LOVE Vince saying he thought he'd "made it" at 18, being able to pay the rent. The entire rest of his career has been a blessing, and he knows it. So humble, and always learning to be more of an artist, more perfect.
I love the Eagles so much- I was heartbroken when Glenn died - and didn’t want anyone else to even try to sing his songs- but the respect that Vince has for Glenn made it more of him honoring the late and wonderful Eagle- and although I wish it was Glenn singing- I’m so glad it’s someone like Vince - God bless them both 🌹
Totally agree with all you’ve said. I have loved both my entire life and miss Glenn but Vince is doing a great job, not trying to be Glenn but doling his own type of music and definitely hitting it head on!
Vince is not only an amazing musician, songwriter, and vocalist but he's kind and humble. He's a total class act. It's too bad more superstars aren't like him.
Vince has always been a favorite of mine-both vocally and as a guitar player, and he’s such a humble, likeable guy too. He plays very tastefully, always just the right amount, and live he really cuts loose. Awesome! I’d love to meet him…
Vince is a super talent and should never be nervous, but the fact that he does shows his genius and respect for music and the people that create it. He will go down in history as one of the true American Masters 👍
I have been a fan of Vince Gill from way back in the Pure Prairie League days. I knew one day he was going to make it big and was so glad to see him succeed. He is a very talented individual.
My favorite artist of all time is Brian Wilson, and Vince Gill is in my top 10. To hear Vince speak of Brian's music with such respect warms my heart and makes me proud of the incredible body of work Brian gave the world. And for those who haven't heard the work of Brian Wilson/Beach Boys after 1966 please do yourself the incredible favor of checking it out. It's not often heard because it was not commercially successful, but much of it is absolutely mind boggling in its depth and beauty. Thanks for another winner, Joe. I SO appreciate the content you are making available to the world. Someday I hope to come to Nashville and perhaps have a beer or cola with you!
Is there a more genuinely nice person than Vince Gill? It's particularly striking after decades of "stardom" that he's been capable of remaining so grounded and humble. Extraordinary example for us all. You can tell a lot about a man by the way he acts when he has power.
"the darkness of this fallen world". Unplug and go outside. You'll find that all the garbage that we are being fed is what makes you feel that. The world and the people (the vast majority) are wonderful and fine.
how can ANYONE not just love Vince Gill? The guy is a legendary triple threat, and his 10 plus years of hosting the CMA awards was classic Vinnie. He is just amazing in all of his endeavors. Listening to him talk about his path to his position, is also enjoyable. Yeah, I've been a fan of VG for decades. Rock on Mr. Gill.
I don't know who the interviewer is but I like him. I remember buying a Vince Gill CD on the way on a camping trip. I'd heard of him. Good music on a camping trip is always good. I was a fan right off.
Go rest high on that mountain was my grandfather's favorite song. He lost a son to an accident at the very young age of 7. My grandfather and grandmother both have grieved for years but now they are finally reunited. I'll never forget the day i walked in at my grandparents and papa was listening to this and i just hugged him and we both wept bitterly. I'll never forget that as long as i live. I thank the Lord for all those years with them
I had always liked Vince and finally went to a concert of his in 93/94sh. The last 20-30 minutes he cut loose on his guitar and I was absolutely amazed. I have seen most of the greats throughout the years going back to 69 or so and Vince can pretty well hang with all of them.
@Leslie Goodman-Malamuth I have seen him a few times with Chet. They were pretty close and Chets wife too. He has a few of Chets guitars and his wife gifted Vince one of them. He's got an amazing collection!
I’ve loved Vince for a long, long time.... He is the epitome of Triple Threat....writes, plays, and sings at a level perfect 10 in all 3 categories. One of the most talented people in the history of the world.
Sad that Vince and Janice could not continue. Respect him as a real talent and it is nice to see him open that Heart and speak about his career. Love this episode about a humble man with a gift
Thanks Sharon. That was extremely kind of you to say. My hope when I was putting the shows together with the booth we sit at was to try and bring our viewers into our conversation/interview as the third guest, I very happy you kinda felt that way watching Vince and I talk. Best, Joe
Great talent, and very humble as you say. And a great story teller. Oh, I think I think he married well. This guy is on the mark. Go Vince. Now I have to look up those musicians that I don't know. No, not Elton or Brian :)
The Beach Boys were my favorite band back in the Sixties. I saw them many times. The Warmth of The Sun was one of my favorites songs. When you sang it on the Tribute to Brian Wilson, I cried when I heard you sing it. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍💖
Vince is so humble, admitting he's not expecting to be the best in every group, but learning and improving. He turned out to be as good as everybody at EVERTHING. Talent has no end when you never stop using it, and never stop learning.
he's a professional instrumentalist first, and a singer 2nd, and a money-making star 3rd. Many other things come before the 3rd one but it's been said that people only want to read two lines of comments on youtube before they skip it.
