DYNO RUNS FOR A BLOW THROUGH CARBY SETUP, 2H, ROTARY, V8 & 4JJ1 | CLANCY 3
Clancy hits the dyno to test out our theories on the blow through turbo carb setup we have cobbled together. We are also lucky enough to have a heap of other super interesting and extremely different cars, including rotaries, a v8, a very tired 2H diesel, and of course Lazarus our 4j swapped 60 gets a much needed power boost.

WHEEL BEARINGS, AIRBAGS, AND REBUILDING THE LEAF SPRINGS | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 17
Просмотров 11 тыс.2 месяца назад
Lazarus the 60 series is starting to become part of our touring arsenal and to make that happen we needed to give the suspension and running gear a good look over including the mandatory wheel bearings. To help deal with the weight of towing duties plus the upcoming rear drawer and battery fit out, we knew we would have to up the spring rate a little. Now instead of throwing all the springs in ...
$185 TURBO INSTALL ONTO A CARBURETED PETROL ENGINE | CLANCY 2
Просмотров 23 тыс.2 месяца назад
This build series is all about letting it all hang out with a full on, imagination run wild, kind of build. Our 1985 60 series we aptly named Clancy was just about ready to be parted out or sold onto the next scrap yard, but before that happens we have decided to give the old truck one last hurrah and throw a massively oversized turbo at the tired 3f under the hood in an experiment to make some...
UNIQUE 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER BUILD IN 35 MINUTES!
Просмотров 104 тыс.3 месяца назад
Building our 4jj1 swapped 60 series Landcruiser with full custom bodywork in 35 minutes. This project started life as me and James having a beer and a wild idea to build a 60 series Landcruiser, we never thought it was going to be this involved or turn into what is potentially one of the more unique 60 series around. To say we are proud of it is an understatement. So Grab a beer and enjoy! - Bi...
REGISTRATION OF A HEAVILY MODIFIED VEHICLE | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 16
Просмотров 14 тыс.3 месяца назад
We couldn't wait to slap on the fresh number plates to the 60. Ten months of blood, sweat and tears all came down to this. We were secretly very nervous about the engineering, blue slip and registration process. With so many hoops to jump through, it was only going to take one little hiccup to ruin our 2024 Classic Landcruiser Expo dream. Paperwork aside, we weren't even sure that we wouldn't e...
LAZARUS OUR 4J SWAPPED 60 SERIES IS COMPLETE! | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 15
Просмотров 32 тыс.4 месяца назад
Lazarus the 60 series has put up a fight, but we have made it. This episode we get to piece all the bits together that we have had stored away for what feels like an eternity, grab a beer and come along for the ride and enjoy the big reveal with Me James and some mates. For more information or to purchase the adaptor, wiring harness, power steering hoses, or to have a full drive in-drive out co...
DIY EXHAUST | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 14
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.4 месяца назад
This job is definitely one that would benefit from using a car hoist, but unfortunately, STS Garage doesn’t have one. So, rolling around on the floor beneath the car was the only option, and that's exactly what we did. This was one of the more enjoyable tasks we've tackled on the 60 so far, and it was a blast creating a huge montage video of it. Sit back and enjoy!
DETAILED LOOK INTO WHAT IT TAKES TO PAINT A CAR | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 13
Просмотров 6 тыс.4 месяца назад
This episode Lazzarus the 60 series finally gets a coat of paint, this has been one of the most difficult parts of the job, that being getting it to this point to paint and just when we think its ready we find more rust and a massive repair! For more information or to purchase the adaptor, wiring harness, power steering hoses, or to have a full drive in-drive out conversion of your Landcruiser ...
FIRST START OF THE ISUZU 4JJ1 ENGINE IN A 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 12
Просмотров 10 тыс.5 месяцев назад
Carrying on from the last episode, it's time to finish the engine install on the 60 and get it fired up. This episode we have Michael from Aussie 4J Adaptors joining us in the STS GARAGE to help out with the install. What we achieved in such a small amount of time is simply down to Michael’s extensive knowledge and willingness to get in and get it done. We were adamant, that in this episode the...
ISUZU 4JJ1 ENGINE CONVERSION INTO A TOYOTA 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 11
Просмотров 21 тыс.5 месяцев назад
Fully detailed episode on how we managed to fit the ever popular 4JJ1 Isuzu motor from a 2011 D-max into a 1985 Toyota Landcruiser 60 series with minimal tools but heaps of enthusiasm. This will be part one of this process as it's quite an undertaking creating a car from many different parts and makes, but something I can tick off my bucket list. If this episode inspires you to undertake someth...
DRIVING AN UNREGISTERED VEHICLE 150KM HOME "100% LEGALL" | CLANCY 1
Просмотров 8 тыс.6 месяцев назад
Well I can't go past a bargain, sitting at home scrolling through Facebook marketplace and this gem pops up, not only was it the right price it was also not to far from home. Now whether it was actually a good buy or not is still to be decided. One thing is for sure this was an adventure, and that is more important than anything else here at STS Garage. Now what do we do with it? - We Have A We...
