    Here is a list of all significant changes since the release of this guide!
    7.1 Patch Notes:
    Nothing for Vipers!
    7.05 Patch Notes:
    MAJOR CHANGES. Dread Fangs and Dread Maw have been renamed to Reaving Fangs and Reaving Maw and the Noxious Gnash debuff has been REMOVED. Instead, the Steel Fangs and Maw starters give a buff similar to the finisher buffs, that make your next Reaving starter stronger. Reaving starters similarly boost the Steel starters. These kinds of buffs, for both starters and finishers also last 60 seconds instead of 40. Dreadwinder and Pit of Dread have also been renamed to Vicewinder and Vicepit to similarly reflect the removal of Noxious Gnash as a mechanic. MOST of the Viper Toolkit has received significant potency buffs to compensate for this.
    "WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MY ROTATION?":
    You now alternate Reaving Fangs and Steel Fangs as your combo starter. You no longer need to worry about Noxious Gnash before using Vicewinder and can simply go for it whenever. I still recommend starting a fight with getting the speed buff up as soon as possible before going into the glaive combos.
    7.01 Patch Notes:
    Serpent's Tail and Twinfang/Twinblood related single target melee range oGCDs had their range increased from 3 to 5 yalms. This makes it slightly easier to fit these oGCDs as you step away from the target.
    This means Death Rattle, Twinfang Bite, Twinblood Bite, First Generation, Second Generation, Third Generation, and Fourth Generation.
    That is all!

    The amount of similar Action names is.. something Definetly fun to listen to
    I'll never remember them like for Nin and Sam..
    Thanks for the Guide, picked Viper up yesterday and felt like I was missing something. Feels weird to not have more buttons on Lvl 80, but it's something interesting and unique.

      I hope you enjoy viper at least!
      The good news is that MOST of the action names will never matter for you beyond learning the job initially! 🤣
      I have to reference the tooltips every time to know what combination of flank, hind, bane, sting, strike and fang I need for this action name 😂

      For my head there is no big difference between perfectly different Japanese names that I just don't understand to a bunch of words I do understand glued together in many different ways. It quickly stops trying and gets to "glowy button 1,2,..."

    Glaive is such a fun word. I'm glad you used it instead of the official "dual blade" and "twin blade" that I'm still having trouble telling apart

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  4 месяца назад +4

      I guess twin blade would've been more accurate, but I've been used to calling double bladed weapons like this glaives for almost decades thanks to WoW! 🤣 I'm glad it works!

    • @LonganoCantCant
      @LonganoCantCant 4 месяца назад

      Yeah but that’s not a glaive.

    • @serket6807
      @serket6807 18 дней назад

      Glaives are a type of polearm, dual blades are typically 2 swords (shortswords, long swords, sabers, etc) wielded in separate hands, twinblades are typically 2 blades linked and held in the center like darth mauls lightsaber.

    I really did not expect to fall for Viper as hard as I did, but it really impressed me with just how both intuitive and fun it feels. Now I imagine it’s probably a pain for those who have poor latency or find it simply too busy - they did address that in a recent notes for the upcoming point one patch - but I still think it’s honestly simply marvelous.

    Well in the black mage video I did say I enjoy black mages changed but boy viper is too good. It's like summoner but melee but faster and more fun! I always wanted to do melee but their positionals was a pain. Sadly RPR was boring so now viper is the perfect melee class I needed. Though I hope they don't actuly change much when they want to fix the business cus I understand where they are coming from but I do hope they keep the fast pace part of the burst.
    Edited: Forgot to say i oove your videos. Games with skills with a wall of words are always hard for me to understand even after testing. But thanks to yoy i understand them all and for all the jobs too! Your videos are the only ones i understand cus of how detailed you explain and you show them while executing them which allows me to understand openers.

    You answered my questions about Steel Fangs/Steel Maw, about when would it be valuable to use them instead of Dread Fangs/Dread Maw. I didn't factor in that the 10% damage increase pretty much accounts for the lost potency between the two combo starters - even if I already had a feeling Steel Fangs/Maw just isn't that great for starting a combo intuitively.
    Really enjoying the job, it just feels great to play, even if my eyes are very much glued to the hotbar and covered in all the spell effects hahah

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh

    One thing to note, because of the slow GCDs, it's actually possible to safely triple weave with them, typically with a role action.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  4 месяца назад +1

      Maybe uncoiled fury, but by the time you have your speed buff up the rest of them are down to 2.55 so you still need a very solid connection to triple weave there! 😊 But yes you are right!

    I played around a little bit with Picto and Viper.
    Picto I feel I mostly have figured out. Viper, no clue.
    The job gauge is poorly explained in game. You see the dual blades change to different colours, but the game doesn't tell you what they represent. Even when you read the job gauge description it just says 'use the gauge to figure out your combo'.
    Gee, thanks game....

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh

      @@TaranTatsuuchi I agree, it is one of my least favorite melee jobs on the basis of filler gcds because the same buttons change into different positionals, a huge mistake made by the job designers. VPR for me has Reawaken, a little fun with the strong ranged attack, and nothing else.

    sorry if this was mentioned in the video, how beginner friendly is viper if you want to learn a dps? :') if not, any suggestions for dps that arent very complicated rotation wise? i tried pct and learned it for a bit, but i think im not able to grasp into casters because its hard for me in ex fights and so on ;; (like dodging and stuff becomes hard)
    another question if i may- how can i get into exs and savage content as someone who never did them before. except for today i cleared my first ex, but at the cost of performing really poorly at the end and upsetting the random group i joined 🥲so im conflicted and anxious what i really should do from now on..

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  4 месяца назад +1

      I think viper is on the friendlier side for your first melee dps. But summoner is certainly an easier dps at large, and reaper I would say is easier for melee due to the slower pace overall 😊
      Getting started on hard content: best you can do is practice practice practice your rotation. You don't have to be perfect but you have to know what you need to do when you enter combat. You see how I list openers and rotation advice, you need to know these things well enough that you can do that decently well while also dealing with other stuff, like a boss fight 😅
      If you want to prepare better, get the best gear you can and make sure to enter with high item level, high quality food that makes sense (like the currently popular vegetable soup). Consider watching guides on the fight you are entering as well! 😊

    Maybe this is a strange question, but: assuming a bossfight with a normal duration (so, not 20 minute Ultimate content :P), how much of a damage loss is it in the long run to clip your GCD a little bit with every run of the Dreadwinder combo, vs single-weaving with no clipping? With MCH at least I don't HAVE to double weave during Hypercharge, but here it is mandatory and it's really putting me off the job... :S

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  4 месяца назад +1

      It of course depends on how much you clip it.
      If I were you I'd still rather do the double weave than not, otherwise it feels like some part of the job is missing 😰