Those days back in the early 90's when I was in college in Las Cruces going out country dancing 2 or 3 nights a week are some of the happiest and carefree of my life. I remember 2 songs the most from that time, Shameless, and When I Call Your Name. The first time I heard Shameless on the radio, I told my girlfriend, that song is going to change Country music, and I was an aficionado back then. It really did. Those two songs would bring tears to my eyes I remember clearly. Vince Gill, you were right there with Garth Brooks in my eyes. You have the most perfect vibrato, and most effortless high register in Country music in the past 30 years. Many thanks for the memories you have been part of.
Great interview with Vince. I remember moving to Nashville in 1992 as an aspiring musician and drummer . He released whenever I call your name around that time and it hit me like a freight train. The lyrical melody was so deeply felt and understood.
Another great interview Joe. Just loved the line from Brian Wilson saying they never did it live because it was too hard. Vince is a great talent and a hell-of-a nice and humble guy. Can’t wait for pt 3. Thank you!
My wife and I saw Vince Gill about 5 years ago and it was amazing. He had his daughter sing with him and she was great too and then Bob Seger showed up at the end. One of my favorite shows. He seems like a class act. You too, Joe! Thanks for everything you do.
Recently I watched that performance of Vince doing "Surf's Up" on RUclips and I was blown away. I had not previously seen this interview and found it by chance while browsing. There's very few people who can take on a very difficult challenge like that, and then go on to do so many other different things in his career. Whether it's bluegrass or country or becoming a new member of the Eagles, working as a guitar sideman or being a singer---- Vince Gill is a really talented and special artist.
Joe, I have never had as much respect for an artist as I do now after watching this interview. For someone at Vince Gill's level to be thrilled to be still playing sessions...to share with us times when he felt "over his head"...to say he thinks of himself as a musician first...what a fine man, a man of integrity, artistic excellence and humility. I think I'll have to pay whatever the H man charges next tour around just to hear him play with that superstar band.
My wife and I had the very great pleasure of listening to Vince several years ago on our (so far) only visit to Nashville, at the Grand Ole Opry. Thanks, Vince!
Damn Joe! Another excellent interview! As the kid who spent countless hours reading liner notes (remember those?) on every LP I could get my hands on, this is just fascinating to me. Vince is such a “real” person and you are so comfortable in your role that this is a real treat.
2nd! Can't wait for part # 3,thank you Joe! every time you guys mentioned a song i paused it, went and watched that song and came back to watch the rest of this interview.
I had the honor to meet Vince in Sonora, California at the Tuolumne County Fairgrounds in July, 1990 when he was touring in support of When I Call Your Name. His bus had broken down and he was late for the gig. He encored twice as I recall, the first for the title track for which he received a standing ovation. I was blown away by the response, and realized that the man's career was exploding. On this tour he was already debuting the songs Look At Us, and also Pocket Full Of Gold, which also received very enthusiastic reactions from the audience that night. I got to hang out with him at two other gigs on that leg of the tour; some of the best memories of my life.
Not having grown up listening to so called country music was a real barrier but listening to Vince Gill brought me around. These stories make you appreciate the talent of these Nashville cats.
Don't worry, Vince. You can hang with Brian Wilson, Sting, or....... anybody!! You're a top-shelf musician, singer, the whole enchilada!! At the same time, I still love your humility, despite having an awesome career and awesome chops!! You rock, mister!! Thanks for sharing your talent with us!!
That. Was. Awesome! That had to be the fastest 20 minutes on RUclips. Great, great interview. Vince is such a nice guy and Joe you always ask the right questions. Thanks so much!
Great stuff. Saw Vince with the Eagles in Vegas at The Hotel California gig. Met him before the show and he makes you feel like you’ve been friends with him for years. Thanks for the interview
Mr. Gill really is that humble... I met him a few times in the late 90's and early 2000's. He is the same even when the camera is not on. A good decent person who values others.
Terrific interview Joe! Vince is a very humble guy. However, when it comes to raw musical talent, he is right up there at the top of the list. There are very few musicians that can sing & play guitar like Vince.
Vince is one of the greatest entertainers to ever come along. Sadly Nashville almost lost him like they have lost so many others. I'll never understand why they do this. It can't be a good business practice. I think Vince Gill is the greatest entertainer to ever hit Nashville. I hope Vince keeps doing what he is doing. God bless you, Vince Gill.
I can hear Vince singing harmony and playing guitar in many songs with other artists. He never overrides the singer or musicians. His subtly is beautiful music to my ears
This is one of the best interviews of any musician I have ever seen. Joe really has a great way making everybody he interviews feel so comfortable and he makes the audience feel like we are all sitting on the living room couch together and makes you feel like family; haven't quite seen that with anybody else and I love every single interview he does but this one was extra special. I was raised on rock and roll and in my 50s now so I still had an appreciation and exposure to everything and I am just now starting to appreciate everything Vince Gill has accomplished. Just his rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with Larry Knechtel (R.I.P) at piano, he should be made an honorary member of The Wrecking Crew. Pure inspiration and still so damn humble! Peace, Bob M.