BUYING A CRASHED CAR AT AUCTION JUST FOR THE ENGINE | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 10
Просмотров 6 тыс.6 месяцев назад
It's a big piece of the Lazarus puzzle finally complete. We have been looking for the right vehicle to use as a donor car for a very long time, and we have finally made a purchase. It's a little nerve racking when you purchase something like this without even seeing it and not knowing if the engine will even start. So come along for the ride as we reveal exactly what it is and whether or not it...
BUILDING SIDESTEPS WITH A DIFFERENCE | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 9
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.6 месяцев назад
One of the last custom parts for Lazarus is the side steps. I had plan for these to be quite different in design and give the appearance of the car being higher of the ground without lifting the suspension, which will allow us to completely fill the gaurds with a 33 inch tire. I love the look of a big tire in a low truck but also didn't want it to look like the belly of the truck was too low! -...
CUSTOM LASER CUT ROOF RACK MOUNT | 60 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 8
Просмотров 3,2 тыс.7 месяцев назад
For this build its very important that we not only make it look good but it also must be practical as a camping & touring vehicle and when we are talking about a wagon, the roof rack is very important for carrying the swag, firewood, attaching an awning, and whatever else we decide to take with us on coming trips in the 60 series. We couldn't just bolt on some off the shelf racks though and hav...
ROOFTOP MOUNTED PORTABLE SOLAR PANELS ALL IN ONE | 79 SERIES LANDCRUISER PART 10
Просмотров 4,1 тыс.7 месяцев назад
Another finishing touch to the 79 series build is to add some roof rack mounted solar panels to the top of the canopy to take advantage of the massive charging capacity of the Alpha 100 DC-DC charger. Instead of just bolting them on we use our own product the Solar clip which allows you to add and remove these panels with ease. Whether your camped in the shade or you need the use of your roof r...

Back to new life😮😮😮
Fabricators 😤
Awesome build, well done 👍 I'd certainly look at buying one if you put it into production. The nostalgia of the interior is very cool. Have you looked into tow capacity and GVM?
Awesome work guys. Would love to do this to my 60 😢😂
You did a great job but the piece on the front bumper reminds me of fishing boats and obscures the beauty of the front.
Have you done a speedo correction?
No. The larger wheels nearly make the speedo dead accurate as from the factory it reads over what speed you are actually doing
@ Nov’ 24 GXL Single cab, 285 75 R16 (33”) on GXL rims (don’t say it, I know they belong on 7.5’s now), the theory was to go to Workmate rolling diameter. Speedo was a bit under, now 6% over. The only thing I can find is Mark’s 4WD plug and play corrector which looks like a good fix with an auto electrician’s help. However I have since been told that Workmate’s run a different ABS reluctor (tooth ring on the back of each hub). I’m thinking of changing to them in search of a more technically correct solution. If only I could get a keen RUclipsr to be the sucker that tries it all and make a video so I would not have to take any risk, then I could just copy them… if only. 😂
Perfect jobs ❤❤
WOW!!!!!
Great video! I’m working a winch install myself and pulled the entire front bumper cover to see what the frame rails looked like. It looks like your front mount bolts are going into a frame rail extension that is bolted to the frame. I may be overthinking this, but that doesn’t seem strong enough and maybe needs to be boxed in? Any thoughts? Also, any video of the winch in use? Thanks!!
Cheers for watching. Yeah the front bolt is into the frame extension the rear bolt goes all the way through the frame extension up through the frame itslelf to the top of the chassis, have a look and you will see what I mean. But yes there is options for extra bolt locations I’ve been looking long at as I’m thinking about making a few up to sell.
@@smarttouringsystems-garageThanks for the reply!
isn't it a 2f not a 2h?
The Hj47 in the video is a 2h
@smarttouringsystems-garage I was always under the impression the 2h was a mechanically injected diesel, the 2f was a 4.5L carbie fed petrol and the 3f is the 4.0L carbie fed petrol 3fE was the electronic injection and ignition... I drive a 1990 FJ80 with the 3F pertol carbie motor, only has 40,000kms since a total rebuild
👏👏
Great video as always. I bought the same unit after seeing your instal using the code . I’ve wired it very similar , not using it via acc on off but through a Lithium. However got a question ? Do you know if there is a way to turn the back light on off other than disconnection the power off the acc wire? I had hope the on off button on the panel would do it but doesn’t seem to unless I’m missing something . Thought I would reach out and ask. Cheers Grant.
Hi Grant. Mine is the same, I figured the power drawer of the backlight is so minimal that I would just leave it on. You could put a switch inline with the accessory wire input. ?
@ Thanks for the prompt reply and suggestion . Cheers
Kudos for the work mates, what an impressive job
Thanks mate.
