    The attention to detail is so important,reminds me of when I was a locomotive mechanic in Canada back in the day, scraping the surfaces of a massive v 16 diesel before before installing the new gasket, retired now, however,my daily transport is a 1995 1400 Intruder. Really enjoyed this video.

    Yes, remember the simple skills Del showed us in fitting gaskets.
    To make life easier and to save money in the future for replacing gaskets whenever work is required on the clutch for example, then the use of grease on the mating surface enables you to reuse your gaskets over and over again.
    Nice work, Del

      Absolutely right mate, just means it comes off in one piece on the casing... saves money and that's always good! Have a great weekend, D&Px

    Your daily ride is fast becoming a show bike Del. Now that I'm an old buzzard I wish I could find a list of doctors who do the type of meticulous work on their patients that you do on yours. 😁 Much respect to you and Nurse Penny. Thanks and blessings to you both.❤👍👍

      Thank you Rick, you're very kind... I always think that it's largely impossible for any commercial garage to put in the time and attention that we do for ourselves, if they tried to charge a fair hourly rate for the hundreds of hours it can often take, then who would ever pay that! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thanks for your support as always, D&Px

    Del....been watching fer a few years. Your systematic approach to whichever "brand" O bike you choose to work on is flawless. Metric/British or American produces a much more reliable and safe MC. I would love to buy the skirtster/cafe bike you are pert near finished mit. Learned much from ya. Thanks. And Penny does a great job mit the video. Be calm and carry on. Thank you.

    Shiny, shiny! She's looking mighty fine! I gotta say, when you first got this bike and you said it was too good of a deal to pass up, I just laughed and laughed!! Telling yourself, nay CONVINCING yourself that you bought her just to save some money! Even when you KNEW in your heart of hearts that you would be showering her with all the (very expensive) love and affection that she needed... but we STILL tell ourselves that we NEEDED to buy this newest toy, err... much NEEDED and NECESSARY item because it was such a money-saver!! :) Addiction??? What addiction??? It's NOT an obsession... honest! :) Enjoy the weekend, you two!

    Really enjoy your videos, I only passed my mod1 and 2 in December 22. Have a Bandit 600 that has turned from a few jobs doing to get it road ready to completely stripping it down and getting anything and everything either replaced, repainted or refurbished. I’m enjoying the process but it’s taken me far longer than anticipated, so I’ve just gone and purchased a Honda Hornet 600 which I took out for my first ever big bike ride on the road last night. Absolutely loved it! I would have been paranoid that I would burn through the paint on the casings, especially around the edges where the paint is thinner 😑🤦‍♂look forward to your next video 👍

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  Год назад

      Hi Ian, great to hear that you're doing up your Bandit, it'll give you a fabulous price of ownership once it's done, and the bike will mean more to you than a bike you just buy and ride! And with the paint on the casings, believe it or not, most engines are only painted with a regular 2k paint, it can take around 400'C before it starts to discolour or burn and most engines don't get that hot in use! Good luck with the Hornet, enjoy the ride!

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  Год назад +1

      Thanks mate, I would consider I'm pretty much doing that with the current Harley project, but it's a mighty expensive process when you fund it yoursef... you'll never get the money back on a restored bike, it always has to be for the love of it, but we really appreciate your kid sentiments and faith in what we do!

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  Год назад

      Stone chip isn't entirely necessary on side engine casings, perhaps on a front facing panel, but a good quality 2k paint will work just fine as it does on the bodywork on a car!

    • @Moonfleet41

      Prevents it sticking to the casing, or the engine, meaning you can use that gasket two, or even, three times, without it ripping.

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  Год назад

      Hi Kelvyn, sorry to hear about your accident, hope you're ok... you can always restore a scuffed cashing, as long as the gouges aren't too deep, maybe no more than 1mm, gently file them out with a fine file, then sand out the file marks, then polish... if it's painted, just re-paint after sanding! But if they're too deep, then filing away may take out too much metal and make it unstable, I hope that helps in some way.