Wow Joe, "this is deep" - what an understatement by Vince when he talked about Surfs Up! I've just watched a video of the 2001 Brian Wilson tribute gig at Radio City Music Hall when Vince sang that beautiful song. My God what a voice! What an extraordinary performance! Deep respect to Vince. PS the bit about Brian Wilson saying to Vince, in the wings, after the performance, that they never did that song live because it was too hard was just wonderful! Joe, just keep these treasures coming man! Especially during strange times like this when musicians are being starved of gigs, it is so wonderful to be reminded of beautiful music and gifted musicians.
They actually had done it live in '71, when it was released on the Surf's Up album. It was a major event at Carnegie Hall - the grand unveiling of the legendary unreleased Smile album song, complete with strings and french horns. It is true that after that, you never heard it live throughout the rest of the 70s, 80s, 90s. I was there in 2001 for the Brian tribute. Listening to VInce was great. Since that time, especially with the release of Brian's solo version of Smile in Oct 2004, Brian and his band do perform the song regularly. It's also been done by Jeff Beck back in 2005, which led to him combining with Brian and tour in 2013.
I'm not into modern country music. I barely knew who Vince Gill was. Then about a week ago I saw his cover of Surfs Up with David. WOW. If you haven't seen this, search it out here on YT. I instantly became a Vince Gill fan. I've been sitting here for five minutes trying to find the right words to describe his cover of this, but words just aren't sufficient for the task. Thank you Vince.
Vince, thank you! Your guitar work continues to astound me! I recently watched you on stage with Keith Urban and Chris Stapleton...I was blown away! Thank you sir and God bless!
@@mrjasondylan I just listened to it. Beautiful song. Meaningful because I also lost my brother. Thanks for the recommendation. Try the Hurt video by Johnny Cash. Gets me every time.
@@lasvegasvegas4236 That's cool man glad you liked there's a version he sings live at the Oprey which is at George Jones funeral and he breaks down and can't continue so his singing partner Patty Loveless takes over and it's so emotional yet brilliant the whole room stand take of there cowboy hats in respect. I recommend it as for Cash yes I love him it's amazing to think Hurt is originally a metal song by 9 inch nails that's how great Johnny was you would think he wrote it just like his version of Danny Boy unbelievable best version ever. Peace brother.
This was wonderful! The Eagles have always been my favorite band, with Glenn Frey as my favorite member! I was so very sad when he passed. I also Love Vince Gill, since the first time I heard him. Put them together, thank you! I saw you in 2017 in Philadelphia, with James Taylor. What a wonderful time!
What an excellent interview. Thanks so much for an honest, friendly and informative conversation. When I watched the performance, at first it appeared that VG was a bit nervous or tenuous. But as he progressed through the song, he just got better and better. Thanks again.
This is one man who definitely underestimated. He’s classy. He’s smart ,kind , spontaneous, forgiving, honest, and humble. I love his wife Amy . I remember their House of Cards . What a Beautiful Blessing. God Bless This Man and his Family . ❤️🇨🇦 Thank You so much for sharing this video. I’ve been watching It Theory, Naveen Jain , on Tom Bilyeu. , so I can live a long time to continue to watch these awesome people! ( Excellent way to extend lifespan) a Book by David Sinclair/ Rhonda Patrick. 😊✨❤️
vince ...you nailed surfs up... best performance on that concert... and there were lots of cool songs done that nite.. i had tears when you sang that song.. thank you for doing it...
All respects to Vince hes one of my favorites though I'm not much for country but sure love his tunes. Hes so humble and truthful his stories are great the one and only so talented.
Vince's singing Surfs Up blew my mind. I couldn't believe that big guy could pull off one of the most tender vocals ever written and he just killed it. What a fantastic musician.
I'm loving these interviews Joe. It's nice to get a flavour of the person behind the music and hear their stories. Vince is humble and yet he's grounded. He knows that you can learn a lot by playing with different musicians. No matter how good you are there's always something new to learn. If you think you know everything then you might as well give up. Surf's Up is a difficult song (one of my faves) and I enjoyed Vince's story. I suppose the moral is - don't believe anything is impossible. Thanks for the video.
If I could pick a person to hang out and strum a few songs with, I'd love it to be with Vince Gill. Just a really decent person and wonderful performer and musician... So good!
Wow, another amazing interview, I couldn't stop watching until the end! Time to watch the other parts. I have felt that Nashville, of all the music centers in the US, has always attracted our most talented musicians to the city. So I just listened to 'Surf's Up' at Radio City and that is a stunning performance!
Why is anybody giving these videos a thumb down when the questions are so genuine and the moment is so superb with these artists historical monumental l
My whole life Joe I have always believe that nice guys finish last and I still do but you and Mr. Gill help this old dog see a bit of a ray poking through.. Thank you young man !!
Just when I thought the last interview Joe did was the best one yet, Joe knocks this one way out of the park. Thank you Joe for these priceless, informative and insightful interviews.
LOVE Vince saying he thought he'd "made it" at 18, being able to pay the rent. The entire rest of his career has been a blessing, and he knows it. So humble, and always learning to be more of an artist, more perfect.

