an east londoner, i can confirm that i hate it here
This weapon is designed for the people who just tap shot the eliter lol but it fits a very particular niche where it can get multikills faster than any other charger so the better you are at getting in situations for multikills to happen and landing every shot you take, the better you'll do with this particular charger
The struggle for me when I try to use snipewriter I play it so much like how you would with bamboozle I forget it has a long range then end up dying cos I got too close but if I stayed further away I probably would have got the kill
Also just thought: Splatoon 2 was like "what if we made a Splatling where you have the mobility of Mini and damn near range and dps of Hydra?" and yes it was broken then they nerfed it into the ground. Flingza is "what if you were as mobile as Carbon but could also have the range and paint of Dynamo?" Squeezer is "what if you have a non viable for killing paint mode and a laser accurate three shot tap shot mode that outranges Splattershot Pro?" Splatoon 3 literally was like "what if we make brand new weapons that are nowhere as good as the worst weapons in the class????" Lmao tell me you pick snipewriter over bamboo or goo tuber? Who picks Nova over Pro? Who picks the swig over Dynamo?
I think the Hydra has the closest Playstyle to the Snipewriter. As DUDE mentioned, if you try to play it as a regular Charger, it's worse cause you need 2 shots. If you try to play as a Bamboo, it's worse cause it's waaay less mobile.
Came to a similar conclusion after messing around with the thing - it's not really a weapon for aggro play or calculated backlining, it's more of a weapon to lay down suppressive fire and deny enemies ink coverage (since it also paints fast and far). Its biggest sin so far is an abysmal kit, but otherwise snipewriter has some potential.
@@JennyTheNerdBat Yeah, we just gotta figure HOW to play the weapon. I always bring up Nautilus; when it was first released, the community just thought it was an inferior Heavy Splatling with a gimmick. Turned out to be arguably the best Splatling in S2 once people put some time into it and realize its strengths.
I think my least favorite part of this weapon is that you're incentivised to get your five shots out fast, so I always find myself tapping my controller too hard and messing up my aim. Somehow I don't have this same issue with Squeezer.
I can imagine what you think about it. I mean, your aim is so good, so for you, for charger it is only really matter if the opponent got shot, because charger is killing opponent in one shoot. but this weapon is more used for support. it is used mainly for scaring people to make them harder to fight your teammates
Me finding this easier than any other charger while Dude says its the hardest one makes me think its because I main BPS and BPS is quite similar in playstyle.
It really depends on the player. It’s odd for traditional snipers who are used to hitting each shot going 1 for 1. But for those who can’t aim very well with sniping the 2 out of 5 shots is better odds
I find the Snipewriter to be awkward for me since I like being very mobile as a charger (even with E-Liter). Its kinda weird walking around with charges... It does kinda feel like a Splatling tho so I've been trying to play it as more of a Splatling and it kinda works out.
I think the reason the snipewriter feels so weird is that for every other charger you take shots by RELEASING the fire button, but for snipewriter (at least after the first shot) you have to tap to fire. So even though it's a charger it almost feels more like a H-3 or a squeezer when you're actually firing. It's a bit unintuitive at first, but realizing this difference has definitely made the weapon feel better for me!
@@samuelstephens6904 I did notice that you can hold and release each shot as well, but my point was that tap firing the last 4 shots feels weird. I'm glad that there's an alternate option though! Holding and releasing all 5 shots instead of tap firing the last 4 also helps for being mindful when firing and not just spamming and hoping you hit something lol
Nintendo just went out and said: "Our M1 Garands are different" with this one For me personally it's pretty fun, but the kit is pretty lackluster and I kinda wish we could store the charge, maybe at the cost of one of the remaining shots. Edit: Also, this thing is a beast in Salmon Run. Marooner's Bay gets much easier with Snipewriter.
Should be able to hold charges between swimming. Don't know if that would make it more balanced but would definitely make it feel better to use. Would then feel more like a BR
Got it in salmon run and I have no idea how to use this weapon. It’s so awkward. Charge is not fast like bamboo. It’s not strong like any of the other chargers. The charging speed is so long. It only charges 5 shots. And you can’t store any of these shots. Like everything that made the other chargers usable are not applicable on this charger.

