I know I'm beating a dead horse but I really wish we got this 70 series in America.
You can for $150k. All new except for the 25 year old chassis.
I have 10 years in our plan to move to the Philippines. I'm thinking I should be able to pick up one of these slightly used by then and I'm more excited about that than living on the beach 😅
its a fucking crime we cannot have this kind of hardware in "the most free country in the world" USA.....
useless in North America, plus it's slow and handles like poop.
@@imhidingintheshop8889lol. Most free country in the world? Who are you kidding, there are plenty of other countries just as free as America.
Let the troopy go.....79 got a lot of history with you
Troopy is WAY too practical .
10:13.........Love the Nissan Badge..........
Haha came to say the same thing lol
I drive a Nissan so took me a few before I realized that wasn't right 😂
😂
I caught that too, what happened there? lol
😂 20/20 vision... hahhahahha same here
10:13 Nissan badge😆😆
Hi Ronny, you should have made a whole video of why you are keeping the 2.8l. I know you have been talking in comparison videos with V8 but a final discussion and then your decision.
Keep the troopy it is more functional.
Functional for hippies and hipsters
Mate, the 76 looks absolutely incredible. Id love to get this done to my Cruiser. Which vehicle to sell? Now that is an incredibly difficult decision. Keep the OG 79 😅
Pretty funny dragging the panel around with a leash. Not surprised you’re keeping the 76 it out performed the 79 in almost everything. Would it be better to have a tray and a wagon instead of two wagons? Could retire the 79 for grocery shopping 😆..
Haha , or school run ?
Looks frikn awesome. Love the matt stealth look. Matt is where it’s at in my view. Good call.
love the ppf , just have to replace it before 5th year, having it longer causes it very hard to take it off for rewrap
Two wagons would be redundant. He’ll keep the 79 and 76. Wish we could get any one of those here in the States.
But you get trucks for cheap , everything in Aus is so expensive now
@@trotts1885 true ... .. but our U.S. wagons or S.U.V.'S , need to be more utilitarian ,than a 3 row luxury family school bus as most are now
troppy ...the car camper van / overlander I could build
hi Ronny, the roof attachment + at 10:30, is this self-made or can I buy this product somewhere. Pretty cool
Love the passion you have for your vehicles and this channel. Keep up the good work!
I had Line-X on my Zook and it was and looked incredible. The only down side (for the Zook) was the extra weight it added.
How much did this cost Ron?
Whats the cost of getting a whole vehicle done ? im guessing alot cheaper if you do it from factory, but if you plan to keep a car for a long period then is it still cheaper then just a respray before sale?
Easy 10k down the toilet right there, less mates rates maybe. The job has to be redone down the track before it deteriorates, or starts to yellow. Becomes a bitch of a job if left too long so added labour and can affect the paint, especially Toyota's paper thin spray job. Better to just scratch & dent then respray when needed for 10k. These guys prey on OCD. 😉
Yeah, makesmore sense to get the cheaper version. And not do the roof if a roof rack is there to basically protect that.
If you would’ve done a bit more research you would’ve come to a better conclusion.
Xpel PPF comes with a 10 year warranty against yellowing, cracking, blistering and delaminating. (The film lasts you much longer if maintained properly.)
Removing the PPF of a panel isn’t as hard as you make out to be either as parking it in the sun or washing it with warm water heats up the adhesive enough for it to come off fairly easy and in one piece.
Google is your best friend :)
An indication of pricing would be great. Looks the goods!
It’s not cheap. Easy 7-10k in my opinion. Having scratched is only my option and i dont mind at all😅
Bushwrapz is far more affordable than these premium films.
As much as a new paint job
Jeez, but with all the work that’s involved I can understand that kind of pricing…
I suppose.
We ppf wrapped our 76 in Matt wrap (stealth if you want a cool name) 3+ years ago. 10 year warranty, if I wear it out by then I do it again in gloss and I’ve got a new car, another 10 years and take it off and leave the factory paint till I’m done.
Ps… the difference is the auto, not the engine. On paper the engines are basically same specs.
That stealth wrap looks awesome! 👊👌
It was great to work on your car! The stealth suits the Land Cruiser in Sandy taupe very well! 👌
Awesome wrap. What is the mileage on the 79?
