Hello Mark! Great footage as always! I caught one of the biggest trout of MY life, was along that shore line before the flood gates. 8.5 lbs on an early morning topwater! What a memory!!
Good stuff Mark. Happy new year! During the cold temps I went out 2x Christmas week and then 2x between Christmas and NYE. Hard grind. Very little action. Glad to see some catch something local.
Always enjoy watching your videos, you've been blessed with an ability to engage your audience into experiencing what you are experiencing. God bless and Happy New Year.
well i noticed a few things----the tide was going out---try fishing on the other side --and the tide comming in--it has a dip there and fish holed up and gobble what comes thru the gate--try it!
Love fishing there. Gotta cast far and let it sit till something bytes. Lost lots of rigs but caught many huge fish. Great video, followed since last year and enjoy every vid
Years ago someone taught me how to use a piece of metal clothes hanger as a weight. It helped not get snagged in rock like that. It worked well and it is cheap. You make it by cutting a straight piece about 12” long and bend an eye on one end. Then you fish it like a drop shot. The long metal slides in and out of rock with less chance of getting wedged into the rock.
Awesome fish! I like to also cut the throats out to make buffalo wings. Fry them and use buffalo wing sauce. Katies restaurant has the snapper throats with buffalo sauce. Cheeks are also good if they are big enough.
Mark I just purchased a rechargeable air pump a few weeks ago. Was well worth it around 20bucks and no more having to buy expensive D batteries. Last few trips have used it for 8hrs each time and has lost only 1bar of power.
Hello Mark, Happy New Year. I would like to get a rack for my truck to carry my kayak. Did you had your built or where can I get one. Beats buying a trailer.
Thanks for sharing! Just subbed! I was wondering what bait shop did you go to? I’m from Denver,Colorado and was planning to go next year and fish with my family! I bet they have all different types of bait!
Im born and raised Texan so I have the right to say. I don't know what's wrong with some people (not you) to throw their trash and litter down. I know when I go to Colorado its mostly clean and litter free. Texas is a nice place people should pick up after their selves. Again not talking about you. Nice cook on the grill!
Colorado ok in spots. Others are absolutely terrible. Go fishing at a city area lake and the garbage can be horrendous. I am from the mountains and you rarely ever see garbage up there. You go somewhere let's say like Grand Junction where I was last several years an fish in town lakes and it's straight trash everywhere. I end up cleaning up after people whenever I go.
Don't worry. You not alone. California or around the Bay area it's the same thing. That's one of the reasons I never let people know where I fish. Places I fish if you know you know.
The only problem with this area is the fish consumption advisory. The fish are polluted with dioxin, polychlorinated biphenyl, and probably mercury. Persons should not consume blue crabs or any species of fish from these waters. Children under 12 and women of childbearing age should not consume spotted seatrout, blue crabs or any catfish species from this area. A great place for catch and release though. Great video!

Pure genius 🙌 😎
Nice catch. I was on the new years week and there was hardly any action on live shrimp but great to see action coming back.
I thought the skunk was coming for me 😂
@@MDLRFishing lol hey at least you caught fish I only caught a bunch of mosquitoes.

Sounds great!
My son caught and released a 41" drum just the other side of the gates. Lot of fun times fishing out there
Hay Mark happy new year great video thanks 🐟
Happy new year!
Nice choice in the Mora. Can’t go wrong with it for the price!!!

Good stuff
Yes sir Happy New Year Brother God bless 🙏
Happy new year! Thanks Mike.
nice opening trip of 2023 mate
Thanks 🤙
Outstanding sir
Many thanks 👍
I fish there occasionally.
It's absolutely insane prefrontal with an outgoing tide.
Try casting across to the slack water on the opposite side.
👍
YumYum !
👍
Love the content.
Thanks 👍
Nice catch and video. Redfish,my favorite my biggest catch was a bullred 37 1/2 long...on a mr.champ gold spoon,I was fishing in grand isle Louisiana
That’s a beast
Great video Mark 🤙
Thanks 👍
Put your left over Chipotle Peppers in a mason jar and place them in refrigerator. Great job!
Great tip!
Ever eat the redfish throat like some do a red snapper? Obviously not on small but maybe upper slot sized.
I’ve made them before but not really impressed. It is edible meat if you’re trying to make the most out of the fish.
What time did yall arrive to the flood gates. Brother and I want to head out there soon
Have fished there many times , cool little spot
👍
Happy New Year!
Happy new year! 🙌
Never thought about using a garlic press for other veggies! I’m like well, DUH! Why didn’t I think about that!
😂👍
I think you wanna see your rod flying away 🤣🤣🤣
😕… 😂👍
Marc De La Red strikes again!🔥
👍
Great Vid Brotha!!!! And the recipe looks🔥!!! Hey Is it worth freezing the left over recipe for another use? Just asking for a friend 😉👍!!!
You two are the best adult film 🌟 stars I've seen
Nice start to 2023. What about the big freeze a couple weeks back, any damage to the fishes?
Nothing that I can tell.
Looked like a tough grind but it paid off fortunately.
I’m grateful for the catch and food.
Been there many, many times.
Yessir that red looks 😋🤤👍 when bank fishing I'll take what I can get lol
It’s a different ball game from the bank.
Mora knives are a great go to. Great quality for little money.
Agreed!
Hello Mark, Happy New Year. I would like to get a rack for my truck to carry my kayak. Did you had your built or where can I get one. Beats buying a trailer.
I bought mine from Boonedox but had to diy the second rack myself. I have a video about it.
Thanks for sharing! Just subbed! I was wondering what bait shop did you go to? I’m from Denver,Colorado and was planning to go next year and fish with my family! I bet they have all different types of bait!
There’s two in the immediate area. Boyd’s gives a military discount and then there’s Lee’s.
@@MDLRFishing Thank you Sir!
That recipe looks 🔥 thanks for sharing. I’m definitely trying the cross hatch idea next time. Just makes sense!
Hope you enjoy!
That truck/kayak rack what brand is that?
Boonedox
What kind of rig did you use for that red
Kinda like a tandem rig. Weight on bottom and shrimp up top.
Is the really the size 50 reel?! Also what lb line?
Yes, size 50 reel with 8 lb braid.
I wonder how those shrimp would work under a slip cork.
I’ll find out one these days 👍
Use to be much better when it was 30 foot deep. Last year the filled it with rocks and it’s only 13 foot deep
Hey man happy new year! In your opinion what old eighteen rod and what action would you recommend for sheep head?
I like using my UL 7’ so I can cast a tiny lure at them. The Buoyancy and Ascent are perfect.
Nice bro
Thanks
How do you prepare your Spanish Rice
I’ll try to show it in a future video. My wife’s the one who makes it. 👍
Hey Mark, When using live shrimp do you ever crack the tail on the shrimp?
I don’t
Bro what I would do is put a bobber on and fish the current seem.
It's gonna be a mud cat?
What part of Texas are u fishing
Galveston
The only thing I'll CATCH at Texas Chitty is a case for public profanity and COOK the bait shrimp.
~~Great video, as usual.~~
😂😂😂
Didn’t know you like Reggaeton music 🎶👍🏼
🤙
Where’s that at on Texas City
Skyline road
Falta el lemon! 😉
🍋 👍
I don't understand why everyone filet fis? Why not throw whole fish on the grill?
This last year I’ve seen way more trash at that spot…. Y’all ain’t eat that drum tho 😂😅
Was that too much salt? lol
It’s sea salt, nothing compared to iodized stuff 👍

when i went to denver, i was appalled at how nasty the town was... litter everywhere.