I wish there wasn't a limit for the tap speed. Like if you tap faster it would shoot faster that be nice

DUDE: "I eat my Dude Flakes with hot milk"

They were working together the whole time!
It's not a sniper rifle, its a designated marksman rifle. It's the squid version of the M1 Garand.
I feel like snipewriter needs three things:
1. Half charge gives you two shots.
2. An actually good kit.
3. Charge hold that spend a shot.
Hype to watch this video 🙌🏾 also dude! If you click on Judd enough times his exclamation point goes away eventually and he stops wanting to talk to you
If that bothers you any
The one thing I like about Snipewriter is how much it paints for a Charger. On top of how satisfying it is to snipe anyone with the weapon, on top of how cool it looks.
The ability to almost instantly make a corridor or wall of ink (especially behind either a teammate retreating or to trap an enemy on the run) is super fun to mess with.
Ran into a guy earlier who used Snipewriter with Thermal Ink. Pretty heard trying to escape him after being shot once.
I can see the Snipewriter working well with wavebreaker, tri strike or wail. I don’t get how the Snipewriter works, I’m gonna practice to find out.
My main issue with this sniper is the 2 kill shot - most players charge and wait a few seconds before shooting (if in backlines) so would of been fully charged anyway. Assuming you miss the first shot, by the time you shoot 2 more times (and hit twice) you could recharge a different sniper.
Good concept but the 2 shot makes it almost non playable compared to other snipes
this is one of those 200 trillion IQ weapons. like that Nozzle weapon.
i really think the snipewriter should have the hold charge when you swim mechanic, it's too weak to not have it
I've used the snipewriter a little at the beginning of the season and I really enjoyed it. Something about it fits my playstyle and I find it a really, really fun weapon
I personally love the sniperwriter; based on experience, you have to use it like a long range splattershot, it takes 2 bullets to kill someone, sometimes 3 shots if you barely graze them. You have to play it like the firepin charger as well; hide behind objects when charging. You don't always have to shoot all 5 shots, gotta make sure to move around or swim away to safety. It's a good weapon for splatzones and Clamblitz for me personally, turf works too with it but it'll a lil bit more difficult 😅
I don't main chargers or snipers, i have played all snipers every now and then. so with my sniper experience, i play it like a mixture of any splattershot/firepin charger (w/out the flicking)* 👀 it helps for me a lot;
i think a squeezer mechanic would be cool where the first shot does enough damage to kill. that way, the rest of the shots you charge are more like insurance to make up for when you miss. it would probably need a little bit of a range nerf or something to keep it from being a better Splatcharger at that point since the only other real downsides it has are the kit and no stored charges. maybe the first shot is a normal but slower charging charger shot that cant be stored, and the rest of the charged shots are faster, weaker taps as backup. you still have to commit to your shots due to no charge storage and slower change time, so there's more of a penalty for messing up and you cant just play it like a splat charger, but you get the benefit of being able to get fast double/triple kills and another chance without needing to charge again if you miss
I found this to be a great thermal ink weapon
yeah, you definitely can't play this weapon like a bamboo
"Play it like a Hydra" was actually pretty wise
You make it look like this weapon is actually pretty easy to use, you're so cracked man
Splashwall and Big Bubbler would be the ultimate kit for Snipewriter.
I feel like if you want a further ranged charger, just use and e liter
Sorta feels like a weak blaster that you have to charge
A good way to balance this weapon should be to reduce the charging time base on the remaining shot you have before swim. (More shot remain = less charging time)
Ngl. Everytime I use this thing I kept thinking Im playing Bamboo lol
I think it could be better in comp to damage and mark teams for someone else to kill faster. it puts things in one shot for a lot of weapons.
It plays a little more agressively then alot of chargers, bamboo being an exception, if you stand too far back your shot will leave before you can get a second one off, as happened here a few times. With a better kit I think the weapon is solid, it's already a fine main weapon.