The more cubic inches an engine is, the "less stressed" it will be, compared to a much smaller capacity engine that produces the same or more horsepower and torque and in addition will be more prone to overheating. The longevity factor will be interesting to know as well, as in wear and tear of engine components.
Not a fan of overstressed small capacity engines fitted with turbochargers or superchargers.
Time will tell as to how long these 2.8 litre engines will last before imminent failure.
Unfortunately not many people think logically about that sort of thing
Time HAS told, as they have been in the Hilux and Prado for nearly a decade now and are reputedly strong, lasting engines. With the cooling upgrade they gave it on this 70 series it should have even greater reliability.
Love it how this vehicle turn out to be after wrap. It’s doesn’t matter how much he paid but the centre point is looks sick and give us new idea. Thank you mate
what a good boss acknowledging his team every chance he gets
Jeez that wrap is 1/ a fantastic product and 2/ changes the look of the vehicle completely
You keep the shopping trolley 😂😂😂, Prado would be more comfortable and 7 seats
In Canada that would cost around 6-8000$ to get done.
The guy wrapping and talking around 09:00 sounds Dutch :) The accent
Name too
He is! 👌🏼
Sure am 😂
Yeah picked that up straight away too...both my parents born in Holland.
I believe the Dutch are amongst the largest group of immigrants in Australia ! And I can understand why that's a working combo.
It's also about the gearing. The V8 & 2.8 are geared different.
Look at the Iveco Daily - only 4 cylinder, but a larger vehicle.
I think you are obliged to keep the Troopy, being a recent project with areas still to develop!
Any opinion on difference between fuel consumption v8 vs 2.8 unloaded with general non 4wding?
lol the Nissan badge during the wrapping scene
I think the new look is great but that can't be a cheap process. I would be interested in a price comparison between this and a total re-spray. How long does the wrap last in the Aussie sun?
The film itself is completely UV-resistant, but as an added measure we apply a ceramic coating on top which also has UV-resistant properties. We've tested many different scenarios on many different vehicles including ones that live outside up north over the years and never had any problems with the harsh Aussie sun 🔥
Exactly my question. Will it hold up 5 years? Probably no one knows.
@@mark2073My friend wraps cars in Brisbane area. Mostly high End cars. But I’ve personally seen an early sixth gen he did god near 7+ years ago in a clear PPF wrap. It’s parked in the sun everyday in the Hamilton region and still looks brand new.
Quality PPF style wraps are far superior then a vinyl wrap.
Vinyl is a lot cheaper and mostly easier to install it’s a lot more forgiving. But it’s a temporary look mostly . 2 years ish and you’re ripping it off.
But a quality wrap like Xpel? You’ll get quite a long time out of it if looked after bro.
@LVUFC thats what i gathered from reading the comments after I posted
@@mark2073 Ye it’s hit and miss.
For a Xpel PPF wrap + correction and ceramic coating you’ll be looking at 10k ish give or take. I personally know he recently charged someone 10.5k for a 300 series.
Full Xpel with a high end ceramic coating to seal it. It’s not cheap.
It’s expensive but depending on the overall value of the car it’s up to you I guess.
Nice. If I had a car worth some money I'd do the wrap too
They do a good job !!! Looks hard to do big job good protection mate
I would keep the pickup, 5 seats and a bed for hauling, but then again the troopy is not bad at all. keep all 3 pass them on to the kids.
Looks the goods, like Ronny said looks like a new car, definitely very clean all over.
Mad as, love the stealth finish all day
When you're in the video production world time is money. Repainting may cost the same but the time without a vehicle is much longer. I'm sure the stealth look will help with videography too.
Thought you might end up keeping this. Looks sick with that wrap.
Stealth wrap looks sick!
Hi Ronny,
Could you please tell us which lift kit you have used in your vehicle. Thank you
6-days of labour plus product, that wrap must cost $9k to install, not sure its worth the investment?
agree
you're at closed door respray price territory. Also, 9k is prob being generous, its Perth so add 25%-50% to normal pricing
Had my whole uterus done cost me 3k
@@matabela3745 with that wrap at that place? I know you can get ppf for 3k but that product with full coverage around edges would not be 3k and 6 days of work
If you get 5k extra when selling the vehicle solely because for the wrap, then in reality your actually 4k down.
