What are your thoughts about the XREAL Air 2 Ultra? Are you happy we finally got 6-DOF? Or do you think the FOV is still much too low to really make use of everything the glasses can do?

Bigger fov probably means wider glasses that will change the look. Maybe wrap around sunglasses. Either way it is putting Apple to shame.

FOV too small for me to wear it comfortably. There always some part of the screen that is cut off unless i put my eyes close enough to where my eyelash would touch and wipe the screen when i'm blinking which would smudge the screen. Wish the fov was as big as the glass rather than just a small screen in the back.

I was also at the CES XReal's booth and had demo of the Ultra. I also have their old Nreal Light and I'm deciding if I should get the Ultra and return my Quest 3 atm. The FOV is small, but it's about the same as the Light. However, the ultra seems to be clear and brighter than my Nreal Light. But their ecosystem is still lacking and they stopped their support for Nreal Light. I did voice about phone compatibility issues with them. LOL. I really wish they used other optics from Ant Optics. But I'm still deciding if I should return my Quest 3 and get an Ultra. Don't get me wrong, but Ultra seems more comfortable to wear vs Nreal Light or Quest 2 and 3.

Great to see 6 dof again. only afraid Norway as region is not supported so I am a bit afraid I would have some probs with Nebula. Also Nreal Light lost ability to show Volumetric Holograms??? Never figured out why. Does Xreal Air Ultra support Volumetric Holograms? Guess Il wait 4 months and then go for it to be sure tech model gets stable...

So I had the XREAL Air 2 Pro for some days, but sadly it wasn't for me. Picture quality was REALLY good, like super sharp, great colours and contrast (obv, with uOLED). I was especially impressed as it's only 1080p, but it looks SOOO good.
Sadly, even when the angle was set to the most downward facing position, I couldn't get the glasses to fit nicely. Center of the picture was slightly offset to the top, so I had to look a bit up which was super straining for my eyes. I also had the feeling that the focal distance was too small, like trying to read a book a hand's length away.
I just thought: "Well yeah, new optics etc. you just have to get used to it (like I did with my 8KX)", but I just couldn't. I don't know how the Rokid Max would fit me, but I think they are all very similar in that regard. It also doesn't help, that the lenses are actually so small. Bigger lenses with adjustment for the virtual screen position would be ideal, but for that the FOV must be bigger first.
Also in regards to the FOV: Corners of the virtual screen were a bit blurry for me, but nothing too bad.
The dimming function of the Pro model is quite useless imo, as the electronics (most probably coils) tend to whine when adjusting the dimming (suuuuuper annoying), so you can actually save the 50€ for the Pro model.
But it's great to see that they iterate on their design - Maybe I could come back in 2 or 3 generations.

Hello, you can't see well because you haven't adjusted the arms of your glasses. The arms move and have 3 positions... They move up or down depending on how they are set from the factory. when you move them, you will have the feeling that they break , but know that they are resistant. Surely when you set them you will see perfectly and the problem will be solved. Success

@@cristianistrate7618 No, you probably skipped this part of my comment: "Sadly, even when the angle was set to the most downward facing position, I couldn't get the glasses to fit nicely."
I really tried everything. ALL 3 positions with every nose pad - They simply won't fit for me.

I have a huge dome for a head. I don’t look like an alien or anything but often hat sizes can be an issue for me. Anyway I bought the Xreal AR 2 Pro and love it. I also bought the original Beam. Recently I picked up the Beam Pro…I like it. It does a good job and has their proprietary software that allows for two apps to be displayed and their sizes adjusted…as well as being able to switch back and forth.
Right now my primary use case is to have RUclips up and Chrome on the right hand side with my corporate email up on a tab in it. So I can easily glance over to check email at times, or switch back and forth between the two. My issue is that it is impossible to send emails. The arrow in Chrome Outlook can’t be clicked. Not by the Beam Pro and not by the iClever bluetooth folding mini keyboard that I already had for perhaps five years or so at this point.
I decided to order the Ultra glasses. I’m interested in the 52 degrees of FOV (up 15% vs. the pro model). It isn’t a huge gain in FOV but I’ll take it. I’m interested in 6 DOF, but it’s an early adopter scenario. I’m not expecting much right now. I am also prepared with the understanding that the consumer model which comes out will probably come in two variants: a 1080p one like the Ultra, and more than likely a $900 or so 4k Ultra Pro version. I have found that I don’t care about 4k for some reason, 1080p seems always to be just fine for me.
Everyone should carefully take note of the following: Xreal does not intend for the Beam Pro to be the companion for the Ultra. It will likely work with it, but I have heard whispers directly from Xreal on two occasions (including in this video) where it is stated that a “companion device” is coming which will be used for and with the Ultra. *sigh*. It’s expensive being an “early adopter”. But I will have to upgrade to that Beam Pro Ultra AGAIN if I want to be able to use the Ultra glasses to their fullest.

From a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being trash and 10 being VR headset level, what would you rate the 6DOF of this? That is something I think a lot of people will care about. Apart from the FOV, head tracking is something these glasses lack compared to VR headsets. I guess if they can solve 1 problem at a time, it will make a lot of people happy.
The FOV improvement can come later when display tech improves.
