The wall symbol is the Height of which you attack but it also hits the wall for that amount of damage as well. You also need 3 of a kind for the symbols. 3oak+ you'll see in the game's learning section.
The "3oak+" referenced in the learning section of the game is "3 of a kind" so you need at least 3 of something to get an action for that. i.e. 3 Squares = 1 left character action rod drop for an attack. Hope that helps for anyone who was confused as i was on that until i figured it out.
And to add to this, the + in 3oak+ means for every 1 extra over three, also contributes one. for example 3 of a kind is 1 point for whatever the 3 were. 4 of a kind is 2 points, 5 of a kind is 3 points. (from the tutorial screen, 3=2 4=2 5=3 6=4)
3=1 4=2 5=3. That was the main thing I didn’t understand about this game at first. So if you have 2 of something nothing happens. It’s very important to know this
I have to say this is one of the best guides I’ve seen. Not just for sea of stars but any game. The way you explain, give examples, zoom in on the element. You can really see the care you put into your video. Subbed.
Thank you so much - I really appreciate the kind words and support. Yeah these videos take me a long time to make with the editing but I feel it'll be worth it over time from guide to guide down the line.
I know this Is a bit old but this is such a funny comment. Sorry but he doesn't even know how to play the game he's making a guide on 😂, so how exactly is this one of the best guides? I appreciate the effort for sure, but shouldn't you understand THE core mechanic of the game your making a guide for? To make a guide without knowing/understanding the 3oak+ system in this game is just crazy. Notice why a lot of his moves didn't do anything? Wow.
My first run thru of sea of stars i avoided Wheels thinking it was boring and i couldnt understand it. Now its one of my favorite parts of the game 😂😂😂, they should have Wheels online
It's not so much that the assassin goes under the wall, it's more implied that assassin's can infiltrate and sneak into your wall/fortress since that's part of their role. Also, the importance of maxing out the EXP for each figure is that not only they will do extra damage but if you max out EXP on a gold figure they will launch a bomb which will do even more damage on top of your attacks.
Assassin is best piece it does more damage and if your opponent can attack the same as assassin it knock them up 1 or 2 while dealing damage and is the fastest to level
This helped me confirm that extremely bad rolls are my problem, and not just me missing some obvious mechanic or not understanding the game, like I initially thought.
I feel like the assassin is a bit OP, it hits with an unblockable attack, has a short totem and resets your totem when you’re ready to attack. It’s all too much!
I used the starter figurines and beat every championship game. Just play with the mage and any other and just focus on levelling and attacking with the mage. It attacks twice and ends games really quick. Obviously rng is involved but using this tactic I usually won first time.
The Archer attacks only one time at a height of 3. You probably confused it with the attack of the Mage, who attacks for the first attack at ground level and for the second attack at height 6 (always ignores Bulwark)
Oh nice! I'm so glad this helped - I was in that same boat at one point until things started to click - I wasn't 100% on my details but I knew enough to make a video. Seems like most are finding the tutorial useful which is a W. Thanks for commenting and sharing your first victory!
The cleric and engineer are an unbeatable combo. Level up the cleric as fast as possible but always save any level up stones. Easily beat anyone with this combo
Sure thing, also 3 of a kind is what's needed for the totem to move. I didn't show that very well here but I got it figured out afterwards. I put way too much time editing this video to redo it 🤓
I could never figure this out - it seemed automatic but I couldn't visually see the new one. There are others here in the comments that asked that same question.
When I was going through all the champion games I ended up not even bothering with the wall unless the spins forced me to because I found with how I was playing which wasn’t very well it was more effective for me to just focus on getting attacks
What I'm noticing that no other guides seemed to mention is the "three of a kind" thing does seem to apply to *xp and move points.* For example 8:34 Look at how it fires out of the "starry background double blue diamond" one on the left twice. The first one to add +1 to xp, but then AGAIN seemingly adding +2 to the move counter, +1 from the other wheel in the center, that makes 3, so the move counter goes down 1 (3=1, 4=2, etc). So that wheel is worth 1 xp *and* 2/3 of a move. *This is my 12th guide and I had no idea about that.* I despise this game and how every single element of it is deliberately rigged against you, which goes against every other element of this entire video game. Even in games like Hex where the game is rigged, the point was you're supposed to be able to rig it back in your favor if you exploit the right mechanics, but nothing like that exists so you just wind up failing for an hour hoping for pure, dumb luck. As demonstrated quite cleanly by you doing everything right this entire walkthrough and still losing.