Vince does a better job with Randy's magnum opus then Glenn did, imo. RIP to both Glenn and Randy.

Thanks for watching T.R.... Joe
Thank you for sharing Joe! You enlighten us all.
When Vince sings harmony, I will stop in a room, in my tracks and listen. Stunning
Is there a more genuinely nice person than Vince Gill? It's particularly striking after decades of "stardom" that he's been capable of remaining so grounded and humble. Extraordinary example for us all.
You can tell a lot about a man by the way he acts when he has power.
Humility is a gift from God. And a clear understanding that this life is short and the people you meet on the way up, you see on the way down.
Vince is a product of the true light that shines into the darkness of this fallen world...thanks Joe for helping to share this love to many...Peace💜🤴
Thanks for watching Joe... sincerely.., Joe
"the darkness of this fallen world". Unplug and go outside. You'll find that all the garbage that we are being fed is what makes you feel that. The world and the people (the vast majority) are wonderful and fine.
Really enjoyed this interview. Vince Gill is a great musician, but it nice to know he’s a such a nice person.
Such a pleasure to hear Mr. Gill in conversation. He is a "landmark" musician, not only because of his talents but even more his attitudes.

What an incredible, high underrated artist and singer-songwriter. I grew up with his wife Amy Grant's music, such an incredible combo.
Not so sure that Vince Gill is underrated.
I don't know who the interviewer is but I like him. I remember buying a Vince Gill CD on the way on a camping trip. I'd heard of him. Good music on a camping trip is always good. I was a fan right off.

He is the epitome of Triple Threat....writes, plays, and sings at a level perfect 10 in all 3 categories.
One of the most talented people in the history of the world.
And could have been a professional golfer. Not related to music, but seriously, Vince is talented on so many levels.
Vince singing “Warmth of the Sun” brings tears to my eyes. Just beautiful.
So powerful! That’s the reason I bought that dvd.
I have always liked vince gill would like to go at least one of his concerts.
Sad that Vince and Janice could not continue. Respect him as a real talent and it is nice to see him open that Heart and speak about his career. Love this episode about a humble man with a gift
Thanks for watching and sharing your comments David..... Sincerely, Joe

There are not enough thumbs up that can be given for such a warm and intriguing interview! It felt like I was eavesdropping on two beloved friends❤️
Thanks Sharon. That was extremely kind of you to say. My hope when I was putting the shows together with the booth we sit at was to try and bring our viewers into our conversation/interview as the third guest, I very happy you kinda felt that way watching Vince and I talk. Best, Joe

Just wonderful Joe! Vince is so talented yet humble. He’s a great story teller, looking forward to part 3.