Hi mate, only just found this channel from your other one, looking forward to watching the HJ47 build. Can you tell me roughly where you are based as a matter of interest only? Cheers 🍻
Welcome aboard! We are located around Port Macqaurie mate.
Does the newer 70 series round headlights fit ?
No the 70 are bigger.
Such an impressive build start to finish. Loved it
Thanks mate.
This is a serious project, look at the level of concentration on the forehead. minute 2:10
Hand held metal media sand blaster, peel up and blast, then magnet up media, use again😅
Shiny primer
Thanks again Greg. Check out our Instagram story mate. Your famous 😝
All of that work and expense just to paint it shiny primer grey.
Thanks for watching.
Can someone explain to me why you would need the door panels off to do tints? Why is he talking about removing the fixed glass on the rear door to tint it? Completely lost here.
Hi and thanks for tuning in. You don’t have to remove glass just is easier to do a nice job, and taking the glass out of these things is super easy.
Kudo’s for the engine lift 💪🏻
Nice 60 I thought 62 we’re later it had twin headlight fronts different dash only saying because I had one either way nice build can’t beat the 4jj
Thanks for tuning in. Yeah the models are a bit misleading. I thought the same as you but the compliance plate says 62
@ Mine was a 88 mdl maybe that’s the difference later mdl
:)
:)
95kw at the wheels standard out of v8 is fucking terrible
Keep dreaming…..together with all the other 2025 fantasy vehicles, and even if we’re true, I wouldn’t come to the US thanks to all the climate change freaks we have here.
Cool looking vehicle. The paint job roof cage and the roh wheels a tyres made a huge difference well done to all 😊
Thanks heaps mate, we’re stoked with the outcome
Pleas do LPG injection 😂 the old girl will love the extra octane
Sounds interesting 🧐
@ I’ve been looking into it for my diesel instead of a turbo 😎
😂😂😂 7psi at the waste gate ………TOOT……… shit I laughed so hard
😂
4jj on 18 psi should pull over 200hp what's wrong with it
All dynos are different I spose and the 33 inch wheels would not help. But it feels amazingly better to drive.
@smarttouringsystems-garage I can imagine it's better the the old 3f I have 😆😆 awesome 60s but
Nice work. How is the 4jj handling the 2 tonn behind it? I've got a Colorado with a chipped 4jj1 and tow a 1.6 t camper and wouldn't mind some more power. Good economy tho.
Yeah I recon 2t would be comfortable, any more and you would start to feel the smaller capacity
Magnifique travail de restauration, bravo !
great build great people CONGRATS
I thought you were going to spray fuel in turbo to blow it up. Or start fluid to give it a kick on the dyno
It was discussed 😂
You could buy a holley sniper for the turbo petrol 60. They run fine with boost.
Thanks for the tip, that's an option we have thought about.
@smarttouringsystems-garage I've used one on an old carby Holden red motor.
Hey mate Guy Walker here. I know you from the building industry in port. You do some cool stuff. I know Matt quite well he fixes my dmax. He is a hell of a mechanic
Hey mate. Thanks for tuning in.
How cool was that little rota and datto I miss my old 1600, old cars are soooo much cooler than these modern day shitheaps! I’d have that 60 out the bush any day over a new Toyota! Brings a big smile to my face 😊
Yeah the old 60s are cool mate. And the rotors are something else all together.
Cool ep and cars and 4wds guys
Cool ep and cars and 4wds guys
Thanks Craig.
Love ur vids man 🇹🇹. Y’all should try somehow fuel injection pre turbo
Cheers mate. Yeah we had some thoughts of pump spray bottle whilst it was on the dyno haha.
@ yeah was honestly expecting like 250 or more hp thing sounds awesome
Awesome as mate ❤ your videos every week 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🤟🤟🤟🤟🇦🇺👍👍👍
Thanks for watching mate! was fun.
@ should try a 1HZ nexts time . 2H engine s are good as & they keep going & going 👍🍻🍻🍻
Been waiting for this video! Keeeen!
Glad you are keen, it's been fun to build this.
That is fucking mint 😂 currently in the build process with my mate on a Toyota starlit just ordered a turbo and some other things going to be a fun farm basher 🤟🏻🤟🏻😂
Right this things sick just earned another sub keep up the work lads
Welcome aboard!
Hilbilly builds are the best fun..😂😂
Ive been running a cheap maxspeedingrods turbo in my Subaru Forester gt for about 3 years and one in my diesel Prado for about a year. I can't believe how well they run for the price. My Suby happily makes 16psi at low rpms. Cool project guys.
inspired
hey guys, great vid and product. How would you suggest mounting the base plates to roof racks (rhino vortex bars) that are 800mm apart?
Yeah mate you may have to add some rails from bar to bar for your application.
Glad I found this video came up on my RUclips channel what a ripper of a video just to see all those land cruisers would have been magic 😊
Cheers for tuning in mate.
@ no worries real enjoy your videos ✌️
