DIY EXHAUST | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 14
This job is definitely one that would benefit from using a car hoist, but unfortunately, STS Garage doesn’t have one. So, rolling around on the floor beneath the car was the only option, and that's exactly what we did.
This was one of the more enjoyable tasks we've tackled on the 60 so far, and it was a blast creating a huge montage video of it. Sit back and enjoy!

FIRST START OF THE ISUZU 4JJ1 ENGINE IN A 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 12
Просмотров 8 тыс.28 дней назад
Carrying on from the last episode, it's time to finish the engine install on the 60 and get it fired up. This episode we have Michael from Aussie 4J Adaptors joining us in the STS GARAGE to help out with the install. What we achieved in such a small amount of time is simply down to Michael’s extensive knowledge and willingness to get in and get it done. We were adamant, that in this episode the...
ISUZU 4JJ1 ENGINE CONVERSION INTO A TOYOTA 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 11

Fully detailed episode on how we managed to fit the ever popular 4JJ1 Isuzu motor from a 2011 D-max into a 1985 Toyota Landcruiser 60 series with minimal tools but heaps of enthusiasm. This will be part one of this process as it's quite an undertaking creating a car from many different parts and makes, but something I can tick off my bucket list. DRIVING AN UNREGISTERED VEHICLE 150KM HOME "100% LEGALL"

Well I can't go past a bargain, sitting at home scrolling through Facebook marketplace and this gem pops up, not only was it the right price it was also not to far from home. Now whether it was actually a good buy or not is still to be decided. One thing is for sure this was an adventure, and that is more important than anything else here at STS Garage. BUYING A CRASHED CAR AT AUCTION JUST FOR THE ENGINE | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 10
Просмотров 5 тыс.2 месяца назад
It's a big piece of the Lazarus puzzle finally complete. We have been looking for the right vehicle to use as a donor car for a very long time, and we have finally made a purchase. It's a little nerve racking when you purchase something like this without even seeing it and not knowing if the engine will even start. So come along for the ride as we reveal exactly what it is and whether or not it...
BUILDING SIDESTEPS WITH A DIFFERENCE | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 9
Просмотров 3 тыс.2 месяца назад
One of the last custom parts for Lazarus is the side steps. I had plan for these to be quite different in design and give the appearance of the car being higher of the ground without lifting the suspension, which will allow us to completely fill the gaurds with a 33 inch tire. I love the look of a big tire in a low truck but also didn't want it to look like the belly of the truck was too low! -...
CUSTOM LASER CUT ROOF RACK MOUNT | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 8
Просмотров 2,8 тыс.2 месяца назад
For this build its very important that we not only make it look good but it also must be practical as a camping & touring vehicle and when we are talking about a wagon, the roof rack is very important for carrying the swag, firewood, attaching an awning, and whatever else we decide to take with us on coming trips in the 60 series. We couldn't just bolt on some off the shelf racks though and hav...

If your clips in leaf springs have a nut & bolt set up (Some have tapped threads , no nut ) for safey reasons i always ensure they are fitted on the springs with nuts facing to tyre / wheel . Reason for this is that if the nut became loose and vibrates off the bolt the bolt will rattle out of the clip towards tyre , potential for damage to tyre / crash . I have seen it on front spring when vehicle turned . bolt half hanging out clip tore sidewall . ( some clips will be positioned well clear of tyre and never be a issue ) Rough ride in leaf spring land cruiser 40 when brand new vehicles they were fitted with rubber shackle & pin bushes , rubber bushes in shocks , most aftermarket bushes now polyurethane and are a harder durometer than rubber . original shocks were hydraulic , not gas hydraulic big bore big shaft heavy valved units . Originals were very easy to compress but firm to extend . Spring absorbs the bump & shock slows the rebound of the spring . If shock is big heavy its harder to compress. Short wheel base and long wheel base had same springs in front with same hydraulic shock absorbers . Swb Rear had different springs and shocks to lwb Rear , Shocks they were still plain hydraulic but different part numbers When you get genuine rear shocks for 40 series ( standard height suspension ) they are same open and closed lengths , but valved different especially on extension . Swb is much easier to extend than the lwb , which is way harder to extend as lwb payload capacity and springs are much heavier than swb.0 Most aftermarket suspensions have one rear shock absorber available for rear of swb , its the same heavy big bore gas as long wheel base and is far too heavy for swb applications . It can be tricky to set up aftermarket leaf suspension , especially with heavy valved big bore gas shock absorbers and expect to get a flexible ride with 35 psi in tyres on a unladen vehicle . Common to buy heavy spring packs and remove the third leaf from top if its suitable to remove as in no clips on it , and if you have a choice a softer valved shock absorber , I would say most aftermarket shocks are just too heavy which gives harsh rides , so much marketing hype out there , its all business . ( note factory original standard springs with standard factory hydrailic shocks and rubber bushing all round provided a acceptable comfort in ride , but not much axle housing to rubber cushion bump stop clearance ) Just about all aftermarket springs now are lifted style and longer to provide the lift , some are thicker material than originals , and vary in quality and features . There are still manufacturers mostly overseas that are producing standard height original type springs for these die hard vehicles if you are wanting to have your vehicle back to original heights and ride comfort they are the springs to select . Playing with a new one means you transfer all the risk to you and throws out your warranty, etc. Out of warranty go to town, I did and yeah big money will get you big numbers but the more you do to it, the less reliable it will become. Had mine for 14 yrs still a gr8 truck, done lots of trips and it still only has under 130K Km on it. It's my Outback tourer, not my daily or my exec sporty.