13:55 why would you invest in 4 diamonds when the mage was only 1 diamond away from attacking? Is that wasted resources? Or do the extra diamonds carry over to the next totem height? Again at 15:52 you had 3 squares locked in, only needed 1, and attempted a spin to win to get the mage to attack.
There is no level beyond gold, but if you get your gold character another full round of XP, it sends a bomb to the other player, taking away 2 of their health. You probably know this now, as the game came out 3 weeks ago, but I can't help myself...I'm an internet know-it-all.
For a Beginner Video and not Advanced Video this was near perfect and most importantly, Free. I failed to mention 1 thing for a Beginners Video: 3oak+ which is now a pinned comment of this very video. Outside of that, there is nothing else I missed for Beginners. As for an Advanced Video? Yes I "Missed quite a few things"
@OxfordKing wasn't trying to insult you, and I'm sorry it seems to have come across that way. Ultimately I'm happy you enjoy the game enough to make content for it cause it's an amazing game that deserves all the attention it can get.
Great question - so in this game you want 3 of a Kind (3oak+) to move the totem - the Double Symbols is exactly that, 2 of them, so all you would need next is a matched single symbol on another slot to move the totem etc. Hope that helps!
I've never gotten that in to mini games, I prefer to focus my time on getting through the actual game itself. (Something my backlog of games appreciates.) I tried playing wheels and unsurprisingly couldn't get into it. I figured I would watch your video and maybe give it another try, but now I am wondering if I should even bother. Is it just me, or does this mini game seem overly complicated? Is it actually enjoyable once you learn the ropes? Are the rewards for winning worth the time/effort?
Has anyone figured out how to actually USE the "Player wheel?" I have unlocked the Level 1 and Level 2 "Player wheels"... but nothing seems to change in my wheels games. The "How to Play" section clearly states the table has a set of "four default wheels on either side, completed by each player's Player wheel". There does not seem to be a way to interact with the wheels earned in your inventory, nor is there a way to interact with the board to use your wheel. I feel like I'm still using the basic starter wheel with no way to use my earned wheels. Edit: After unlocking the gold (lvl 3) and diamond (lvl 4) wheels, I notice that the 5th wheel does seem to be getting better. At the very least, the bad luck "cracked" option in the final wheel is not there anymore, and I think I might be seeing more doubles out of the final wheel. I assume I won't see triple options until getting the platinum wheel or something.
I agree. I always roll single items with a few doubles. The opponents are always rolling double items with a few triples. It really defeats the concept of playing a skilled luck game when just completely outnumbered making it purely a lucky luck game. I've actually gotten all my wins by tediously force feeding just the Mage after trying to play it with tact.
Ah yeah, thanks for watching and commenting - I was like let me just make a guide real quick lol; hopefully there was something in the video that helped you.
It's a Basic Beginner Tips Video exactly as intended - and yes, it is great & Free. Glad others helped you. Your comment is both a compliment and an insult at the same time; well played :p

The assassin is so comically overpowered, I have to wonder if anyone playtested wheels, and if they did, if they understood the game themselves. The class bypasses walls and prevents other hereoes from attacking. It takes so little to activate that it can attack every turn, completely preventing all opponent movement as it gets leveled up. It is virtually impossible to compete with this class if you don't have one out yourself.
@ashtreelane628 might be a little late but to beat cleric assassin you need to start doing dmg asap. Focus on dmg immediately and not levelling. You are 100% not winning late game so do anything you can early on to take out the enemy b4 he levels his units.