@@joshuafalken3312 just paint it...
Price makes no sense
This felt like watching a 15min long ad 😅
I hope they at least gave you a good discount for this video
That wrap looks fantastic
Seriously impressed with the stealth wrap, love the colour of the Land Cruiser and l think the 2.8 is the right choice, always been a V8 fan (had three V8 Land Rovers) but given the choice l would take the 2.8.
If you are staying with 35” tire's. I think is wise to re-gear. It would help with the longevity of the automatic transmission.
Hey Ronny, what's your thoughts about rust proofing the LC?
Just keep the OG 79 love that rig and the new 76
Ayyy I went with the stealth as well on my 79 2.8
13:42 leaving us hanging!!!
Wow that wrap looks sick 🔥
Which portable uhf did you go with ?
So all we got this week was a long commercial so you could get it wrapped for free.
Why not, You would
@@steelearmstrong9616 i probably would but i probably would also say it at the start of the video Smartass
An assumption and a sook in one sentence, well done 👍
Wish there were the products to protect paintwork back when I bought my 76 in 2011. She has some....imperfections.
You mean she's aged gracefully?
If the v8 had a front mount intercooler to help remove the heat soak issues and tuned to the same level as the 2.8, the v8 would well out perform the little 2.8.
Is it possible to run obd2 engine monitoring on the next towing test? It would be ideal to show a true comparison of engine data to show just how hard each engine is working and any inefficiencies.
The V8 is a slug mate get over it, regardless you will never see it offered again and that's a good thing.
The V6 is a far better engine as well.
Walter.
If it makes old mate feel any better about you hurting his test panel, it made a believer out of me.
My only questions are, how does it survive in the UV after a few years.
What damage does it do to the paint once its been UV baked.
We still don't know on longer run what will be with this particular model but we already have experience with some old but more with a lot of four cylinder engine on the new cars to have problems especially falling of pistons.
It looks like this days buying four cylinder car is suicide.
All this power turbos compression dpf gases are going to affect the engine.I think the whole motor industry is going in wrong direction and needs assessment but someone has to try and time will tell.
That does look awesome.
Love the matte wrap… dont sell the troopy!
76 looks great!
10:12 brilliant bit of humour there mate 😂
the troopy and the wagon seem more suited to family life, I reckon its time to let the decade old rig go
So, what did the wrap cost and what did you pay?
I didn't see a note for "paid promotion" so I'm guessing full price?
Lol, I would imagine cost and what he paid are 2 completely different things
The labour cost for something like this is crazy
Definitely did not pay full price for it, he also didn't put up paid promotion, so probably a token $1 payment to get past the YT requirements.
@@malcolmL995 Yep, probably paid $1 token fee for it to get past the YT requirements
@@-PORK-CHOP-unsure what the YT requirement is?
Keep the Troopy. No brainer! So much cooler, more beautiful and more practical than the 79. Icon!
you should have had the guy put matte black on the chrome on front bumper
That would look interesting
That's a nice looking car Ronny.
Can you or should you add a ceramic coating over the PPF ?
Cam wild did, there is a huge cost difference
You don't need or have to, but it does add a 2nd layer of protection. Comes down to whether you want to pay the extra $ for the extra protection.
@@David-cq4se a lot depends on how many body scratching tracks your planning on doing to determine the level of protection you want
When I look at 4WD’s in city car parks 1 in 10 would have a few scratches and very few have a lot of scratches
honestly, Ronny should have enough of a business with half million subs where he could get a business loan and NOT have to get rid of any of his 3 vehicles, in the states we call this TAX DEDUCTIONS
Easy decision! Keep the Troopy! Much more practical. The older rig is so iconic, you'll get top dollar!
Hey Ronny, love your vids. The car looks awesome. Quick question: What flares are on the car?
these are factory flares
@@Ronny_Dahl Thanks for your swift response mate. They look very similar to what you've got on your Troopy. What did you put on Ragnarok? I cannot seem to find decent ones. Any suggestions?
it's hard to imagine Ronnie without the 79... but it's time for an update mate and the 76 is a good family wagon.
Ronny learns the joys of a modern auto.
