The newspapers reported that Princess Catherine wrote this herself very quickly. And the BBC (the UK's national broadcaster who records all important Royal events and announcements) said she did it in one take. Shows just how personal this broadcast is and how much it means to her to personally deliver her message.
Princess Catherine displayed the same strength of character and dignity in addressing the public as the late Queen Elizabeth did in her speech to the United Kingdom and the world during the Pandemic. We will succeed, We will be with our friends again, We will be with our families again, We will meet again. The Queen's words offered so much confront and reassurance to many in the UK and around the world.

The yellow flowers are daffodils - one of our most prolific spring flowers in the U.K. and the national flower of Wales (she is Princess of Wales) and the flower used by cancer charities as their emblem in the U.K.
This was one of the most moving, poised and graceful announcements I have ever watched…to be able to do this at what is probably the worst moment in her life is beyond inspirational and truly touching. She apparently did this video in one take.

Daffodills are one of the first flowers to bloom in Spring.
I honestly have never seen anyone address such a serious subject with this kind of poise and dignity. In a little more than 2 minutes, she has humbled all (well not all) who have been poking fun at her expense. While some are backing off, as they should, others are sticking the knife in further. One such comment I saw today said that God knew what he was doing when he gave the King and Kate cancer. Catherine has done all she can do.. I hope she is able to put aside the pure hate that will continue to come for her and focus solely on her recovery. I will be praying for her and all of her family.

Thank you for your analysis. I am angry at the way the Princess has been dragged and bullied because she chose to pull away from public appearances to recover from major surgery then start chemotherapy. Indeed, she delivered the announcement brilliantly with courage and grace. No doubt it will be studied and used as an example of how to write a well crafted announcement.
I wept while watching the video yesterday. As a 63 year old woman with Stage 4 breast cancer, I have been living with the disease for 8.5 years and continue to receive oral treatments, blood tests, quarterly PET/CT scans, & bi-annual brain scans. Cancer is a treacherous disease and nothing is guaranteed. The disease and treatments have and continue to exact their toll on my body. I thank God for each day that I wake up surrounded by the love of my husband and our children.

I really appreciate your video - and I wholeheartedly agree with what you said. I was very impressed by the setting and her care with her words. I was so touched to hear that she was so intent on ensuring that her children felt safe and cared for. I felt she looked pale and tired, and I appreciated that there wasn't heavily applied makeup for that moment. She looked as one would be expected to look when going through chemotherapy and what must have been an emotional roller coaster for so many reasons. I hope the hype dies down so that she can focus on herself and her family.

Yes, her delivery was perfect even though it had to be so very difficult. It felt like those words and sentences were just the way she would say them…not written by palace staff.

Catherine Princess of Wales is surrounded by daffodils in the background - a flower associated with Wales. She is sitting in the healthy fresh air, in simple, healing nature. She is dressed simply, no make up, she has basically come to us in this video as an ordinary woman pleading with us to let her heal, let her have privacy. I'm appalled this wonderful, brave lady felt she had to do this.
Be appalled at the Palace, the monarchy. The reporters were concerned for her. They lied and said she didn't have cancer, and were about to be exposed. They set her up, and made her go out and perform from her sick bed! Be appalled at her husband who should be sitting by her side holding her hand. It's all fake to please the monarchy. She is likely mad as hell for being exposed. They didn't have to say it wasn't cancer, but they did and exposed her. Now she had to go out and be their performing monkey!

Catherine’s announcement bought tears to my eyes. Not her diagnosis which was a shock, but her grace, dignity, compassion and strength when articulating her diagnosis. I was diagnosed with cancer 10 yrs ago and couldn’t talk about it for months after due to the well of fear and emotion I felt. Catherine was every inch the Queen in Waiting in her delivery, she also showed no hint of ‘why me?’ No self-pity, in fact no sense of self, there was no ‘me, me and me’ in her narrative, she started with thanking the public for their support, putting her children’s emotional health as her priority and ended telling others they ‘were not alone’. What a powerful speech delivered in so short a time lapse. She truly is the Royal Family’s and the UK’s greatest asset and I wish for her to be granted the space, peace and privacy she so graciously requests, to enable her to complete her treatment and time to recover from its after effects.
I think one reason she chose to do this announcement "alone" rather than with Prince William sitting beside her is so people with cancer who don't have that kind of accompaniment themselves will be able to hear her concern for them and feel a kinship of sorts more deeply. Just so unselfish and brilliant.

