@ Nov’ 24 GXL Single cab, 285 75 R16 (33”) on GXL rims (don’t say it, I know they belong on 7.5’s now), the theory was to go to Workmate rolling diameter. Speedo was a bit under, now 6% over. The only thing I can find is Mark’s 4WD plug and play corrector which looks like a good fix with an auto electrician’s help. However I have since been told that Workmate’s run a different ABS reluctor (tooth ring on the back of each hub). I’m thinking of changing to them in search of a more technically correct solution. If only I could get a keen RUclipsr to be the sucker that tries it all and make a video so I would not have to take any risk, then I could just copy them… if only. 😂
Gday mate. Prob getting the same wheels as ya with the -12 offset. Couldnt quite see but re the front tyres…… do they sit inside the flares? Asking because I’m going for post rego gvm and the engineer will be looking at that for compliance. Cheers in advance n love the vids 👍
Hey mate. Can I fit these wheels without a lift if I cut the mud guards the way you did it? And if they fit would they scrap when lower the tyre pressure? Thanks
To be honest, they are still a tight fit once the guard has been cut and depending on brand of tire will be very close when turning into a driveway and the suspension compresses. Lowering tire pressure would not affect it to much though.
@@smarttouringsystems-garage good luck with the cruiser, I’ve had my 79 dual cab for ten years now, great cars, but Toyota dealers are something i don’t want to deal with ever again.
@@smarttouringsystems-garage quick update , I bought MT 33 on stock wheels , I have to trim like 2~3 inches of the inner fender plastic part not a big deal with a hand tool, now my 76 looks and feels amazing
Did you get scrub anywhere else? I have put these on my 76 but at full lock in 2nd turning a corner I can feel a vibration, not sure if it’s the front wheel mudflap that needs a trim also?
Hi mate, just a quick question with the neg 12 offset rims is there any poke on the front and rear wheels? Especially the rear with the Toyota tray? Thanks in advance 👍
Hi Archie. Tiny bit of poke for n the front. Without the rear housing to correct the track it would still be well under at the rear. With the track correction Italy’s perfect mate. 0 offset would still look good to tough, -12 is prob on the borderline of legal in my opinion.
@@smarttouringsystems-garage Thanks heaps mate for the quick reply on an old video. Appreciate it 👍 I’ll see how I go but I reckon neg 12 will look better with the wide stance, just might have to get those guards that TC Boxes make.
I was going to swap my 33's from old 78 to new 78, looks like I need to do this mod, thanks for the vid. Do you know if the guard flares of the new 79 fit on the new 78? Aint putting on wider wheels till I get new flares and mud flaps
Hey mate, great video. Not sure I can bring myself to chop up the front bumper but no GVM kits available yet.. What offset did you go for -12 it looks like? Cheers bro.
It is amazing how a set of tyres gives a car a total different presence and look. Looks mint. A ally bar powder coated black would get you by.
Toyota did the same for the 300 Series. They made the OEM tyre one size smaller, thus making it harder to fit 33's.
Great vid guy's love your work
Thanks for watching
Cool Ep Guys
Have you done a speedo correction?
No. The larger wheels nearly make the speedo dead accurate as from the factory it reads over what speed you are actually doing

Cheers mate. Yeah it’s a right angle Milwaukee die grinder and has been invaluable with the Lazarus build.

They are touch and go, but mine was engineered with the wheels and tires on it and passed no problem.

I can just hear the Toyota dealer now,,,, ‘geez mate your have just voided your warranty, you modified the vehicle’
Yeah probably 😜

I am planning to fit 33 on the stock wheels, do you think I have to make the same mode ?
Potentially not as the offset is much shallower.

Top info mate, do you jack the car up using the radius arms, or diff shaft & pumpkin with the trolley jack?
Hi Mark. I can’t remember mate. But I know I’ve done either in the past 👍🏼
Gday mate. Cheers for all ya vids n info.
Rims look sick. What are they?
Cheers!
Thanks for watching mate. ROH Assults 16x9 in a -12 offset

Yeah if you hit a gutter at full
Lock they just touch the back of the front quarter
Hey mate, didn't you have a wheel deal discount code on this one? Or was it another video. Ready to buy some..
Yeah mate use the code smarttouringsystems to receive 5% off 👍🏼

Need to get you a hoist. Save you getting squashed when the jack gives way.
Fair call! and yes I would love one.
What offset are those front rims ?
The wheels are neg 12 all round
What 16” alloy wheels are they ?
ROH assault in a neg 12

Dobinsons have gvm upgrades available for this new update
i put 285/75/16 never cut anything
What did I miss? Did you offload the old V8 79?
Yeah mate the old 79 is gone. This one is a v8 also.
16 x 8 -25 or 16 x 9 -12
16x9-12
I would like some tread with my tread please. 😂
😜
Ummm are you just relying on the jack alone with no stands? Wtf lad?
Yeah fair call. Safety first hey
Why would you need jack stands? He’s not under the car.