Awesome product
I got my Patrol raptor coated, any colour you want, the two main advantages over film is all the plastics get coated which means they don’t fade with time, and it’s a lot cheaper 😜
Everything fades overtime
@@steelearmstrong9616 everything except raptor coatings 😀
How much did it cost to get the raptor coating ?
@@michaelhermans4753 They are nice trucks
@@ScottyP79 Scotty I was not sure how durable it was even after investigating on YT so I got my boat done first, took it on a major fishing expedition for 2 weeks. Rod holders, gaffs spearguns and scuba tanks all gave it a pounding
Came back without a mark, now five years later it still looks like new
I didn’t hesitate to get my GU coated, came out like a new car
Cost was $3500
If you go down this path make sure you use a raptor coating specialist, no a normal spray painter that does it on the side, as the process is quite different
Also got my bull bar, steel rims and wheel arches done
You're simply the best Ronny. You represent us Sandgropers perfectly. JT from Kalamunda.
Did they tell you how long the wrap will last ? Especially in the Aussie sun ?
XPEL, the company that invented this self-healing paint protection film warrants it for 10 years. However from our experience, so long as you take care of it and wash it regularly and correctly it lasts well beyond that 👌🏼
@@MADinc oh wow that's pretty good then .
How much is this wrap?
KEEP THE TROOPY, Its such an amazing setup. The old 79 is cool but its had many a righteous adventure. plus easier to take the kids in the troopy
But then he'll have 2 wagons, one slightly bigger than the other.
@mark2073 and? The only difference between the 79 and the troopy is the trooper is better equipped. The 79 is old school but it's no much less comfort and requires towing the trailer.
Don't get rid of that black truck that's the coolest truck on the planet almost
If I had to choose between 78 and 79, I didn't have to think twice. I would sell the 79. The 78 with the pop up roof is so much more convenient for traveling than the 79. Sometimes you have to say goodbye to things that you have owned for a long time.
had full xpel over my sports car, never expected to have it done to a 70!
On the 10th of April this year it will be 2 years since I ordered a duel cab 79 series.
Stupid Toyota still cant give me any idea when I’ll be getting it
Save your money and get a hilux. I ordered mine 2 years ago for $85k ,with the new price it came out to 99k with tray. So I cancelled the order.
I see the problem, sounds like you ordered a ‘ duel “ cab, they only make dual cabs.
I've been waiting for over 2 years. After nearly taking Toyota to court, I finally got my car in the yard. I ordered a V8, and they tried to give me a 4-cylinder shit instead.
Good job Ronny
Hybrids are way more reliable then regular (turbo) engines. And less complicated as the best part is no part: no starter, no alternator no timing belt e.g. For offroaders the hybrids are the way to go, especially from Toyota as the have by far the longest experience with hybrids.
does ceramic coating get applied directly on the paint and the PPF gets installed over the coating or the opposite ? Thx much. Owen ---- from the US
I had a wrap put on my new LC300 pre-reg. Had the ceramic coat put over the top of the wrap by the dealership. I was told, you cant apply wraps over the ceramic coat - but ceramic coats over a wrap do work .. adds a 2nd layer of protection over the panels.
Nothing beneath the wrap or else it won't adhear properly.
Usually you don't need to ceramic over ppf, just wasting money
Keep the Troopy! Please!
That poor m3 happy easter Ronny
I like your testing!!! And this will sale more!!
That would be "sell" net sale
@@-PORK-CHOP- Pork chop, this new typing update which was a few updates ago inputs things. Don’t know why 🤷🏻♂️
The true test for paint protection is Langsdon Rd, Ibmbil. If you know you know. Still have trauma flashbacks

That machine looks 💯👌
Would love to know rough ball park on price for a wrap
Yes what would be the total cost Ronnie?
Great choice with PPF mate. What are you going to do for the underbody anti corrosion protection?
have you tied using ur trans lock up down hill it works great for my 200
How many Kms to you get on one tank of fuel?
10k family holiday . Or 10k sticky tape on me car 🤔
Ill look after either v8 for you
Looks sick man!!!!
Hey Ronnie, what wrap is that? do you have the manufacture and maybe any number for me? iheared about this type of wrap but never saw it in action. thanks Ronny from Germany
Anybody now s it?
you should sell the troopy cause utes are good and if you sell the troopy then you will still have a ute and the 76 is a wagon so sell the troopy