*than a lot
@@SweetMelaninn my bad I was tired
the best parts are both the inkzooka cancels and dualies' slaying :D
discovering that dude lives in london and east London being brought up in a dude video is something i did not expect
as an east londoner, i can confirm that i hate it here
This weapon is designed for the people who just tap shot the eliter lol
but it fits a very particular niche where it can get multikills faster than any other charger
so the better you are at getting in situations for multikills to happen and landing every shot you take, the better you'll do with this particular charger
Dude went from idk about this then copule seconds later,Bros goin like he's been playing this pencil for like 3 months
The main thing that's bad is "takes forever to charge, unscoped... cannot hold charge" RIP
When I was using this thing I put thermal ink on. My thinking was “I’m not gonna kill if I hit a shot so I wanna know where they go to hit another”
With thermal ink it’s kind of like a better version of line marker/angle shooter. Tag ‘em and bag ‘em.
I feel like this is the practice sniper so you can get better at hitting shots but also get something done when you miss a shot your two
The struggle for me when I try to use snipewriter I play it so much like how you would with bamboozle I forget it has a long range then end up dying cos I got too close but if I stayed further away I probably would have got the kill
But a bamboozler isn't that mobile either.
This thing not having a charge hold really killed it for me
It feels unusable
Why would I use this over a regular charger
What is BPS? I've never heard that acronym before
@a person who may or may not exist Ballpoint Splatling I believe, correct me if I'm wrong op.
@@splashofcolor8130 ohhhhh im just stupid lol
@@splashofcolor8130 correct
It really depends on the player. It’s odd for traditional snipers who are used to hitting each shot going 1 for 1. But for those who can’t aim very well with sniping the 2 out of 5 shots is better odds
The Snipewriter can damage the enemy so your team has a fighting chance. That's what I use it for anyways
I find the Snipewriter to be awkward for me since I like being very mobile as a charger (even with E-Liter). Its kinda weird walking around with charges...
It does kinda feel like a Splatling tho so I've been trying to play it as more of a Splatling and it kinda works out.
I like this weapon very interesting and I also wanna learn it
I think the reason the snipewriter feels so weird is that for every other charger you take shots by RELEASING the fire button, but for snipewriter (at least after the first shot) you have to tap to fire. So even though it's a charger it almost feels more like a H-3 or a squeezer when you're actually firing. It's a bit unintuitive at first, but realizing this difference has definitely made the weapon feel better for me!
That’s actually incorrect. Every shot only fires _after_ releasing the the trigger button.
I think it needs to do 70 damage a shot so it can assist more consistently and/or had six shots a charge
Nintendo just went out and said: "Our M1 Garands are different" with this one
For me personally it's pretty fun, but the kit is pretty lackluster and I kinda wish we could store the charge, maybe at the cost of one of the remaining shots.
Edit: Also, this thing is a beast in Salmon Run. Marooner's Bay gets much easier with Snipewriter.
I used it today for the first time, got 2 super sick kills on the first game, and then I did nothing else, I'm sticking to the stringer
People are wilding this thing is great lol, I'm convinced that content creators just say it's bad to clickbait people in at this point
It's not particularly bad but there are maps that it's so good like minced meat but most maps are bad for it.
2:36 does #1 damage tacker suit you?
Should be able to hold charges between swimming. Don't know if that would make it more balanced but would definitely make it feel better to use. Would then feel more like a BR
Use run speed up and become the 5-shot Ballpoint
For what it's worth, I quite like it in SR.
Try that with mothership, it’s super op
Boom headshot, BOOM headshot, BOOM HEADSHOT
For some reason I thought the thumbnail was talking abt bamboo
It’s basically just a nerfed grizzco charger lol.
If the weapon’s gimmick is to hold multiple charges and release them when the player wants then the weapon needs way better strafe speed.
It’s so slow. When you are getting outmaneuvered by E-liters, you know it’s not good.
Where can we get the Firefin beanie for Chill Season IRL 😎
anyone who says Snipewriter is the worst charger is off their gourd lmao. goo tuber having missiles didn't magically make it good
HEY DUDE I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCHH!!
My experience with trying it is...I like it but you have no way of flushing people out of hiding spots so corners are your weakness.