I was a bit concerned about her eyes. She looks amazing but if you focus on her eyes you can really see all the pain and strain going on inside.

For someone who is shy and introverted, Princess Catherine was pitch perfect. She is a kind, and thoughtful person.
It is almost unbearably moving. The only sign of anguish and tension is expressed by her hand gestures. Also however skilled you may be as a communicator and the Princess is as good as it gets, you cannot fake the sincerity and sweetness of nature; or the glint of steel.

The Princess of Wales is a highly intelligent, highly educated women. People underestimate her, because she is quiet and a bit of an introvert. But she has a spine of polished steel. I think we in the UK are lucky to have her as the wife of a future King and the mother of the next generation of the Royal Family. I am sure she wrote this speech herself and knew exactly how she wanted to deliver it. She is also a credit to her parents and siblings.

She is the most wonderful person. She shares this very difficult message with such grace yet sets her boundaries at the same time. As a cancer survivor myself I wish her well. She is going to get through this with her positive attitude. That makes the difference. I was diagnosed at a very young age with two children under the age of four and their well-being motivated me to beat this monster. I am now sixty three and my children have grown up to be wonderful adults. Dear Princess Catherine, may you be blessed always and get well soon. Lots of love from South Africa ❤️

She wasn’t ready to tell her children, and needed time to process it as she didn’t find out straightaway. The FAMILY needed time to deal with this privately, but unfortunately IMO Meghan’s lieutenants OS and CB in cohoots with KJ, KK, and TMZ allegedly, made sure to spread ugly rumors around the media and heap more stress on a family who was just trying to cope IMO.
This is our Catherine, this is the Lady that has served our Country so beautifully for over a decade. No matter what they try to say about her online, this is Catherine, beautiful inside and out.

Your assessment was spot on. Only 2 minutes long and yet it conveyed everything she needed to say so beautifully and authentically.
I do have a question though, why do you think she chose to do this on her own, sitting by herself? Would it have been better if William had been by her side? Would that have helped or detracted from the messaging? She looked so alone, but then maybe the impact of the announcement was more pronounced that way. Curious what you think about that from a communication pov.
She might have looked alone, but I doubt it. Possibly Prince William and the King were with her just off camera.
Having William there would be a distraction. Despite what many people believe, Catherine is a very strong woman. She may be naturally shy, quiet, and gentle but her spine is made of steel. In a way, she is very much like the late Queen Elizabeth who was naturally shy but had steely strength and resolve. Also, Americans have a very sentimental outlook and rather "showy" about showing love and support. The British do things differently, especially the Royal Family. They prefer to look dignified when doing things like this important announcement. William didn't need to be there to "show" support. Catherine already said William was her source of comfort and reassurance. That should be enough, and more importantly, THEIR people--the British population--understood this perfectly.
To show you her strength and that she is determined to get through this the best way she can especially for her children. William, the king and her family are all there being supportive. Power to a strong woman. 😊
Because she is genuinely an empowered woman. She also would've been mindful that many people dealing with cancer are alone and could feel terribly sad. She's also taking complete ownership of her condition and is determined to come out on top for her family.

I am a nurse and from the beginning l suspected she had some form of gynecological surgery and due to either being benign or malignant, hoping of course for the former and now to her hear she did have early stage cancer from this surgery is very sad but hoping it is first stage and can through therapy e.g chemo or raditation ,she will soon be well and healthy again and back and doing what she does so well and best, being simply the beautiful Princess of Wales, the second "People's Princess" ❤❤beautiful women with such grace and poise❤❤🙏🙏
Excuse me1 She is no longer Kate Middleton and has not been for 12 years. She can be referred to as HRH Catherine, Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the the Duchess of Rothesay or Catherine. She does not have a stage name as some do. Show her respect.