I can hear Vince singing harmony and playing guitar in many songs with other artists. He never overrides the singer or musicians. His subtly is beautiful music to my ears
I read most of the comments here and thumbed up everyone had a heartwarming story unbelievable so much greatness here
This is one of the best interviews of any musician I have ever seen.
Bob...... thank you very much.... you could not have been kinder with your comment. Hope you enjoy part three here in a few more days... best, Joe
@@ms8596 Absolutely fascinating, thanks!
Joe, you do such great interviews because you love music deeply and it shows. It brings out deep answers from the musicians.
Thanks Stirk.... joe
I watched the video of “Surf’s Up” from the Brian Wilson tribute. I got chills! Thanks for the interview Joe!
Thanks for watching GB..... joe
Fantastic portrait of the artist. Thanks so much for these interviews.
Thank you 3340....... joe
Vince is a legend both as singer and instrumental musician.
Vince, thank you! Your guitar work continues to astound me! I recently watched you on stage with Keith Urban and Chris Stapleton...I was blown away! Thank you sir and God bless!
I've never listened to his music but what a classy dude. It's nice when humble people achieve their dreams.
Check out Go rest high on that mountain he wrote for his brother who died amazing song.

I just listened to it.
Thanks for watching Tina.....Joe
What an excellent interview. Thanks so much for an honest, friendly and informative conversation. When I watched the performance, at first it appeared that VG was a bit nervous or tenuous. But as he progressed through the song, he just got better and better. Thanks again.
This is one man who definitely underestimated. He’s classy. He’s smart ,kind , spontaneous, forgiving, honest, and humble. I love his wife Amy . I remember their House of Cards . What a Beautiful Blessing. God Bless This Man and his Family . ❤️🇨🇦
Thank You so much for sharing this video.
I’ve been watching It Theory, Naveen Jain , on Tom Bilyeu. , so I can live a long time to continue to watch these awesome people! ( Excellent way to extend lifespan) a Book by David Sinclair/ Rhonda Patrick. 😊✨❤️
Vince is very modest! My favorite artst!
Check out Vince doing “Warmth Of The Sun” at the Brian Wilson Tribute, it brings tears to my eyes. He’s amazing.
Warmth of The Sun is one of my all time Brian Wilson favorites. Vince really does it justice! I agree Bob.
vince ...you nailed surfs up... best performance on that concert... and there were lots of cool songs done that nite.. i had tears when you sang that song.. thank you for doing it...
All respects to Vince hes one of my favorites though I'm not much for country but sure love his tunes.
Hes so humble and truthful his stories are great the one and only so talented.

Man... gotta love Vince! Oklahoma City boy... you have the greatest interviews, I love your style Joe.
Thanks Gwag... joe
So incredibly good at what he does and yet so modest. What an endearing combination and how unusual?
Vince's singing Surfs Up blew my mind. I couldn't believe that big guy could pull off one of the most tender vocals ever written and he just killed it. What a fantastic musician.
Great part 2, I can tell yall are friends, it shows. Awesome stuff!
Thanks for watching Roger... yes we are friends... he’s a great guy... joe
Another great one JOE! Can’t wait for part 3. 🎤🎹 🎸
Hi young boy... probably part three will be later next week... it will be good... talks about Clapton and the Eagles etc. best... Joe
Thanks for watching Rocket... joe
If I could pick a person to hang out and strum a few songs with, I'd love it to be with Vince Gill. Just a really decent person and wonderful performer and musician... So good!
This guy is truly great!
Love this man! One of the greatest
Thanks John... joe
Vinnie! The lil guy on 24th! street in OKC Ok. Wow..he married Amy Grant! Sending prayers!
Why is anybody giving these videos a thumb down when the questions are so genuine and the moment is so superb with these artists historical monumental
l
Another gem! Thanks, Joe
Thanks Steve... Joe
humble, yet great. what a good guy.
Vince Gill is a true musician - excellent man.
Love Vince Gill!
A window in my heart is one of the most wonderful songs vince ever done.
Vince, forgive me but I don't think you've EVER been over your head. Thanks for the musicianship and your tunes.
Funny thing is when you are living the music and playing so much that you forget if you were on a recording;;; that = legends!!!🙏🙏🙏
My whole life Joe I have always believe that nice guys finish last and I still do but you and Mr. Gill help this old dog see a bit of a ray poking through.. Thank you young man !!
Thank you too for watching and sharing your thoughts blue... joe
you made it you're making it and you're still making it brother God bless rock and rollers
Just when I thought the last interview Joe did was the best one yet, Joe knocks this one way out of the park. Thank you Joe for these priceless, informative and insightful interviews.
